City’s irresistible attack brings more joy for a pair of players who are prompting Fantasy managers back to the drawing board. Elsewhere, Everton’s loanee hitman disappoints in a Gameweek where striking rivals deliver once again.

The Game Changer

Sergio Aguero’s form is becoming increasingly hard to ignore. City are clear at the top of the goalscoring stakes and David Silva’s return appears to have re-ignited their form and, in particular, that of the Argentinian marksman.

A brace at Upton Park this evening brings Aguero to five strikes in his last three league matches. Had his spot-kick counted in his favour against Everton in Gameweek 7 and not been registered as an own goal, Aguero would likely be out in front as the FPL’s top scoring player.

Largely ignored while we waited on Manuel Pellegrini’s teamsheet trends, it’s become clear that, despite competition up front, Aguero is key to the Chilean’s plans and central to City’s title challenge.

With just over 10% ownership, we’re looking at a low-level differential with explosive qualities. Even with such fierce competition for places in our forward lines, his form in a City attack that looks full of goals, simply has to demand our attention and have us at least consider a route to recruit.

The Underused

David Silva has emerged as a rare commodity – a reliable heavy hitter from midfield.

While Mesut Ozil retuned strongly for the Gunners today, the German international is an established favourite in over a third of FPL lineups. In contrast, Silva’s ownership sits under 5% meaning that, like Aguero, he stands out a hugely effective differential. Significantly, the Spaniard has either scored or assisted in four of his five league starts this season – that is a consistency that, arguably, only Ozil and Aaron Ramsey can currently rival in midfield.

Tonight many Fantasy managers will be weighing up a dilemma – Aguero or Silva. With City blitzing opponents with goals – it’s becoming clear that we can’t go on ignoring the potential of their two protagonists.

The Selection Poser

Romelu Lukaku’s failure in the win over Hull is surely forgivable given his impressive impact on arrival at Goodison. In a Gameweek where almost every other heavy-hitting striker delivered, however, it will greatly frustrate the Belgian’s owners.

Having hovered up new owners over the international break, it remains to be seen if today’s 68-minute blank will raise the first alarm bells. It’s unthinkable to consider that Lukaku won’t go on delivering value for his 8.0 price tag but value from our strikers isn’t a major consideration, right now.

There could be concern that, long-term, Lukaku may struggle to keep pace with the Liverpool pairing, Olivier Giroud, Sergio Aguero and United’s forwards – this is without considering the return of Christian Benteke.

With so much value available in midfield, three heavy-hitting forwards can be a reality and, given the form being shown in the current Fantasy landscape, we can’t afford a drop in output from any of our strikers, particularly those who tempt the armband. It may be just one blank but Lukaku needs a goal at Villa.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

So it's 68 for me this week with Dawson and Paulinho to play. I'm pretty happy with that.
    My team just now is:
    Mignolet - Boruc
    Ivanovic - Clyne - Coleman - Dawson - Zabaleta
    Ozil - Paulinho - Ramsey - Barkley - Brady
    Suarez - Sturridge - Rooney
    0.9 in the bank.

I'm thinking of Zabaleta to Chico this week and then Sturridge to Aguero next week. Any better ideas? Anything I'm missing? i'm also tempted by Soldado, Giroud, Michu, Oscar, and Hazard. So many hard decision!

I agree that Rooney out is an option, since Man Utd are really struggling at the moment. Saving money on Benteke could allow an upgrade of Brady to a Chelsea midfielder, which is pretty tempting. Since I have Clyne and Boruc, I think I'm well enough cover for Southampton defence. Thanks for thoughts!

No worries. Only other thing I'd say (if you were interested) is Paulinho to someone like Michu or Hazard (like you said) rather than Brady - BUT, if you're going cheaper defence like I am now switching to it lends to a 3-4-3 formation so probs you need at least three expensive mids.

Hmm. I need to look at my team! 🙂

I could do Zabaleta to Chico, Sturridge to Soldado, and Paulinho to Oscar/Hazard. For now I might keep patience with Paulinho. I'm hoping he has points in him in the next couple of weeks -- possibly a misguided optimism. Maybe even Brady is worth keeping as a fifth mid who sometimes scores well. I'm shifting formations between 3-4-3 and 4-3-3 just now with the new bonus and defence-favouring regime.

The think that kills me about this game is that you can do everything right. Make the all the wrong moves and still prosper. Ie. Aaron Ramsey....those of us who said "his ship has sailed" were correct. With cazorla and arteta now fit his playing time was sure to be limited. If you look at the posts when the team sheets were announced today you will see all the crying that went on.

Not being sour grapes.....just pointing out how this game can change.

Rambo is a holding midfield player. Before this weekends games (don't have the new stats), Ramsey had the most tackles of ANY player in the league with 35, with a success of over 85%. He is immense defensively. Jack will be a sub, but either way he is better from deep. He certainly isn't a winger.

Difficult one. I would keep him for now. This is unless you have 2 FT's and no pressing issues with your team.

GJ is great at his price.

      Won't stay 5.7 for sure.

    Mignolet
    Coleman, VIDIC, Clyne
    Ozil, Michu, Barkley, R Morrison
    Lukaku, Suarez, Giroud

    Lewis, Brady, B Turner, WILSON

    How about this?

I am worried about the two players in CAP's.

If Vidic does not play, I have B Turner there. I want to keep Vidic. If he does play, he has a great chance of a clean sheet against a team who really struggle to score.

I have a nice 5.7m in the bank and 1 FT.

Is there a better defensive replacement for Zab than Clyne? Also gives me the cash to upgrade Moses to Silva next week, and I can finally stop routing against Southampton so hard.

    Vorm (Marshall)

    Evra-Coleman-Murner (Zabaleta-Burner)

Thanks dude. To your question above: I think it makes sense to keep Vidic, assuming he's fit.

Glad I stuck by Hazard and didn't panic into selling him and it truly was Chico time today!

Yes, Chico, the man who saved my round! Had him already last round, now he is starting to deliver, finally.

Any predictions for the Liverpool defence next gameweek? Time for Agger to be recalled?

FOOOOORKKKK!!! I have worse than disappoiniting GW, one after another. How come can Michu not score nor even assist when Swans score 4!?!?

Well, I still think my team is very trong and will deliver in the long run, no need to push the panic button... again. Done it twice in two rounds now.
