We left Gameweek 7 out of pocket although, to be honest, when we’re backing the seemingly unpredictable talents of Victor Moses and Christian Eriksen, perhaps we only have ourselves to blame. We’re on safer ground with the “flutter” this week, banking on two consistent goalscorers with plum home fixtures to give us every chance of snatching some pennies back from Paddy Power.

Before we look at this weekend’s markets, a reminder that Paddy have nudged another set of enhanced odds our way for the weekend. They’re offering 4/1 on a Spurs win at Villa on Sunday. With regular punters getting evens on a Tottenham win, this is another great little opportunity to grab a Paddy Power account and take advantage.

Shifting to our weekend bets with our crispy tenner, we kick things off by backing Swansea’s Michu. Buoyed by his first cap for Spain over the break, he is safely snuggled in the Scout Picks midfield ahead of a home clash with the beleaguered Black Cats. Sunderland turn up at the Liberty with a new manager and fresh ideas but we reckon Michael Laudrup’s slick-passing side will have too much for them. A home win looks likely and with Paddy offering 7/2 on a Michu strike with a Swansea clean sheet, we’ll gladly take them up on that to the tune of £4.

Up front, we were briefly toying with omitting Olivier Giroud from the Scout Picks in favour of a United striker but, with David Moyes’ side misfiring and Arsenal looking odds-on for an Emirates win over visitors Norwich, the Frenchman was irresistible. Without a goal in his last three league outings, we’re backing an end to the dry spell and, with Paddy dangling odds of 11/2 on a Giroud goal with an Arsenal clean sheet against Norwich, we’ll lay down another £4 of our stake, here.

That leaves us just a couple of shekels in the kitty for our final market but, with generous odds on show, that’s not a problem. Sitting comfortably in the Scout Picks midfield, Jason Puncheon will carry a big threat to Fulham when they pay visit to Selhurst Park on Monday night. It’s also worth noting that Martin Jol’s side have just a single goal on the road this term so, when Paddy offer 10/1 on Puncheon to notch with a clean sheet for Palace it would be rude not to take them up.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally, of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Went with my gut and Sturridge out for Lukaku -4. Despite the Newcastle rotting defense making the call hard.

    Now for the C decision Lukaku or Rooney?

      Very brave to dump Sturridge. Saying that I kept him and dropped Rooney for Lukaku - you can't have them all eh!

      I would definitely captain Lukaku, Soton have a strong defensive record and United are temperamental at best.

        I had to make that call as I have both Suarez and him, and as I did my research and found that never in history of PL football has a 2 man pairing both scored over 20 goals. So I went for Suarez and hope that they dont switch formation as I think he will be more dominant in this format.

    Is it worth taking a hit to get Michu into this team for this round:

    Boruc-Migs
    Coleman-Terry-Clyne-Walker-Chico
    Mata-Ramsey-Whittingham-Amalfitano-Sigurdsson
    Suarez-Giroud-Sturridge

    I have 1 FT, but can only afford Michu straight away if I swap Mata for him. My plan is to swap SIgurdsson for him, but that leaves me 0.2 short in cash. So, need to fund the transfer with another transfer. Maybe one of these:

    A) Sig & Stu -> Michu & Lukaku
    B) Sig & Suarez -> Michu & Lukaku
    C) Sig & Ramsey -> Michu & Barkley
    D) Sig & Ramsey -> Michu & Januzaj
    E) ???

    What do you think?

        The guy who said 1 minute to deadline made me push the panic button and ship Suarez out for Lukaku to get Michu in!!! LOL I fear I will regret this a lot. Then again, I've been so firmly thinking I will get Michu and Lukaku in this round, that I kind of knew I was going to move either Suarez or Sturridge out in any case. It's not only this round, it is that Lukaku and Michu are very in form and have astonishing fixtures coming, and this GW has just one of the best fixtures for both of them. Plus I kind of fear the unpredictable Newcastle. I fear Suarez will score massively. Then again, Johnson back may move him to the flank.

    RVP has been seriously helped by the flagging gods at FPL:

    He has lost 525k owners but only decreased in value by 0.1. Crazy!

    Again today, he is falling fast but his flag will be removed when he starts or comes off the bench today therefore resets his NTI.

    I'm an owner but this needs to be rectified next season.

          Yeah likewise. I think it's gonna be a 1-2 week punt for team value before getting Brady back

        Chelsea have had lots of shots this season, cardiff have conceded most shots.

        Hazard is my one week punt. Also have Oscar

        Giroud only Arsenal cover

    Stoke or Spurs......who is more likely to keep a cleanie?

    - Common sense says stoke with them being @home
    - Gut says spurs after their hammering last gw

    Who to bench?
    Kolo or Joel Ward. My other defenders are Terry, Baines (definitely playing them) & Chester (out)

    Getting rid of Sturridge will either be one of my best calls, like laying down kings when other guy has aces in poker. Or being outbluffed by Lukakus beastlyness

      Never be afraid of ditching players that may seem good on paper

      Binned Rooney before the Sunderland game for Suarez, worked out okay

        I backed Sturridge for the golden boot before the start, but the change in formation makes only 1 of SAS an option, or even both bad

        I will but having both suarez and Sturridge is not a good plan long term, and I can switch back if I made the wrong call, and Lukaku seems like a must have

        Lukaku scores more and playing in a 2 up front has hurt his stats. So only need to choose 1 of the Liverpool strikers, both cant flourish IMO. Never in FPL history has a 2 up front have 2 players scoring over 20 goals
