Back after a five-week break, Granville and I have squeezed in two holidays, two wildcards, an engagement (certainly not to each other), a dose of man flu and a near-on leg amputation. Packed, I tell thee.

The other highlight has been the steady and consistent decline of my Fantasy season, giving my co-host Granville plenty of ammunition. Reclined in his armchair, leg braced like James Stewart, the stricken Mancunian leaves his Rear Window to investigate the brutal murder of my fantasy team.

Once the taunting dies down, we manage to tackle the old regulars: bandwagons are assessed, the weekend is previewed and the ScoutCast team gets some love on its way to outscoring my lineup for a fifth week running. Sigh.

Hobble our way via this link, or cast you ears in our direction via the player below:

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

how about doubling on Liverpool's defender? Mignolet and J. Enrique. I have a good feeling for J.Enrigue to score high points against C.Palace. He has a very high chance to clean sheet, assist, and score goals since Suarez has come back in squad.

There is a trap I repeatedly fell into last season and even more this season. Not selling an underperforming player because his fixtures were too good. See Coutinho, Mirallas, Barfa. The thing is, it's the goal involvement that matters.

For example, if the goal involvement is low 20%, does it matter much if the team's predicted goals are, say, 2.2 as opposed to 1.5? That would be 0.7x20% = 0.14 more goals your player is involved in, ie. you'd have to play 7 of those games to get involved in an extra goal.

        Mayne I'm losing myself lol.

But TL;DR, I'm not really swayed to keep Barfa for Cardiff on the basis of it being a 'good fixture'. Firstly I'm not sure it is, Cardiff seem strong at home. Secondly, it won't improve his odds of scoring much even if it is because he's not involved in enough of the goals anyway.

Yeah Remy stealing his thunder, but beware of a small amounts of statistical data. HBA isn't in great form himself hence the lower goal involvement.

ahhhh ok that makes sense now 🙂

I'm of the same view, Isacki. But while a good fixture is not a good reason in itself, it can grant a stay of execution by making the transfer less of a priority.

And the team performing. Not much point getting a player from a team thats struggling to score.

Ultimately you want high goal involvement (30%) coverage from a team that is scoring well. I would even advocate double coverage for teams that are in red hot form and scoring goals for fun.

I think anything else isn't as useful e.g 20% 2.2 goal average vs 30% 1.5 goal average (nothing in it).

Yeah goal involvement is possibly the most important single stat for me, unfortunately it's not so reliable early on in which case I look at who's taking the most shots in box in the team.

Absolute beasts for involvement that have paid off for me are Benteke and Sturridge who I think were over 40% last season and probably higher so far this season, RVP of course, Wally until he signed his contract, Fellaini, Lukaku, Michu..

Walcott and Ozil......honestly, I think Walcott is gonna score less this year. Everyone thinks he is gonna explode when he gets back, I just dont see it. I think giroud and Ozil are smart bets, rendering Walcott as surplus, in my opinion.

I did HBA to Ramsey@6.2 . Decided I could not ignore him anymore. He is defying previous form and if he maintains just 50% of his output so far, he'll be the top scoring fpl midfielder of the year. Yes big IF there, but little to lose as this budget friendly price. He should continue to score well next few GW and if he trails off later will sell him at a tidy profit. He could even be a captaincy option if his run continues!

Don't reckon you've missed the boat on Ramsey.... he's still only 6.5m and the games highest scoring mid. Ownership is a factor worth considering also.

I'd go Siggy first choice if from Spurs..

Success in a different league has not found its way to the Prem. NO goals from open play, has not looked sharp in the box - adjustment period perhaps but how long can you wait with so many other good options availbable?

He's not comfortable in the Prem. It just doesn't work out for some players here no matter how talented they are. Homesickness? Culture shock? Doesn't fit into the way the teams set up? Doesn't work well under pressure? It could be any reason. But you've held him too long. If he hasn't scored from open play against Palace, Norwich, Cardiff etc then who will he score against?

I would keep Eriksen. He wont let you down, just requires a little bit of patience 😉

Eriksen VS Paulinho battle, Eriksen IMO

      Why?

Paulinho might have better stats than Eriksen, as many have pointed out, but I do believe that Eriksen will come good soon, and will more than make up for extra 1.2 m you'd have to fork out to purchase him over Paulinho.

He orchestrates just about every Spurs attack, and sure he might "assist the assister" from time to time, but I have no doubt that his assist tally will start to rise significantly, and get the occasional goal. As we have seen, he is also more than capable of shooting from distance. He did score 10 goals during the course of the season( 2012/2013 ) for Ajax.

and just to push you over : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBAacmxYMug

+ He is on all set pieces
and Stats show that Eriksen's average position is quite far up the pitch. In fact, I believe in one of the last few games , his average position on the pitch was in front of Soldado!

But , by all means, please do pick Paulinho, might just help my rank a bit

Well at least that's what I think, and for my sake, let's just hope Eriksen is the better pick!

Basically, what I posted on the hot topic last night 🙂

Any hits worthwhile here? I'm not sure there are any mids that warrant a hit to bring in for Nolan this week, which leaves me with the Soldado -> Suarez(c) option for a hit. I think I'd prefer to have Suarez over Sturridge long term, and whilst both is fine for this week (CRY), I think it's too much long term given the other options up front.
