Aaron Ramsey is expected to shake off a thigh complaint in time for Arsenal’s trip to Swansea. Steve Bruce reveals Robbie Brady is nursing a hernia problem. Danny Rose is likely to return for Tottenham, West Brom have concerns up front as they head to Old Trafford, Bryan Ruiz requires a late fitness test ahead of Fulham’s clash with Cardiff, while Palace welcome back Joel Ward but lose Damien Delaney for the trip to Southampton:

Arsene Wenger had plenty midfield issue to discuss in this morning’s press conference. The Gunners boss has revealed Theo Walcott is “realistically five weeks away” from a return to the first-team fold, though Santi Cazorla could be back after the international break. Wenger also revealed both Mathieu Flamini and Aaron Ramsey will be assessed prior to tomorrow’s trip to Swansea – Flamini has “a small shoulder problem”, while Ramsey, according to his manager, “has a little thigh problem but should be alright”. While the Ramsey prognosis seems positive, it is, nonethleless the 730,000+ Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers who have drafted the Welshman in over the last forthnight.

Having recently lost James Chester and Robert Koren for up to two months through injury, Hull boss Steve Bruce has admitted he is monitoring Robbie Brady’s condition, with the winger suffering from a hernia problem. At present, Bruce remains positive over Brady’s availability and is still uncertain whether the former United man will need to go under the knife to resolve the issue:

“Robbie has a problem that will obviously need to be sorted out sooner or later. We shall continue to monitor him and see how he goes and, at this stage, it is touch and go whether or not he will need an operation. The last thing you need after just coming up from the Championship is injuries to key players – and we have already got two key men ruled out for lengthy spells. Losing these lads is a big blow, but now we have just got to get on with it and hope we don’t have any more bad luck on the injury front.”

The Baggies have worries over a couple of forwards for their trip to Old Trafford this weekend. Nicolas Anelka and Victor Anichebe are both uncertain to feature against the champions – Steve Clarke could be set to field Shane Long as the lone forward if he retains the 4-2-3-1 system that proved so successful against Sunderland last weekend. Chris Brunt remains sidelined with a groin injury, though, with Scott Sinclair likely to benefit with another start on the left.

Andre Villas-Boas is confient of welcoming back Danny Rose to the Tottenham fold for tomorrow lunchtime’s clash against Chelsea at the Lane. The left-back has missed the last two games in all competitions with a toe problem but according to his manager:

“For Danny, there is a 90 per cent chance that he will make the game, so that gives us options down that flank.”

Rose should wrestle the starting role from Kyle Naughton, though Villas-Boas still has doubts over Younes Kaboul’s availability due to a thigh problem. Michael Dawson is set to continue in central defence, though Vlad Chiriches made his debut in the midweek cup win at Villa and offers an alternative.

Paul Lambert has a number of concerns as Villa prepare for the visit of City. The midlands club are, of course, without Christian Benteke for Saturday’s home clash with Manuel Pellegrini’s men but Lambert revealed the Belgian isn’t the only player he could be missing. Ashley Westwood remains a real doubt with the thigh problem that kept him out of last week’s win at Norwich while Gabby Agbonlahor, Antonio Luna, Fabian Delph and Ciaran Clark all picked up problems in the Canaries win and were omitted from the side that lost to Spurs in the cup earlier this week. The Villa boss remains optimistic, however, that the latter quartet will be ready in time and was also positive on a quicker-than-expected return for Benteke, going on to say:

“He is doing great and I think he will be back quicker. He is doing really fine now and seems a lot happier within himself. We just have to wait and see. We’ve got two games before the international break. The international break has probably come at the right time for him and for us and he is doing great at the minute. The worst fear was that he was going to be out for considerable time but the way he is progressing, I think everybody is pretty happy.”

Crystal Palace will be without centre-half Damien Delaney for tomorrow’s trip to Southampton. The defender was subbed off with an ankle injury in last week’s home defeat by Swansea and was initially expected to be facing a long spell on the sidelines but Ian Holloway suggested he has “half a chance” of making next week’s trip to Liverpool. Joel Ward is back for the Eagles, though, and will return at right-back, allowing Adrian Mariappa to move inside and partner Danny Gabbidon at centre-half.

