Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez make light work of struggling Sunderland, as Brendan Rodgersโ€™ decision to continue with a 3-5-2 formation allows the Redsโ€™ duo the chance to shine:

The Game Changer

A goal and a pair of assists took Daniel Sturridge to the top of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) standings this evening as Liverpool eased to victory in Sunderlandโ€™s first league match since the dismissal of Paolo Di Canio.

While the spotlight was on Luis Suarez, his Liverpool team-mate was amongst the points yet again as Sturridge atoned for a rare blank against Southampton last weekend with another handful of Fantasy points. Some were wary that Suarezโ€™ return would diminish Sturridgeโ€™s potential but the former Chelsea man showed great awareness to tee up both the Uruguayanโ€™s goals as Liverpool climbed to second.

Priced at 9.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Sturridge – along with Suarez โ€“ is set for significant investment over the next few days as the Merseysiders prepare for a home clash with Palace next weekend. While many of the other title contenders now have European commitments to contend with this week, Liverpool can now rest up until the Eagles come calling next Saturday afternoon; a factor that will surely benefit Sturridge as he looks to continue a record that has seen him score in five of the opening six Gameweeks.

The Underused

There was no real surprise that Luis Suarez stole the show on his return to league action earlier today. We handed the Uruguayan the headline act in this weekโ€™s Spot the Differential article and he duly delivered with a brace as Liverpool, somewhat significantly, scored more than two goals for the first time this term.

In a season that has mainly proved frustrating for Fantasy managers, Suarezโ€™ instant impact served a reminder of the potential that harvested 23 goals and 10 assists last time round. While fellow big hitters such as Robin Van Persie and Sergio Aguero were protected ahead of Champions League duties, Suarez will benefit from a schedule which has also been lightened by Liverpoolโ€™s Capital One Cup exit in midweek โ€“ game time looks guaranteed, with rest and rotation unnecessary for Rodgers.

Currently sitting at 10.9 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) with an ownership of just 7%, the bandwagon is set to shift through the gears as Fantasy managers look to find a way to bring Suarez on board as the Reds gear up for a favourable run of fixtures over the next few matches. Indeed, with Palace, Newcastle, West Brom and Fulham in the next five, doubling up on Liverpoolโ€™s front two looks a viable tactic for the next few Gameweeks.

The Selection Poser

Brendan Rodgers once again rolled out a 3-5-2 formation for the Merseysiders, continuing with the shape utilised in the midweek Capital One Cup clash against United. With Glen Johnson still injured, Rodgers clearly remains unconvinced over his alternatives at right-back and with a number of centre-halves at his disposal, looks set to retain a three-man backline until Johnson returns to the fold.

This will allow Jose Enrique to continue on the left of the Redsโ€™ five-man midfield, affording the Spaniard an out of position berth for the time being โ€“ an injury update issued last week suggested Johnson could be back in a “couple of weeks”, though. Also, the new formation also allows Rodgers to court caution with Daniel Agger after recent injury but with Kolo Toure, Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho all playing today, it remains to be seen just who will get the nod as Aggerโ€™s central defensive partner once the Merseysiders are finally injury-free. Enriqueโ€™s shift into midfield also allowed Victor Moses a central position behind Sturridge and Suarez though the on-loan midfielder failed to impress in his new role in โ€œthe holeโ€.

In the earlier game, Nathan Redmond missed out through injury for Norwich at Stoke. Having started each of the first five, the former Birmingham man was replaced by Anthony Pilkington at the Britannia and with the latter providing the assist for Jonny Howsonโ€™s winner, Chris Hughton has plenty to ponder ahead of next weekโ€™s clash against Chelsea, with Redmondโ€™s 4% FPL owners hoping he can force his way back into contention.

Nothing more reassuring than looking at number 1 in the hall of fame and noting that

A his rank is similarly bad to mine
B he just took a massive hit to buy players I wildcarded in!

Have you ever asked for advice on this site, agreed with the overwhelming consensus, then went against the advice ultimately? Have not made the moves yet, but think I might.

I feel that this is my team after all, and I alone bear the consequences of my choices.

I do have a good feeling of my choices, no matter how silly it seems. So I will trust my own judgement, and make my own decisions.

Now that the dust has settled is Soldado to Suarez worth a -4? Got 4 million in the bank and that transfer is temptin me as i'd captain Suarez. Will have to do it early though(no problem as i got 8 good attackers for this week so can handle 1 injury elsewhere and suarez aint playin midweek)

If I do decide to lose Giroud then I foresee my GW8 transfers being...

