As we’re all very much aware, midfielders have been a real let-down this season for Fantasy managers thus far. Aside from Aaron Ramsey’s sensational displays for Arsenal, there have very few options for us to look upon as reliable assets – Adam Lallana’s recent rise to prominence has already persuaded over 78,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers to snap up the Southampton skipper, despite games against Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Spurs in the next six Gameweeks:

With this in mind, in this latest article for members, we‘ve turned to the Custom Stats Tables feature in the members area and assessed the midfielders with the most impressive data over the last four Gameweeks. For the purposes of this table, and in order to include some of the standout players across key categories, we set the bar to ensure each of our 16 candidates registered a minimum of 5 shots, 5 chances created, 2 shots on target and 1 shot inside the box between Gameweeks 8-11.

Off topic but has anyone else noticed their mum go quietly nuts in their 50s? I can't help but ask as it's driving me crazy since I moved back in on a temporary basis after leaving Manchester. Definitely got worse since I was a teenager. I'm just gonna go on a very long rant to get it out of the system as sometimes I feel I'm surrounded by insanity.

It's moderate but constant and inescapable obsession and paranoia. A willingness to totally inconvenience herself and others around her about small theoretical worries. She's become obsessed with cleanliness. Whenever we go out to a garden centre for tea she makes a big show of checking all the plates and cutlery for bad washing up (this making a show of everything is also driving me nuts). The really crazy part is that she's become obsessed with local cats shitting on the lawn. She's convinced cat shit is the deadliest pathogen this side of smallpox so she will go to any measures to stop even one molecule of it persisting in her house. She religiously cleans all shoes that enter the house and where it gets mad for us is that she's forbidden any of us to stand on the lawn because it might contain cat shit. This means we can't put the rubbish out. She has to do it. She never gets round to it so we routinely have overflow bin bags sitting in the kitchen ultimately because she's terrified of cat shit. This waste is completely fine, though.

She also is always telling us to be careful what we say, even in the house, as people may be listening in. She's paranoid people are listening to her landline calls and claims to have heard 'clicks' indicative of phone tapping.

Recently she also completed a degree with the open university. She was taking her final module and she already had enough marks for a 2:1. She couldn't get a first. So it was not going to affect her degree classification at all. She was asked if it's worth taking this module (it was optional) given it didn't matter and she said she wanted to. She got a bad grade. So most of us would shrug and move on. She's appealing it and has asked for a copy of the script to be sent back and having received it is convinced that some of the images she attached went missing and that explains her bad grade. No amount of reasoning can get her to drop the appeal and move on with her life.

I've tried pointing out to her that she's allowing her life to be disproportionately dominated by obsessions but she just gets defensive. That's the scary thing really, she can sit and justify at length all her obsessions until you just give up (apparently she read on the internet that cat shit is really dangerous).

Ultimately I feel first frustrated, then sad that someone can't see what they've become. It's not to say we can't have good times but it's sad to look at your own mum and wonder if she's all there. Is this what happens to mums/parents when they get old? Or did she just drop the ball... there's loads more nuts stuff she does but I'd assume the point has been made.

Holy cow how much have I written.

Just monitor and make sure she knows and has got people that love her around. I live 90 miles away from my Mum so I can't see her as often as I would like, but she's got family around her and it definitely helps. A trip to the doctor may be a course of action, but I guess it depends how bad you think it is, and of course convincing her she may have a problem might not be that easy.

This actually seems a little more than normal especially for someone in their 50s. I would genuinely be worried especially about the paranoia. You can get toxocara from cat poo which isn't pleasant so could well have read about that.

Dude , the cat poo and tapping seems a bit more than mild issues, I think you may need to discuss matters with her and suggest seeing someone re OCD. It could well be a case of just some lifestyle fine tuning so dont worry about a full blown OCD medication program.

Re the exam paper and the images though maybe she's right maybe she isnt , but if you dont let her see the appeal take its course she will never be able to put this episode to bed and the obsession will escalate.

Yeah we just let her go ahead with the appeal, resistance just would fuel it.

Seems fairly plausible it's related to the menopause now I think of it but maybe it is aggravated by OCD, she does also obsessively check the door is locked multiple times.

I'll do my best to support, fingers crossed it's just a phase.

As others have said perhaps a chat with the doctor is a good idea.
I actually suspect she may going though the menopause, 51 is the average age of onset and it can really mess with women s heads (my mum went abit loopy too).
If it is this a doctor could certainly offer some advice and maybe some treatment to make the symptoms a little easier on her.

Yeah you and bubz raise the menopause and I really think it might be a factor now. She even mentions it fairly often, probably should have been more attentive on my part.

Good to know there might be a physical explanation for it.

yes forgot to say, the underlying reason is most likely the menopause. It can manifest itself in so many ways. Once the cycle completes im sure your mum will feel much better.

Thought of menopause after I read it, it can tend to alter hormones/emotions dramatically. If it was a matter of some urgency, I'd consult with others, that know her well, on their opinion. The paranoia sounds a bit serious to me. I'd talk with her and a GP. Prob just the menopause, but better to find out in case it's something else.

Your post references "us" on a couple of occasions. Do you have siblings or dad there to reality test your concerns with?

Also, this is clearly causing you a lot worry and churning up lots of emotions. Perhaps you might benefit from seeing a counselor or therapist who can provide insight as to how best to take care of yourself while this is going on around you.

      Best wishes.

That's tough, Isacki. Hope it'll help you to know that anxiety and paranoia are common features of perimenopause (the period of transition, which lasts a few years), and menopause. Here's a page with a bit more info on that:

      http://www.amberen.com/about-menopause/symptoms-of-menopause/paranoia

(It's a drug company page, but the info is accurate.)

So, basically, the hormonal changes can be pretty extreme, and drive you doolally for a few years. She could talk to a doctor about balancing out the more extreme hormonal swings, or (if she feels she can handle it) she can just ride it out. It should improve when her hormones settle down into a new, post-menopausal pattern in a couple of years.

Meanwhile, give her lots of love and acceptance. She's going to be seeing the world at a bit of an odd angle for a while, but then don't we all sometimes?

I'd rather see tom ince there. He has potential. Yeah he's not in the premier league but his stats are absolutely incredible. At least the guy scores 15 odd goals a season which is what you want from a winger. Its too close to the world cup now obviously but england should build a new team with talented youngsters after the world cup. The old guard have had enough chances.

I think it's rough to say he's rubbish.. he does look dangerous and he is good at dribbling and his shots are threatening at times.. I just think he needs to use his skill set a bit more wisely.

My guess is (I can't see article) that..

    Oscar is tripe
Townsend is tripe (lots of shots)
    Hazard is OK (vs Oscar)
Silva is needed for Aguero to prosper
    Sessegnon looks OK
    Ozil looks good (statistically)
    Ramsey looks good

    Just my guess though haha

Out of the 3 forwards I own, I am definitely edging towards Aguero. Fantastic home form, scored against some big teams. Everton are good defensively, so I am less certain of a big haul from the SAS, and Giroud has hardly proved explosive.

City have had some great showings at home recently yeah, but they are facing Tottenham, who have been absolutely solid at the back. And Aguero has no Silva to feed off. I don't see him as the best captaincy option tbh.

And how many of them hs he scored? I'm surprised how high people value merely shooting on target. If it is to get an easy save for the GK, it is worth little more than hitting it off target. And if you shoot just mildly off target an effort that has a serious chance to go in, that's better imo.