Martin Jol could be set to welcome back Aaron Hughes and Bryan Ruiz to the Fulham fold this weekend. The Cottagers boss explained yesterday:

“Aaron will join us tomorrow and he will do a fitness test. Bryan is the same – I think he could be involved but we are not 100 per cent certain yet because he hasn’t trained with me, so he will join us on Friday.”

Fulham will be without Maarten Stekelenburg, Matthew Briggs and Ashkan Dejagah once again, though, with David Stockdale again benefitting from the Dutchman’s shoulder injury absence.

      their form has been patchy
the fixtures aren't has good as some other striker options.
there are lots of other really good options
we only have 3 available spots

Repost from bottom of last page 🙂

I have Baines, Coleman and Barkely from Everton and need to bench one of them.
Baines is not a player you bench, so it is between Coleman and Barkley.
When I read the statistics, they are about the same in goal threat (Coleman has even more touches in the penalty area than Barkley), but Coleman has the chance of a clean sheet.

So is it best to play Baines and Coleman, even if it means I am playing a 5-2-3 and I am doubling up on Everton defence?

I've had Migs and Boruc since the start and I've made the wrong choice last four GWs and left CS bonuses on the bench.

Would love to captain Michu again like last week lols, but don't think even I have the balls for that 😉

It's either Rooney or Suarez (if I bring him in) for me. First one looks like the obvious option, Suarez is playing a managerless team with a dodgy defence and looks motivated.

It's just luck really, gut instinct is like a lucky charm imo, it's impossible to explain and probably doesn't exist.

Think the truth is both Rooney and Suarez are good options. West Brom improved a lot in the 3-0 win over Sunderland, going back to last season's 4-2-3-1. Then again it was only Sunderland. Does make me favour Suarez a bit though. Everything keeps coming back to Sunderland.

Yeah there's so much uncertainty in a single week that it's not far off tossing a coin. It's only over 38 GWs that differences in skill could come out, not that they exactly have over the last 5 haha.

Del below makes a good point about WBA playing into extra time, makes Rooney and Suarez level again!

GW6 preview of another FF game i play nice wee summary an bit of fun. like the key player and score predictions.

    GW 6 Preview.
Spurs v Chelsea - The week kicks off with a big game for both sides, Spurs will want to keep their good start to the campaign going and Chelsea will be looking to bring a bit of consistency to their play, in a match that could go either way, I predict that if there is a winner it will be by the odd goal in 3, but I think this will end up a draw.

    Score Prediction 1-1
    Key Player - Christian Eriksen

Aston Villa v Man City - Villa coming off a hard fought win last week will be be keen to build on that, it’s just a shame that they host Man City, who are coming off a excellent morale boosting win against Man Utd, Villa are a better away side due their style of play and may also be missing their biggest goal threat in Benteke after limping off against Norwich. With this in mind I can’t see anything but a big Man City win here.

    Score Prediction 1- 4
    Key Player - Yaya Toure

Fulham v Cardiff - tough match to call this one, Fulham have been very average this season, and have not really been on anyone’s radar so far, whereas Cardiff fought well against Spurs last week and have a win over Man City this season. I think Cardiff will grab something in this game, with possibly the only goal.

    Score Prediction 0-1
    Key Player - Peter Whittingham

Hull v West Ham - Another tough game to call, much like Fulham, WH have been very forgettable this season and there lack of goals makes them vulnerable, whereas Hull are coming off a good win over Newcastle last week after coming back from 2-0 down. Another game that won’t have much between the teams, I predict the spoils to be shared.

    Score Prediction 1-1
    Key Player - Robbie Brady

Man Utd v West Brom - After last week’s drubbing against MC, MU will be wanting to get back into winning ways, WB at home could be the perfect game for them, as I believe way WB play will suit them. With this in mind I think there will be goals in this game (a lot of goals)

    Score Prediction 4-2 Key
    Player - Wayne Rooney

Southampton v Crystal Palace - Southampton will buoyed after their away win against Liverpool last week, and I can’t see anything to suggest anything other than another win here, Palace are finding life in the EPL very difficult and as with West Ham their lack of goals is their problem, unless Palace do some hard work in front of goal this week, this looks straightforward for Southampton.

    Score Prediction 2-0
    Key Player - Luke Shaw

Swansea v Arsenal - this could be the game of the week, both teams are in good form and play attacking football. I see a few goals in this game as Arsenal look to stay top of the league and Swansea keep pushing to prove that last season wasn’t a one off.

