These are hazardous times. Shopping in midfield is a thankless task, with little value and consistency on offer, aside from a pair of dominant forces who threaten to break the season, along with the hearts and minds of those too stubborn to jump on board their seemingly relentless bandwagons.

In this latest episode of the podcast, I lay the blame for my inept season squarely at the feet of my failing midfield and my reluctance to give Aaron Ramsey the time of day. Oh, how I crave those predictable days of the ever-reliable “Power Five”.

Granville does his best to ensure that my moans fall on sympathetic ears, although his sniggering gives him away on more than one occasion. In between giggles, my co-host joins me to dissect the week’s transfer activity, preview the weekend’s fixtures and mastermind another mediocre Gameweek for the ScoutCast lineup.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Here's the team right now

    Boruc
    Coleman, Fonte, Walker
    Brady, Ramsey, Lallana, Ozil
    Lukaku, Suarez, Rooney

Subs - Mignolet, Johnson, Vidic, Amalfitano

    Couple questions arise..

    1. Who do you think I should make captain? Currently sitting on Suarez.

    2. Is there any thing I should do to the team? Currently have 1FT and I'm not sure if I should sit on it or what?

    Thanks all 🙂

      1. Suarez is by far the best option imho for this weeks captaincy.

      2. I would play Johnson over Walker. And Walker over Brady. I'd save the free as it is a good solid team.

Thinking about Giroud out for Lukau or Benteke... Lukaku has scored every away game he has played in but Benteke has better upcoming fixtures... or just save the transfer?

id prefer lukaku to benteke or giroud.. better player than giroud by far. and on a better team than benteke, so should get better service, and cheaper. i dont know how much he is now.. im guessing 8? i got him at 7.5

        He's 8.1 which is a steal!

Can't see him not scoring this week tbh.
I actually think Lukaku's schedule is better than Rooney's until GW 16.

i'm thinking the same transfer (giroud -> benteke), but a bit reluctant to play the fixtures..i transferred out rooney in gw 8 -> lukaku due to his fixtures at that time, and a bit regrets to do that move..though to be fair,it allowed me to do lukaku -> aguero last week without any hesitation..

its not really a risky move or a gamble..i think lukaku has a great chance to score a brace. only reason im not going to do it myself is i have suarez aswell... and he has a higher chance of scoring and is at home. it could happen but the odds are in suarez favour.

yea this is the train of thought i'm going with. Lukaku does have a great chance of getting a good score but is it too much of a gamble picking him over Suarez because of the form + home + opposition factor.

Lukaku does have some form, but it would take a really brave person to captain Lukaku over Suarez. Maybe not really risky/gamble as you've pointed out, but brave 🙂

I dont think this is the week to roll the dice to be honest. If there were 3/4 solid captaincy options then going for a punt could pay off, but with so many people going for Suarez (C) (myself included), if he runs riot and Lukaku blanks then you'll be surrounded by red arrows.

I made this error a few times last season trying to make up points and falling further behind.

completely agree, you make sense. if you're playing for ranking then it's abit risky due to the popularity of Suarez (c) and obviously falling further behind. Maybe fortune favours the brave, or maybe ILB up top is right - climb the rankings slowly, but surely 🙂 But for this GW, i'll just hope Lukaku performs and gives a little bit of a boost.

Hmm I think more than the Koscielny vs Dawson debate, I am far too tempted to have 2FT's over the International break.
I'll give Dawson a real consideration now, though. Cheers

    Clyne, Zab, Dawson, (Kosicelny, Vidic)
    Ravel, Ramsey, Haz, (Brady, Michu)
    Aguero, Giroud, Sturridge

which transfer is best for a -4 hit?

    A. Vidic > Terry - leaving 0 in the bank
    B. Vidic > Williams - leaving 1.6 in the bank
    C. Michu > Coutinho - leaving .8 in bank
    D. Michu > Oscar - leaving .2 in bank

Play Dawson for a cleanup against Newcastle? Or play Ramsay for a sneaky assist/goal against Man U. Already have ozil in mids and have to play him at his price
    Boruc
    Terry shaw Chico Coleman Dawson
    Morrison ozil
    Suarez benteke RVP

Immediately you think play Dawson as benching Ramses I or Ozil is silly.

BUT, is it? Perhaps Ozil who doesn't do so well (FPL wise) away from home could be 1st sub??!

    GW11 XI

    Mignolet
    Coleman - Terry - Clyne
    Barkley - Hazard - Silva - Paulinho
    Benteke - Rooney (v) - Sturridge (c)

    Boruc - Walker - Whittingham - Chester
    Bank = 0.5

    FTs = Michu & Giroud > Hazard & Benteke

I think this week will show us. I don't think he is in a slump at all, he just came up against a very well drilled WHU defence that any striker would find hard to penetrate. He will get more chances with his wingmen back but he is still very capable of scoring without them. Was unlucky a couple of times too.

Totally. EVE and WHU are pretty hard to break down, but hard to say how much of the two blanks is their solid defense and how much is him finding his legs again. With Arsenal looking at a difficult run of fixtures, it's tempting to swap Giroud for him for sure.

Lot of it depends on the C choices every week. They have been carrying my team so far

They certainly haven't been carrying mine. 😉 I have like 19% total points from captains where others on here have boasted up to 45%.

It does matter. Allows more transfer freedom as the season continues.
I got burned last year by bigger budgeted teams as I couldn't get the power 5 and decent strikers, which they all had.

Am unsure about a Michu replacement so I'm wondering if I can make it through the weekend without shipping him so I can have two FTs to sort things during the international break, even at the cost of 0.3m in price drop. Thoughts on how thin this attack is?

You can get through this weekend and maybe keep Michu as well cuz he will be back after the break. But do you really want him? He hasn't scored any attacking points FPL wise over his easy games. And has scored something like 6-8 goals since last January i guess

I don't want him but I have no idea who to get so I don't want to waste a transfer on a one week move. 2 FTs over the break would be great.

Save it then. Your team looks good enough to get you through without getting a Michu replacement

Thanks for replying earlier guys. Didn't realise. Why no to Williams in the future? Toure is going to get dropped soon. Looking to bring in one or two of Terry/Williams/Johnson (as mentioned by Cech Yourself). Have 4.0 in the bank so I have the flexibility to do so if needed.

why would toure get dropped? think his got that spot nailed down.. rodgers said agger and skrtel are in direct competition with each other for the CB role.. RCB and LCB are sakhos and toures cos they have more speed than skrtel and agger for that position. unless they change formation back to 4 at the back i dont see toure getting dropped at all

I'm not sure. That's just what I was reading. I was under the impression he was doing well too. Surely Johnson over Toure if money permits though right? If the case is that Toure does retain his spot, I don't want to spend money to transfer in a better defender if I can have 3 quality ones starting weekly in Toure, Coleman and Clyne. I'm not much for defensive rotation and it's served me well thus far.

As a toure owner i totally understand. a 4-4-2 looks very likely and Agger is slated for a comeback. Will feel like we are livin on borrowed time every week.. course he could go on to start every game this season and hence why i'm tryin to get GJ alongside him(thanks to reid 🙁 ) and not for him

LOL! Your comment on my post above made me a little uneasy benching Walker. Whoever I pick, it'll be wrong. If I bench Walker, he'll get a CS. If I bench Paulinho, he'll register attacking points... ARGHHH