    Wilson & Giroud > Terry & Lukaku (2FTs)

Perhaps not the best time to lose Giroud before a home game to Norwich, but I already have Ozil and Ramsey to cover me for goals and plus Everton (HUL) and Chelsea (CAR) have great fixtures too..

Actually, Everton and Chelsea's fixtures from then onwards are amazing, all the the way up to the Jan WC... (bar GW14-15 for Everton)...

    Giving me

    Migs
    Baines Evra Terry (Clyne Burner)
    Ozil Michu Ramsey Barkley/Brady
    Rooney Sturridge Lukaku

That just leaves me with a few issues to solve in midfield, but waiting will give me the time I need to make better decisions regarding Ozil, Ramsey etc...

Quite excited about the prospect of having that team... ๐Ÿ˜€

        Yeah, it's very tough...

Ultimately, I retained him (and Sturridge) in my WC this week... at the expense of Suarez/Lukaku... time will tell if that was this right choice...

The thing is, I am planning for the likelihood that 3 Arsenal attackers will be too much soon, and it looks like it's either him or Ozil to go unfortunately...

So many other great striking options, and so little good big hitting midfield options right now makes Giroud a slight favourite to leave my team*... ๐Ÿ™

Agreed as a pool fan. 3 points is all that matters. But FPL wise it's not a good plan getting a Pool defender at the moment I reckon.

No CS in last 4 games.

Backline won't be settled until all injuries are cleared up.

Mignolet making more saves than any other keeper doesn't point to the defence being that sound although it will improve once they have a settled back 3 or 4.

He is a very good player alright. Not sure how nailed-on when Johnson, Agger, Cissokho are fit and also Kelly, Wisdom, Ilori and Coates are probably looking for a place on the bench. Methinks there'll be some rotation and Sakho looks the most nailed-on. Probably a back 3 of him Toure and Agger. Cissokho LB and Johnson RB.

Can anyone give suggestions on my team for GW7?

    Boruc
    Collins - Vidic - Coleman - Zabaleta
Ben Arfa - Ozil - Michu
    Lukaku - Soldado - Giroud

McGregor Barkley - Brady - Walker

That is what i have atm, anyone i should drop / replace.

I've got 1 free transfer and 0.8 in the bank. Maybe Soldado > Suarez?

Finally a green arrow after 3 shocking weeks, 55 with two to play is a decent WC return I think.

Save the FT for next week right?

I don't think it matters. You get another WC once playoffs begin...

I would use it between GW34-35 and load up on DGWers.

It's pretty cool, just got introduced to it this past week.

It has all sports matches... if you go on a 27 game winning streak, you win 250k.

You can only play 1 match at a time though.

        I'm on a 6 game winning streak!

Funny enough I had picked Patriots over Falcons... but I misclicked Redbulls over Seattle. I was pissed as I thought I'd lost... but Cahill scored to save the day! ๐Ÿ˜€

              No.. It has conditions sometimes..

              NYRB to tie or win.
              Seattle to win.

          Nice!
I've gone early with Wally and Giroud to Rambo and Suarez (c)
Didn't want to wait as I now have a .2 buffer to get Baines in for Coleman next week. After which team looks brilliant!

Selling Giroud is not popular, my thoughts:

Good hold up play. Shit finisher. He won't be near top goal scorers at the end of the season. He's over performed a bit and done well for me now's the time to sell.
Suarez Rooney Sturridge/Benteke/Lukaku is what I'm going forward with.
Wally is the one to get from Arsenal

Anyone else sticking with 5 and sub 5 defenders? Wanna spend my cash on a luxury defender(Terry/Walker) but i know the day i do i'll rue not havin that extra cash to upgrade an attacker.
    Defense currently is
    Boruc
    Coleman Reid Murner Toure Collins

Plan is either to go big and get Terry/Walker for Collins or get Davies/Williams instead and stick to my current strategy(Got Coleman @5)

                  :D. ok good

no I haven't. tbh I don't really watch tv... breaking bad was the first series i've seen more than half a dozen episodes of. next on my list is one of game of thrones, the sopranos, and the wire. not sure which one though

The wire will change the way you experience television. Watch GOT first and the first season of Sopranos. Watch the wire last as it will ruin all other tv for you for a long while.. it's that good seriously

Seriously though.. just watched 2 episodes of Masters of Sex and despite the name it is pretty good so far. I do have a thing for a 50's setting though
