With our Fantasy plans placed on hold by yet another international break, the community have had plenty time to take stock and assess the lay of the land. This week, some of the most pivotal discussions have revolved around key transfers and captain choices for Gameweek 12 and beyond.

Our Sunday evening regular catches up with the latest from our community leagues and celebrates a post which, thanks to a geographical oversight, gave us one of the all-time Fantasy Football Scout classic comment threads.

The Hottest Topics

The 3rd Turd has been at his abacus again to analyse the price risers and fallers tables. His excellent set of posts shows that Southampton are the most inflationary team, though his detective work has found there’s a surprise side losing value at the other end of the scale.

The temptation to invest heavily in the likes of Luis Suarez and Eden Hazard after their excellent Gameweek 11 scores is huge but FBA, however, urges caution. He looks at the performance of each Gameweek’s top scoring player in their following fixture to ascertain just how many have been able to deliver consistently – his investigation proved to be sobering reading.

Accounting on Chris has also been looking ahead to Gameweek 12 and specifically the best captain options. Those to come under his gaze include Hazard, Stephane Sessegnon, Sergio Aguero and Suarez.

Casting an eye beyond next week, we asked how the community was planning to tackle the eight games within a month over the festive period. Jesus Navas – Our Lord believes that even with the games coming thick and fast, Aguero, Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie will be spared the threat of rotation. Forca, meanwhile, lamented how last year’s hectic Christmas schedule ‘killed his season.’

The community were also offered a chance to take part in the next few Scoutcasts, with Granville and Mark looking for members to submit their questions for discussion. Among those to answer Granville’s call were King Nil Miss who wants to know why midfielders are misfiring so much this season. Chancing Punt wants the Scoutcast pair to ponder whether centre backs will outscore full backs this season.

Investing in the most attacking sides is a no-brainer, according to The Sarjeant, who this week has been looking at the most attacking sides and their key players. Interestingly he has also broken down the spread of goals by position and has found that, while forwards are dominating scoring at United and Liverpool, the goals are being shared among midfielders down at City.

Finally, The Missing Link entered the Fantasy Football Scout community posting hall of infamy this week with what we have affectionately entitled the most spectacular post fail ever. His comparison of Eric Lamela’s Premier League performances alongside some “fellow Ligue 1 imports” hinged on the Tottenham midfielder’s former club Roma being in France – unfortunately for the Missing Link, Rome remains in Italy. If the community round up was minded to hand out prizes, an atlas would surely be winging its way to The Missing Link, who took the ridicule that ensued in good humour to create our most up-voted post yet.

Community Leagues

The FFS UEFA Beach Soccer World Cup group stages have come to an end with Gameweek 12 heralding the start of the knock out stages. Those teams, comprising of FFS community managers battling it out in Gameweek 12’s quarter-finals, are USA, Solomon Islands, Iran, Ivory Coast, El Salvador, Spain, Paraguay and Brazil.

In Thomass and Peppie&Felix competition we approach finals day. Thomass, Beric, Daniel and TW advance to the next round with Thomass beating his tournament co-host Peppie&Felix along the way.

Evs, Chilin Dude, RobinHuth, Crouch Potato, Chazza and Koneheads top In Tommy We Trust’s All Things leagues. Meanwhile the third round draw of his cup competition has thrown up an interesting match, with ITWT’s wife up against our resident physio Facer.

I am noob enough to not understand a single thing in the spreadsheet for the FFS FA cup.

I see my name in there but don't understand who I play 🙄

sorry, it is a bit confusing. there's two spreadsheets a team spreadsheet and a fixtures one.

once you know what team you are from this spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuuifMuJM44AdHR2UUtqZFhqczdjYm11UFhrV2NzZkE&usp=drive_web#gid=11

you should check this fixtures spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuuifMuJM44AdGJoSkN1VDBQbUx5Mml6VFBqNDRCWWc&usp=drive_web#gid=2

If he was 4.0m on FPL I still wouldn't buy him.

