Jesus Navas and Sergio Aguero run riot at the Etihad as City bounce back from defeat at Sunderland to ensure their 100% home record continues at the hands of Tottenham. Wayne Rooney grabs a goal and assist in Robin Van Persie’s absence, though United are held to a draw at Cardiff, with old boy Fraizer Campbell amongst the goals.

Aguero Delivers Once Again
The Argentine extended his lead at the top of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) standings with yet another stunning display. Aguero welcomed Spurs to the Etihad having averaged over 10 points per home appearance, with five goals, five assists and nine bonus points prior to yesterday’s match – a brace, assist and two bonus helped him to 15 points, his fifth set of double figures in 10 starts. Aguero has now scored or assisted in eight of his 10 appearances in Pellegrini’s XI and is serving up a consistency on a par with Luis Suarez; Fantasy managers holding both face a tough decision in any given Gameweek, as the pair continue to deliver points at a far superior rate to any other Fantasy asset – Suarez and Aguero have averaged 10.4 and nine points per game this term; Wayne Rooney is their nearest rival, on seven ppg by comparison.

Alvaro Negredo also caught the eye with a goal and assist – he has produced returns in each of the last five at home, racking up 38 points, but despite his Etihad consistency and cheaper price (at 9.1 to Aguero’s 12.0) the Spaniard remains firmly in his strike-partner’s shadow. Nonetheless, his security of starts looks assured – after the game, Pellegrini went on record as to say his summer signing was ”perfect” for the Premier League, with yesterday’s result meaning City have now scored 26 goals in just six games in front of their own fans.

Navas Finds his Form
It’s been an underwhelming start to the little winger’s Etihad career but yesterday’s display suggested he may finally be settling. Handed his first start since Gameweek 5, Navas more than atoned for the absence of David Silva by bagging a brace in the mauling of Tottenham, scoring in 13 seconds before firing home a late sixth – with an assist and maximum bonus also delivered, he ended the afternoon with a 19 point haul. Still sidelined by a calf complaint, Silva is surely nailed-on under Pellegrini and with Navas excelling on the right, Samir Nasri owners will be a little concerned for his game time upon Silva’s imminent return.

Tottenham Capitulate
Spurs rolled up to the Etihad boasting the league’s most impressive defensive record, with just a single goal conceded in five road trips and six goals against in the first 11 Gameweeks. They exited Manchester with their tails between their legs after Andre Villas-Boas’ decision to make six alterations to his starting XI backfired. The early-season resilience which helped grind out results has vanished – Spurs have failed to score in each of the last three, with a 1-0 win over Hull in Gameweek 9 the last time they found the net; even then, the win came courtesy of a converted spot-kick. With a raft of summer signings on board, Villas-Boas’ side still seem nowhere near settled, as a lack of consistency of selection continues to stunt their progress – United and Liverpool await them in the next four, suggesting the north London club face a tricky time of it.

Rooney Key to United
With Robin Van Persie sidelined though injury, the England start continued to demonstrate his importance to the United cause. A goal and assist in the 2-2 draw at Cardiff, supplemented by maximum bonus, took Rooney into third spot in the FPL forward standings on 77 points – yesterday’s haul was his third set of double figures of the season but crucially, all three have arrived in the last four Gameweeks; a clear indication of his flourishing form under David Moyes. Indeed, Rooney’s overall consistency has been hugely impressive since the champions’ new manager arrived, with a goal or assist in nine of his 11 appearances so far and since Gameweek 4, he has played a part in 11 of his side’s 16 goals.

Despite having the last fortnight to recover from the persistent toe and groin problems that forced him out of the recent Holland squad, it appears Van Persie had only managed light training; his manager’s failure to reveal this on Friday’s press conference cost the Dutchman’s 23% of FPL owners dearly. Prior to yesterday’s match, Moyes admitted he may will “probably need to look after” Rooney’s game time “somewhere in the next two months” but with the festive fixture list packing up pace as the games arrive at speed, it appears more than likely that Van Persie will be the one whose minutes may need managed. After the game, Moyes conceded the former Arsenal man was ruled out with a groin problem and aims to get him back “as soon as we can”.

Evra’s Attacking Potential
A goal against the Bluebirds continued the Frenchman’s impressive run of attacking form. Evra has also provided a couple of assists over the last five Gameweeks for Moyes’ side and in a season where the Red Devils have toiled for clean sheets, with only three so far, their left-back’s offensive potential has seen him deliver 51 FPL points – 27 points more than any of his defensive team-mates and 12 clear of David De Gea in goal. Granted, at 6.3, he’s the priciest option amongst Moyes’ backline but Evra is justifying the extra outlay – with three home games in four after next week’s trip to Spurs, he could come in for further investment, with his consistency of selection also looking key over the packed Christmas period.

Campbell’s Big Game Appetite
Clearly, there’s something about playing the Manchester clubs that brings out the best in Fraizer Campbell. Prior to yesterday, he’d drawn blanks in all but one of his 12 appearances this season – his only success arrived back in Gameweek 2, when Cardiff got the better of City 3-2. With Andreas Cornelius cementing his comeback from an ankle injury with a sub appearance off the bench, though, it remains to be seen whether Campbell will retain his starting berth – he had been named in the XI just once in the four games before yesterday’s draw. With Stoke, Palace and West Brom in the next four, confidence will be high after yesterday’s result – Peter Whittingham is the only attack-minded player to have started every league game for the Welsh club and chipped in with an assist and couple of bonus points yesterday; at 5.1 he’s certainly budget-friendly and remains a reliable starter under Malky Mackay.

How about downgrade Townsend to Morrison, upgrade HBA to Hazard ?

Maybe take a hit to go from Shaw to Mertesacker if you can afford it.

