Festive rotation and Mark and Granville’s rivalry were among the key discussions taking place amongst the community this week. Elsewhere, veteran poster, Christina, upped his game to deliver a pair of popular hot topics; we take a look back on these, whilst rounding off with our usual focus on the tournaments active in the community.

The Hottest Topics

Just how much rotation will there be during the hectic festive fixture list? Greenwindmill has been offering some crumbs of comfort with his detailed analysis of how the team sheets panned out over winter last season. For a number of sides, in particular Everton and Southampton, he found that rotation was less severe than we expected. The Serjeant has also been looking at festive rotation and in particular to investigate which teams have the most cluttered Christmas.

For those looking to scrape the very darkest depths of the Premier League barrel Christina has been on hand to look at the slender pickings among the worst performing clubs. Jonathan Walters and Dimitar Berbatov are among those ultra-differentials being offered up.

Not sure what they’ve been putting in the water at Christina’s place, but the community verteran has been flying this week, notching up a second hot topic nomination, this time looking ahead to the January Wildcard and the best time to throw it down.

The tussle for supremacy among ScoutCast rivals Mark and Granville has captured the imagination of Just A Hat this week, who wonders if Granville will maintain his mini-league lead. Lateriser12 feels that Granville is set thrash Mark this season, while Tinkerman envisages a miraculous comeback for Mark.

Among those to answer our hot topic about whether Christmas is the season for giving our bench fodder an overhaul, or taking a risk that they won’t be needed was Fratboy, who is seizing the moment to ditch Cardiff’s Jordan Mutch.

Captaining a player in an early Saturday kick off is often seen as the nemesis of any superstitious Fantasy Football manager. Luckily Nice To Finally Michu was on hand to run roughshod over this old wives tale. His analysis of captain options in the early games this season so far show that whether a player starts at 12:45pm or 3pm makes no difference to their chances of racking up a respectable points haul. I also dropped my monkey’s foot in surprise.

The Community Leagues

Thomass67 tells us he is launching a doubles ‘Big Bash League’ shortly. For more information and to register ahead of the November 29 deadline click here.

TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing lost another 32 managers this week leaving 586 left. Myo Min Thant leads seeding for the FPL Open and Beric leads for the Elite 64 competition. More details can be found here.

Meanwhile the FFS UEFA FA Cup Tournament is underway this weekend. A review of last week’s stage and the latest on this week’s can be seen here.

Aguero Vs Suarez - Captaincy Conundrum - GW 13

Aguero and Suarez are both undoubtedly in amazing form, and both of these players have favourable fixtures for game week 13. Some people have said it's a bit of a hard choice this game week when deciding on who to captain, so I thought I'd look into who's the best captaincy choice, to help me and you guys.

Below I've analysed Swansea's away performances - Aguero's fixture, and Hull's home performances - Suarez's fixture. I've also pitted Aguero's and Suarez's stats head to head to see which one could be the best captain option.

    Opponents: (These aren't averages.)

    Swansea:
Last Three Fixtures - car / STO / ful
Last Three Away Fixtures - sot / car / ful

    Hull:

Last Three Home Fixtures - 1.66

    Suarez:
    Away - 2
    Last Three Fixtures - 3.66
Last Three Away Fixtures - 2.66

After analysing the opponents and the players it's clear that Hull look the more defensive side at home when comparing them to Swansea's performances away, and Aguero looks more threatening at the Etihad than Suarez does on the road.

My armband will be placed firmly on Aguero for game week 13! I hope it works out for whoever joins me, even though most of you probably already would have.

To be fair, Aguero at home against anyone compares favorably with Suarez on the road against anyone.
I'm with you unless I feel like a punt on Benteke at home against Sunderland. But that seems unlikely.

Great Research and work but Hull haven't really played anyone strong so far at home. Villa is the strongest team and I don't think they had benteke for that game either. Having said that most people will still go with Aguero but I'll stick to Suarez

    I don't do RMTs, but I'm bored.

    Myhill
    GJ, Coleman, Kosc
    Hazard, Oscar, Ramsey, Sess
    Aguero(c), Suarez(vc), Benteke
    (Boruc) (Januzaj, Chester, AWilliams)
    0Ft, 0.6itb

The only move I might consider is dropping Januz for a more-nailed-on option. But for -4 that seems beyond silly.

