City’s irresistible attack brings more joy for a pair of players who are prompting Fantasy managers back to the drawing board. Elsewhere, Everton’s loanee hitman disappoints in a Gameweek where striking rivals deliver once again.

The Game Changer

Sergio Aguero’s form is becoming increasingly hard to ignore. City are clear at the top of the goalscoring stakes and David Silva’s return appears to have re-ignited their form and, in particular, that of the Argentinian marksman.

A brace at Upton Park this evening brings Aguero to five strikes in his last three league matches. Had his spot-kick counted in his favour against Everton in Gameweek 7 and not been registered as an own goal, Aguero would likely be out in front as the FPL’s top scoring player.

Largely ignored while we waited on Manuel Pellegrini’s teamsheet trends, it’s become clear that, despite competition up front, Aguero is key to the Chilean’s plans and central to City’s title challenge.

With just over 10% ownership, we’re looking at a low-level differential with explosive qualities. Even with such fierce competition for places in our forward lines, his form in a City attack that looks full of goals, simply has to demand our attention and have us at least consider a route to recruit.

The Underused

David Silva has emerged as a rare commodity – a reliable heavy hitter from midfield.

While Mesut Ozil retuned strongly for the Gunners today, the German international is an established favourite in over a third of FPL lineups. In contrast, Silva’s ownership sits under 5% meaning that, like Aguero, he stands out a hugely effective differential. Significantly, the Spaniard has either scored or assisted in four of his five league starts this season – that is a consistency that, arguably, only Ozil and Aaron Ramsey can currently rival in midfield.

Tonight many Fantasy managers will be weighing up a dilemma – Aguero or Silva. With City blitzing opponents with goals – it’s becoming clear that we can’t go on ignoring the potential of their two protagonists.

The Selection Poser

Romelu Lukaku’s failure in the win over Hull is surely forgivable given his impressive impact on arrival at Goodison. In a Gameweek where almost every other heavy-hitting striker delivered, however, it will greatly frustrate the Belgian’s owners.

Having hovered up new owners over the international break, it remains to be seen if today’s 68-minute blank will raise the first alarm bells. It’s unthinkable to consider that Lukaku won’t go on delivering value for his 8.0 price tag but value from our strikers isn’t a major consideration, right now.

There could be concern that, long-term, Lukaku may struggle to keep pace with the Liverpool pairing, Olivier Giroud, Sergio Aguero and United’s forwards – this is without considering the return of Christian Benteke.

With so much value available in midfield, three heavy-hitting forwards can be a reality and, given the form being shown in the current Fantasy landscape, we can’t afford a drop in output from any of our strikers, particularly those who tempt the armband. It may be just one blank but Lukaku needs a goal at Villa.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Eriksen out Oscar in before the price rise yes or no? (I want Hazard but in my league i am about 70 pts back and most of the leaders have Hazard whereas nobody has Oscar or Eriksen)
My team atm (1 FT, 0.9 in Bank)

    Mignolet (Lewis)
    Clyne, Rangel, Evra (Coleman, Chester)
Michu, Eriksen, Ozil, Whittingham (4.3 mid)
    Rooney, Sturridge, Lukaku

Should I pull the trigger on Nolan to Oscar?
Can't afford the transfer I wait until after tonight's transfers.

Other options are Nolan to Silva but I need to downgrade Collins for a hit if that is the case.
I already have Aguero so getting Silva for a hit might not be the best move
I could also replace Collins instead of Nolan.

    Thoughts?

OPTA gave it to Miralles, no arguments.

I'm pretty disappointed Lovren goal didn't stand just becuase it brushed lallana calf. When they took it away, it cost 6 points. 3 for the goal and the 3 baps.

I think the fact that Barry was offside means they couldn't have attributed it to him anyway. In fairness Lallana's touch did significantly change the direction of the ball.

Southampton have been immense so far. 34 points would be lucky - you can't plan for clean sheets away to Liverpool and Man U, but you can plan keeper rotation based on fixtures and price. That's the point I'm making.

      same here. i'm puzzled.
hazard, with a little more form has more goals and assists but oscar has that form, with smaller rewards but more consistency
hazard offers greater chance for value appreciation but i think i still might go for oscar?

      what does everyone else think???

Hazard by a whisker for me. No real competition on the left where as Mata can step in for Oscar when the champions league comes around.

Yes, just as De Bruyne is competition for the RW spot, but Schurle isn't in the class of Hazard - not yet anyway.

Where did I say Oscar isn't the preferred starter? He's not going to play 38 league games is he? He was rested today as Chelsea have CL midweek and Man City next weekend. Chelsea have a ready made replacement for the #10 role.

Too much rotation risk for both, it doesn't compare to the suarez v sturridge choice in my opinion as both of those are good options.

    Decisions decisions, please help.

    Current team is...
    Migs - Marshall
    Coleman - Dawson - Wilson - Clyne - Burner
    Ozil - Ramsey - Michu - Paulinho - Morrison
    Lukaku - Giroud - Suarez

2 free transfers and 3 mil in the bank. I think 1 transfer will be Wilson to a Swansea defender. And I'll wait until after spurs play tomorrow but which option do you prefer?

    A) Upgrade my defence
    B) Paulinho or Michu to Oscar or Silva
    C) Giroud to Aguero

    Cheers

Wilson as your 4th defender, first one of the bench need to upgrade.

Advice required. Can only do it next week if I plan before any price rises.

I want to do these transfers next week (saving transfer this week)

    Rooney, Vidic, Coleman OUT
    Aguero, Terry, Chico IN

    for -4.

    Look good?

I think so. I like it very much. I would have Aguero for Giroud if I could afford him!

Yep, this and consider Giroud given Arsenal's midfield. Sturridge is also looking sharp.

      Picking strikers isn't the problem!

    Williams or Johnson and why?

Johnson played more forward than any Liverpool mid today, and though he's always been terrible in front of goal I can't help but think he'll get the odd assist.
Swansea have better fixtures, and though I reckon both teams will get a few cleanies in the next few and I have an inkling he will be a baps magnet. Unless anyone can tell me otherwise..

Hazard playing at home to Cardiff and not for a fraction of a second did I consider captaining him. That's an indictment on his season and the brainwashing we're all part of on here.
