Having published articles on our recommended Defenders and Midfielders for the next four-to-six Gameweeks, we now assess the men up front. Liverpool’s dynamic duo continue to lead the way, though City’s irrepressible Argentine stakes a claim on the back of an eye-catching series of displays and goals.

Liverpool duo Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez hold the top two spots respectively, with the Englishman’s incredible form and slightly cheaper price allowing him to nip ahead of his more explosive colleague. Anfield encounters with West Brom, Fulham and Norwich in the next six, in addition to a trip to Hull, bode well for the Reds duo, whilst visits to league leaders Arsenal and Merseyside rivals Everton should hold no fear, given their respective lack of resilience. Fantasy managers opting to go without either face further agonising weeks in the next month.

Sergio Aguero surges up our rankings to third place. The Argentine seems to have finally found his form under Manuel Pellegrini and with back-to-back braces in all competitions over the last few days, he looks irresistible right now and surely immune to rotation. A flourishing partnership with fit-again David Silva, allied with Pellegrini’s keenness to go on the offensive, means Aguero was the most transferred-in forward this Gameweek – he squares off against an uncharacteristically vulnerable Chelsea defence before embarking on a run that includes Norwich and Sunderland in the next three.

Olivier Giroud drops down to fourth, having featured heavily for both club and country since the start of the season. While his form is undeniable – two assists in the league last time out and a midweek goal against Dortmund – the Frenchman has publicly declared his need for a rest, with next week’s Capital One Cup clash against Chelsea the likely time to draft in Nicklas Bendtner. Given that the Gunners face Liverpool and Manchester United over the upcoming weeks, Giroud looks too essential to skip league duties.

High intensity Romelu Lukaku carried the armband for many last week, with only a 70-minute appearance and two points to show for it. Trips to Villa Park and Crystal Palace should provide the robust frontman plenty of opportunities to improve his fitness and his tally as the Toffees continue to keep pace with their Merseyside rivals.

Wayne Rooney falls outside the top five. A draw against Southampton and a faltering midweek win inspire little confidence in Manchester United assets; however the England star’s price and set-piece threat are enough to warrant continued interest. The Reds could welcome a ramshackle Stoke defence to Old Trafford on Saturday prior to a trip to Fulham, as Rooney looks to maintain a run that has harvested a goal or assist in four of the last five.

Manager Paul Lambert may be treating Christian Benteke with care following his return from injury, but there’s no denying the midlands outfit have missed their powerful front man. With one of the tastiest fixture lists on offer, owners of the big Belgian will no doubt be salivating at the prospect of home clashes against Everton and Cardiff, along with a trip to hit-and-miss West Ham in the next three weeks. Subject to mass sales following his injury, an 8.8 price looks all the more appealing.

Loic Remy remains on our radars ahead of a promising derby against strugglers Sunderland. Offering a consistency unrivalled by fellow Geordie forwards and an attractive price for those seeking to invest elsewhere, the Frenchman may well be worth holding onto for another week. With Chelsea visiting St James’ Park before a tricky to White Hart Lane in the weeks after, the case is hardly clear cut, though.

Last season’s Golden Boot winner Robin Van Persie drops down the pecking order amid concerns over form and fitness. Missing out on Champions League duties in midweek due to toe and groin problems, it’s clear that David Moyes is desperate to protect the talismanic Dutchman at every opportunity – subsequently, it becomes increasingly difficult to justify a 13.9 outlay for a forward that may well not start. After scoring from open play for the first time since Gameweek 1 last weekend, the United frontman has done just about enough to earn a place on this week’s Watchlist. With the premium assets in midfield performing so well and with Aguero to add to the growing list of high-performing forwards, Van Persie’s days in the top ten may well be numbered.

With a kind schedule (and spot-kick duties, as we discovered last time out) boosting his appeal, Wilfried Bony Bony rounds off the list. Yet to really hit form this year, the summer signing has the perfect platform to cement a place in Michael Laudrup’s side as Swansea face West Ham, Cardiff and Stoke in succession. However, with Europa League fixtures and the versatile Michu able to play up front, the Eredivisie import may be a gamble too far for our crowded forward lines.

I think i'm gonna get DDG eventually, i want United defensive coverage but can't trust the back 4, apart from Evra, to start. So i need to downgrade to afford that move in a couple of weeks.

Can't see anything other than a Spurs clean sheet on Sunday. That's if Hull can put a team out 😆

I hate to be the guy who reposts, but I'd love some more feedback on this WC side (thanks Senegoal). Feels a bit weird as I'm only changing 5 players on this WC.

