City’s irresistible attack brings more joy for a pair of players who are prompting Fantasy managers back to the drawing board. Elsewhere, Everton’s loanee hitman disappoints in a Gameweek where striking rivals deliver once again.

The Game Changer

Sergio Aguero’s form is becoming increasingly hard to ignore. City are clear at the top of the goalscoring stakes and David Silva’s return appears to have re-ignited their form and, in particular, that of the Argentinian marksman.

A brace at Upton Park this evening brings Aguero to five strikes in his last three league matches. Had his spot-kick counted in his favour against Everton in Gameweek 7 and not been registered as an own goal, Aguero would likely be out in front as the FPL’s top scoring player.

Largely ignored while we waited on Manuel Pellegrini’s teamsheet trends, it’s become clear that, despite competition up front, Aguero is key to the Chilean’s plans and central to City’s title challenge.

With just over 10% ownership, we’re looking at a low-level differential with explosive qualities. Even with such fierce competition for places in our forward lines, his form in a City attack that looks full of goals, simply has to demand our attention and have us at least consider a route to recruit.

The Underused

David Silva has emerged as a rare commodity – a reliable heavy hitter from midfield.

While Mesut Ozil retuned strongly for the Gunners today, the German international is an established favourite in over a third of FPL lineups. In contrast, Silva’s ownership sits under 5% meaning that, like Aguero, he stands out a hugely effective differential. Significantly, the Spaniard has either scored or assisted in four of his five league starts this season – that is a consistency that, arguably, only Ozil and Aaron Ramsey can currently rival in midfield.

Tonight many Fantasy managers will be weighing up a dilemma – Aguero or Silva. With City blitzing opponents with goals – it’s becoming clear that we can’t go on ignoring the potential of their two protagonists.

The Selection Poser

Romelu Lukaku’s failure in the win over Hull is surely forgivable given his impressive impact on arrival at Goodison. In a Gameweek where almost every other heavy-hitting striker delivered, however, it will greatly frustrate the Belgian’s owners.

Having hovered up new owners over the international break, it remains to be seen if today’s 68-minute blank will raise the first alarm bells. It’s unthinkable to consider that Lukaku won’t go on delivering value for his 8.0 price tag but value from our strikers isn’t a major consideration, right now.

There could be concern that, long-term, Lukaku may struggle to keep pace with the Liverpool pairing, Olivier Giroud, Sergio Aguero and United’s forwards – this is without considering the return of Christian Benteke.

With so much value available in midfield, three heavy-hitting forwards can be a reality and, given the form being shown in the current Fantasy landscape, we can’t afford a drop in output from any of our strikers, particularly those who tempt the armband. It may be just one blank but Lukaku needs a goal at Villa.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    It's decision time. Do I:

    a) Swallow my pride, accept that Ramsey is this year's Michu, and get him in before his price goes up any further

    or

    b) Stick to my guns, and adamantly insist that his recent goal scoring exploits are no more than a short-lived purple path

Option B sounds more appealing at the minute, but probably only because I might get to say I told you so later...

This is exactly the same dilemma I face. No idea what I will do, I have been one of those adamantly supporting the fact that he simply can't keep scoring, but it is very frustrating to be proven wrong week after week.

One of the things that concerns me about him is Arteta's return, and Wilshere's decent form recently. But I dont think I can afford to keep watching him score as one the 50% of fpl who doesn't have him

Surely Ozil is the clear Arsenal pick with Ramsey and walcott as other options?

i've ozil ramsey giroud. served me well today. i'd like walcott too, and might drop giroud soon for him, if nothing else pressing in my ridiculously injury prone team.

The price difference was a consideration in my answer.

Also, Cazorla outscored Walcott, but Walcott played a lot less than Walcott did. Walcott outscored Cazorla per minute.

(I'm an Ozil and Cazorla owner as well, and I'l be bringing in Walcott :D)

            fair point

My only thought is Ozil is more nailed than any of the other mids and its no conincidence they have mved up a level since he signed.

Bear in mind though, that Cazorla played over a thousand extra minutes than Walcott. Walcott's points per minute was far better

Save my 1FT with 5.7m in the bank?

    Mignolet
    Coleman, VIDIC, Clyne
    Ozil, Michu, Barkley, R Morrison
    Lukaku, Suarez, Giroud

    Lewis, Brady, B Turner, WILSON

Players in cap's are worrying me. Thing is, if Vidic starts he is likely to get a CS. Stoke are struggling to score.

    Mignolet, Rudd.
    Koscielny, Vidic, Baines, Shaw, Turner.
    Eriksen, Michu, Barkley, Januzaj, Whittingham
    Rooney, Suarez, Giroud.

    1FT £0.7m in the bank.

Baines & Eriksen ➡ Johnson & Ozil (-4)? With a view to bringing in Benteke/Negredo in for Giroud next week alongside Januzaj/Whittingham to Brady.

First rule of FPL - never look a gift horse in the mouth even if taking a hit.

This week I was sure big hitting midfielders would provide big returns. Instead of playing Morrison and benching Moses I contemplated selling Moses for Hazard, Silva or Oscar then benching Morrison. So what did I do? Yeah, I kept the 4 pts in the bag and watched the horror unfold before my eyes.

    Not doing that again!

Lowly Crystal Palace v free scoring, top of the table Arsenal next week? Did you say neigh?!! Saddle that horse and ride it home!

No, I think Zep was right. He wasn't making any comments about GJ's average position, just that he's not really an attacking threat.

His one shot on target today epitomised the problem for me - he cut in from the wing to unleash a shot from outside the box that was comfortably saved by the keeper. Until he gets into the box and shoots from close range, his attacking potential just isn't that great. In my opinion.