I've no intention of getting into a political debate on a fantasy football forum, but there's a lot of b*locks that goes around about "the deficit" so I'm just going to post this article...

          http://m.huffpost.com/uk/entry/2007552?utm_hp_ref=tw

(PS I have no great affection for Ed Milliband, for what it's worth, but to continue the FPL metaphor I'd bring in Shane Fergus for an 18 point hit if it meant getting rid of Cameron)

I see him as a kind of inoffensive budget defender who'll keep you ticking over with 2-3pts a week, whereas the alternatives breed active resentment like a 6M defender who doesn't keep many clean sheets, concedes most weeks and is constantly walking the suspension tightrope.

Forgetting who you own, value, etc, who do *you* think are the top 5 captain picks for next week? I think:

    1. Van Persie
    2. Rooney
    3. Aguero
    4. Suarez
    5. Remy

I will be captaining aguero because I don't own vp or rooney.

      RVP
      Rooney
      Remy
      Suarez
      Brady if fit

Most will have Aguero in that list. But in an ideal world you'd have players with the best matchups and Man City v Spurs isn't a good matchup.

This is the kind of weekend tailor made for RVP captaincy.

And United were in worse shape than Arsenal when Fergie took over, the difference is in the talent of the men not in the teams.

Fergie's sucess was relentless, other managers with alot of time have extended periods without sucess.

Wenger has shown he's content to finish high and not win trophies with Arsenal and a board that have seemingly backed that stance over the years, that's why I'm discounting Arsenal.

Fergie has had some brilliant staff around him that he would be nowhere without and a well run board. Obviously there's no way of proving this, but I'm pretty sure there are many other managers that could have done just as well given the time and club that Fergie had.

That doesn't detract from Fergie being brilliant. It's just that he's not a one off. He's a byproduct of circumstances.

Your discounting Arsenal because they don't fit your thoery. Swap Wenger and Fergie around but keep all other circumstances the same, imo Arsenal would have been more successful and United would have less successful.

Your also discounting that Fergie chose his staff and fostered a good relationship with the board, this is part of his talent.

Also everyones career can be judged as being a byproduct of circumstance if you look at it pessimistically

Fergie is clearly a better manager than Wenger. So obviously I think he would do much better. My point is that there are other brilliant managers out there, but you will never know as they aren't given that time.

Not sure i agree with this. its like saying many players could emulate messi success if they got a good run at barca. yes other managers could and would win some trophies with Man U for 20+ years but fergue is arguably the most successful club manager of all time with a phenominal win and trophy record, and that takes some doing, whether you like him or hate him

I would have a plan to get aguero for giroud over the next few gameweeks. You can fund it using ozil > walcott and downgrading walker. Your Townsend > sess move good for this week as long as it does not ruin your plan to fund aguero. Wilson is your 5th df, just hold until WC unless you have 2ft and nothing else to do

If you have held Ivan this long you may as well keep through Chelsea good fixtures. I would expect him to outscore mcauley so depends what your plans are with the freed up funds. I've had him since the start, he and Chelsea have under delivered but he is still a reasonable shout. Personally I will hold until jan WC

Lose paulinho. I'm not a big cabaye fan and prefer sess but cabaye stats ok, many seem to like him. Newcastle have a couple of good fixtures

    Mignolet Harper
    GJ JT Evans Vlaar Rosenoir
    Hazard Ramsey Sess Brady RMorrison
    Aguero Suarez Remy

    1.1M in the bank.

Triple Hull is a little worrying, but I'm not sure I see any better alternatives in those positions and I can't see them getting too much playing time. Thoughts?

Mert is also a good buy imo - I just prefer Evra over JEvans due to no rotation issues and a far far far superior threat going forwards.

Baker is a risk I guess, just suggested that so you could afford the Evra switch.

As for Hazard, think of him as a Wally placeholder for now. Hazard has great fixtures and is nailed so I think he's a decent option at the moment, not too many other to pick from (Ozil is too much). Silva injured, Wally not 100%...