    Boruc

    Zabaleta -- Dawson -- Coleman

    Oscar -- Ramsey -- Michu -- Janujaz

    Giroud -- Rooney -- Suarez

Subs: Davis -- Brady -- Reid -- Clyn

      Walker for Zabaleta

AWilliams for Dawson (after drop to 4.8 in about an hour)

MTurner or Vlaar for Clyne if you're going to start Boruc every week

I'm sure you've thought plenty about the front 8, and if that's the lot you've settled on, far be it from me to changer your mind at this stage.

Yeah he looks nailed on, might be 100% v 80% or something.

I do wonder how the pricing of my team is gonna work. Presumably he will be my 4th mid at 5.2. Then my 3th mid will be Ramsey at 6.7 and I'll have two heavy hitters (Michu and Oscar/Walcott). And a useless 5th mid (Pozuelo).

Is that enough of a midfield?

I'm not sure how I would get Brady as I have the useless sack of shit that is Ward-Prowse.

Firstly, Oscar is proving to be consistent, and Chelsea's fixtures aren't half bad, so I doubt it.

With Swansea's fixtures and not exactly playing badly, this is where Michu should pick up a few of his goals in the season, so no, still a good option.

Been so impressed with Ramsey and Arsenal, as long as he keeps getting on that pitch he'll keep the points ticking over. Very impressed with the amount of times he gets into the box, even against Dortmund he got into dangerous positions and had a goal disallowed!

Amalfitano, been a right spark for West Brom and I can imagine most good they do will come from him. Coupled with the price and some of the fixtures, not a lot to lose.

Brady has been my savior this season and I really wish I'd just kept hold of him. Cheap, nailed on, set pieces, penalties. What's more to say?

Let's compare their two goals at Old Trafford.

Amalfitano ran from the halfway line taking on players to eventually out wit De Gea by chipping him.

Lallana's came from Lovren heading the ball between his legs and rolling in off the back of his calf from one yard out in the 89th minute.

I don't really get why Lallana is suddenly attractive to people. Definitely a flair pick not a numbers pick. Gets less shots than Ramsey and not even on the ball anywhere near the same amount. The only good stat for him is his crossing.

Put Benteke in for Giroud now, and save yourself a transfer later.

Why are you double Southampton defense? Change Clyne to Williams after he drops to 4.8 in 40 minutes.

Spurs defensive coverage might be handy as well

I like Michu for his run, but flair would be to double up on Hazard and Oscar for Chelsea's run instead

Like the look of that WC side! Assuming Lukaku > Benteke next GW?

Perhaps A.Williams instead of Vlaar? Although, he's out, if you're not reliant on him this GW, probably represents better value than Vlaar - once he's price goes down during the next update, of course!

I think it's nuts, but you never know. Play Giroud anyways. If he's benched, Amal will come off your bench with the points. Don't think he'll be rested and get a five minute cameo

Absolutely nuts IMO. Giroud is one of the top 3 captaincy options. Yes there is a risk of rotation which may be enough to deter from captaining when you have Suarez but don't drop him.

A lot to be said I think for snatching up players that have gone down in value through injury or whatever (aside from those dropped cos they're terrible). Most seem likely to at least regain their original value if not more, so you make a quick profit and get a decent player, not just some bandwagon.

Lukaku and Hazard (wish i brought him in) have repaid the faith. I've drafted in Glen Johnson this week.

Looking keenly at Benteke and Walcott now.

I think Wakeys falling stars basically sums this up, but I just wanted to bring it up with particular attention to those who have dropped significant value.

      Cheers.

"Lallana is a very good player, take nothing away from him but he’s playing in a much more defensive team compared to previous seasons. The style of play under Pochettino is a lot different than under Adkins."

Exactly, plus the only time he ever got ownable stats he was in the Championship.

      I don't see a tempting transfer there.

Not even much goal threat though for Lallana. To rely on Osvaldo converting his crosses doesn't seem like much upside to me, not too many assists from crosses in my experience.

        My only backup is Cardiff.

He's a player I've wanted to get rid of for a couple of weeks now and given concerns up top it's not something I can do for free.

7 points for me in the last 5 weeks. Other defenders have returned over 30 points in that period.

Long term, assuming his injury doubts and the shaky United defence continues, it's a move which will prove justified so long as an appropriate replacement is picked.