    Score Prediction 2-2
    Key Player - Mezut Ozil

Stoke v Norwich - Stoke have started well under Hughes, much to people’s surprise and they look a side capable of competing well in this year’s EPL, whereas Norwich have brought some good players but with Redmond aside they have not really performed yet. With Stoke playing well and Norwich being awful away from home, I can only see one winner here.

    Score Prediction 2-1
    Key Player - Steven Nzonzi

Sunderland v Liverpool - Here it is the moment all Liverpool fans have been looking forward to, the return of Suarez. It can’t come soon enough for them with the injury to Coutinho they seemed to miss his creativity against Southampton and Suarez will certainly provide that little spark of flair, and as Sunderland are a bit preoccupied at the moment, this looks straight forward for Liverpool, they will return to winning ways here quite comfortably.

    Score Prediction 1-4
    Key Player - Luis Suarez

Everton v Newcastle - this could be a good game to round off the week, Everton are in good for under Martinez without really playing really well they are still unbeaten and will be full of confidence in this game, they have a gem in Barkley and with the loan signing of Lukaku have another gear to go up and this could the game they do it. Although it depends on which Newcastle turn up, they certainly have the players to win here but will they show up, it’s anyone’s guess.

    Score Prediction 3-2
    Key Player - Ross Barkley

it can be a short one, back in 2 weeks. it can be over a month though if it's a bit more intrusive or a double hernia op. gareth barry is a good example on both counts

Just doing a bit of cystal ball gazing at the Ramsey situation....Caz is due back next week along with Arteta...and Walcott after the international break.. So where will that leave Ramsey ?...Will he not be fighting for a CDM spot along with three others ?..Flamini/Arteta/Wilshire/Ramsey...Have the nigh on a million new owners not bought a rotation risk ?..or am i reading it wrong ?

I agree, after the international break he'll have a lot of competition and Wenger LOVES Wilshere. The justification is that his form is so good he can't be dropped, but what happens if it peters out?

If his form peters out theres no point owning him anyway. AW does love JW but he dropped him at the end of last season for Rambo. Flamini is the less secure DM, especially as he is likely to be dropped for the easier games when we don't expect to come under a lot of pressure.

Yeah indeed...I love Wishire never mind Wenger...In fact i love all those four as CDM's, and Arsenal are in a lot of competitions..I just can't see Ramsey being Wengers's week in week out pick..why would he ?

Ramsey's not a rotation risk. He's been there best midfielder. Sure if he's crocked he'll lose his spot but Wilshere, Flamini, Arteta won't budge him on current form.

Yeah but he has no need to play that every game..up front he has clear best options but it's a little tighter at CDM in terms of quality of players....

This has been discussed to death over the last fortnight plus, imo Ramsey is playing so well he can't be dropped at the minute. So barring a big drop in form I would rest quite comfortably owning him.

I didn't take much notice prior to the news of Caz'z possible return as he was a great pick then...just getting a little muddier nowand just as i'm contemplating the mid priced mids.

Thing is before Caz, Podolski, Rosicky and Ox were injured Ramsey was still starting. He's started all the games so far. He has even had his share of starts over the last two seasons, sometimes even in the hole, when he was playing awful. So now he's back to his best I think it would be bizarre to bench him.

I refuse to consider him yet, not because of rotation risk but because his form must revert to the mean anytime now. I don't think he's world-class player. I may be dead wrong, but that's my thinking

I really gotta log off and try to get a little work done before the weekend, been on here the first 6 hours of the day. Good luck everyone! Sturridge (c) and no Rooney for me, so the weekend will be very, very interesting.

      Hi Everyone,

I've taken the plunge and got involved here because I have had the worst start of my entire FF career.

I've been very unlucky with choices - and have taken a couple of hits already - do we think it's too early for wildcard / is it worth taking a hit again this week?

      Boruc / Mignolet

      Rat / Coleman / Touré / Williams / Turner

Scheiderlein / Nolan / Ben Arfa / Paulinho / Moses

      Benteke / Welbeck / Soldaldo

I'm obviously removing Benteke - but i'd also like to get rid of Rat, Turner and Nolan.

I can be patient and do it week by week or just go for it.

This week I'm thinking Rooney > Benteke and Verts > Rat - I have 4.2 in the bank.

      Any ideas gratefully received.

      Cheers,
      Robin