It is knee-jerky. But probably worth it if you can use the funds wisely.
Ozil seems over-priced, I think that's why so many people on here are hoping Walcott will produce. Coutinho is kind of in thd same boat as Walcott. He scored one goal, but has to show some consustency or explosiveness before everyone jumps in.

Regarding Baines injury I was reading that "The Mirror" reckons he will miss at least a month with a broken toe. However, Martinez is still waiting for a full diagnosis.

I'm selling Baines & getting Skrtel which will give me this defence for gw13

    Mignolet (Hull - a), Skrtel (Hull - a), Terry (Sou - h), Mertesacker (Car - a) (Clyne, Burner)

I have to get Skrtel to afford Lallana to Hazard. Seems to be a lot of debate on the merits of G. Johnson v Skrtel. Based on the fact that central defenders seem to get more baps when they keep a cs I think central defenders are the way to go.

Finally got around to a little self analysis I've been meaning to do.
Put together a s/sheet of the score of each of my players each GW.

Wanted to see who has been returning and who is too expensive for what they're doing for me. Used pts per million.

I've been under playing Ravel & Burner, who both sit well in the table. Meanwhile Baines, JT, Chico, Barkley & Ozil your time may well be up. Although JT may get a reprieve.

No real surprises, but it certainly helps crystalise the mind as to what happens next.

I'm considering Gabbidon as well, Palace's next 3 fixtures look good for a couple of CS... and then he's playable in all his home games up until the Jan WC...

The rest of your defence is fine tbh... but maybe you could lose Clyne, since he doesn't have many playable fixtures between now and the Jan WC... I would recommend someone like M.Turner in that case...

"Leighton Baines, having scored twice in one game for Everton in September, said afterwards he was spurred on by team‑mate Leon Osman, who'd "taken me out of his fantasy football team because I wasn't doing enough". Baines vowed to score a couple, and did"

Just amazing how quickly we knee-jerk around here.

Even on Sat morning, Özil was a potential captaincy choice vs SOT and now we're looking to sell him for another player like Hazaar who plays SOT and has average fixtures to follow.

I wonder if Mesut is someone like Cazorla over last season (owing to the same position he played for Arsenal) who will explode in patches. Watch out lads, a Mesut Özil explosion may be around the corner 😉

I hope u don't mind me saying this but that isn't a particularly good team. Surgery is required so I'd look to get in a cheaper defense to free up more funds for midfield. You should consider more of a 343 formation and upgrade that midfield. The Ramsey wagon might crash soon as well so be prepared to upgrade.

    Advice: thx
would u use FT to rotate D-fence for a better chance of a CS?
or drop 5th mid for Sess.

1--drop lovren > Merts (greater chance going forward of CS + pts)
2--drop 5th mid > Sess (dont think ill play sess this gw over Ravel ag FUL)

**next fix tough for all lovren, clyne, williams thats why i was thinking doing Merts instead of Sess

    R. Morrison, Özil, Oscar, Caybe
    Rooney, Aguero, Suarez

    Juanuzaj, Rangel, Chester

    1 FT 0 in bank.

Any suggestions? Was thinking of saving the transfer this week to downgrade rooney --> lukaku/remi/lambert/tekkers and upgrade a defender to Vertonghen or Baines or maybe upgrading cabaye to hazard/walcott? Or is the a good transfer you see I could make this week?

      Downgrading Rooney is madness.

Baines is crocked. Vertonghen just shipped 6 goals and has Roon and RVP next.

If I had to make the transfer I would probably get Hazard or Walcott in for Ozil.

Yeah Oscar > Sessegnon freed up the cash, plus Sessegnon had been out-performing him in recent weeks in points and in the comparison tool.

I did it earlier in the week and wasn't aware that Reid and Rat were out and after Oscar had been rested the previous two times post International break I thought it made sense at the time 😀

    Hello Dz,

Anyone think to take a punt on Navas. Looked good vs TOT. I also dont own Augero and I cant afford it now.

I can take him for Lalana who has difficult fixtures. Cant decide between Navas and Wally.

    My team for GW 13
    Guzan
    Ivan, Coleman, Zab, Mert
    Ravel, Ramsey, Oscar
    Remy, Rooney, Suarez (c)
    subs: Boruc, Macauley, Lalana, Brady.

Should i do Lalana to Navas or wait.

That's a really solid lineup at the moment. Personally, I'd be more concerned about Coleman in the following games if you keep that lineup. If you were planning to bench Coleman for a 3-4-3 then your move makes sense.