Suarez & Kun is a given.

Rooney is the one I can't get my head around(I own Lukaku)

Walcott/Hazards clouding the water even further. I can get All 5, but would mean a uber cheap defence.

Ok I see why now. We have very similar teams. You have Ramsey, I have Barkley, one of the only differences.

I sold Shaw this week for Mertesacker.

We can´t rule out the appeal of captaining Rooney, but those 2 seem to be assured of starts (referring Moyes words on resting Rooney http://www.football365.com/news/21554/9039660/Rooney-Defends-Fitness )

That said, in a period of 3 GW´s per week, the certainty of starts from Suarez and Agüero wins over any other candidate.

Even thought I don't own him I'm hoping RVP comes good, or Ozil and the mids just so this game becomes a little less template.

Suarez's fixtures do look a bit more tempting in the next few weeks up until their showdown

I think i will be doing this until further notice at least. Quite a test coming up as on paper you would of thought Suarez away to Hull could maybe match Aguero at home to Swans so ill guess we shall see.

in general maybe/probably. though I think there's some weeks where aguero is home (and maybe has a tougher fixture) but suarez has an easier fixture where it could be a tough decision

also I think that walcott could be an armband candidate if arsenal have particularly plum fixtures in a few weeks once he's up and running again. I mean his monster haul vs newcastle last year shows that he can even outscore suarez or aguero

I think if both are at home chances are they will more or less match each other. You may lose a few points, but both are likely to get double digit hauls. So that could be around 30 -40 pts from just two players if you captain one...

Not as simple as that ..... my captaincy choices are the only thing keeping the show on the road.

      GW 12 Aguero - 30 points
      GW 11 Suarez - 32 points
      GW 10 Aguero - 36 points
GW 09 Giroud - 12 points. Missed 34 points from Suarez ....oh maybe it is that simple 🙂
GW 08 Suarez - 20 points Missed 30 points from Ozil
GW 07 Suarez - 12 points ... was my highest scorer
GW 06 Rooney - 16 points ...missed 26 from Suarez
      GW 05 Ozil - 28 points.

Ok ... so maybe from 2 weeks of Ozil, it has been Suarez and Aguero

Current form suggests that is the way forward, which is almost a shame. Until City get some semblance of away form, I still am hesitant to captain Aguero regardless of fixtures (the game against Sunderland demonstrates the current situation well). Until rotation hits city, having both and rotating the armband will probably work.

The thing that worries me is both city's away form and United lack of options.

Rooney is pretty much the only united cover and has been doing a great job of brining returns.

Suarez is pretty much the best player to have since he can score in any game home or away and there is no real midfield cover that brings even close to his hauls.

Aguero will probably destroy the swans but then has 2 away games as well as a host of other players around him who can chip in.

If I bring kun in for lukaku it will cost 8 points

If I bring him in for Rooney it will cost 4 points and I will def need to get him back at some point and I loose his price rise

Can I get 2 city mids to cover up kun?

Can I ride it out and build up enough money in the bank to do lukaku to kun in 4 weeks?

      Should I get negredo?

Who wants to be a millionaire?

As most of you I kicked of a league in GW8 for all of us outside the top 1m ranked players. Back then things were bleak and all who entered the league got comfort in knowing that they werent the only ones who were down on their luck.

I know that GW12 isnt even over yet but I thought id givea wee update. Retaining top spot is Amy Dexter with her team 'Trophy wife'. She amassed a massive 90 points this week and has jumped from 1,300,00 to 100,000 in just 4 game weeks!!!

46 of the 66 team which entered are now in the top 1,000,000 ranked player. So whenever you feel down your FPL luck dont fret, just be patient theres still a long way to go.

I feel I need to get Suarez in for Sturridge ?? Sturridge has of course been scoring but only ever 1 goal, 1 assist max, which is good, but compared to Suarez - Suarez always looks like he can explode and score a handful as he's been showing.

Does that value a transfer? If I was to bring Suarez in for Sturridge I'd need to take a 4point hit, and would prob transfer out Fonte or Townsend for a budget Def/Mid.

Cheers TW, I know I have to, it's shite...

I forgot to say option D is for a -4 point hit.

My idea is to wait for Champions games and try to see if Wally's game time is more conclusive. But I know the best would be to wait another 2 weeks maybe.

I wouldn't do D for a hit. just wait a week to do the defender transfer

agreed, that's probably what i'll do. maybe this week is the right time to get him but it might be better to wait a week. waiting 2 might be too long, who know's it's really hard to tell. for all we know theo could start this weekend and bag a brace.... or he could be limited to a 20 min cameo and blank, it's really hard to tell 🙁

It is, you’re right. I will wait until the end of the week, maybe then we’ll know a bit more.
Oscar would be a good option but I don’t believe he could get the same amount of points of Wally, long term speaking, and it is at the same price for now.

Looking at Arsenal's playing positions this week in the members area it's hard to believe why anyone would be getting rid of him at the moment.

Really good week for some of the more popular strikers.

    Aguero 15
    Giroud 13
    Lukaku 13
    Rooney 11
    Negredo 10
    Suarez 9
    Remy 9
    Sturridge 6

    WIth Benteke still to come.

I am in same position, am dead level on points against pp cup opponent (76 points) - As long as Sessegnon doesn't get sent off, i will be through after the auto subs. Even if he gets crocked in the first minute, am through. Even if he misses the team bus, am through with Whittingham to come on as auto sub.....

yeah..Tidy side but their high flying rank has as much to do with easy(ish) fixtures...The season ticker at GW1 showed them to have the easiest fixtures for the first ten games defensively, and so it proved....and now it shows them with the hardest for the next ten...
