There’s a trio of new arrivals on this week’s Tightrope, the most high profile being a certain United frontman. Wayne Rooney’s caution during Sunday’s draw at Cardiff, picked up for a seventh-minute “challenge” on Jordan Mutch, means he has now accumulated four yellows – if he receives another in any of his side’s next eight league matches between now and January 1, Rooney will serve an automatic one-match ban.

Earlier today, it was confirmed Rooney will not face any retrospective action after kicking out at the Cardiff player, as the incident was dealt with by the referee at the time. Similarly, Everton’s Kevin Mirallas looks set to escape further punishment for his challenge on Luis Suarez in the Merseyside derby – the Belgian, who was also booked for the indiscretion, has since admitted he was lucky not to be dismissed.

According to reports earlier this afternoon, Cardiff’s Gary Medel has escaped punishment for apparently raising his hands in the direction of United’s Marouane Fellaini in yesterday’s 2-2 draw.

Rooney was also joined on the Tightrope by Everton’s Ross Barkley and Southampton’s combative central midfielder Victor Wanyama, who were booked against Liverpool and Arsenal respectively. We now have 26 players sitting on four yellow cards, with only three clubs – Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Cardiff – not represented.

Liverpool do, however, sport the player with the most bookings to his name – Lucas has incurred the referee’s wrath no fewer than six times in the first 12 Gameweeks. Sunderland defender Wes Brown and Palace wide man Yannick Bolasie were both dismissed for dangerous play at the weekend and are currently poised to serve three-match bans.

The FA confirmed earlier today, however, that both clubs have contested the decisions – the Black Cats are particularly confident of winning the appeal in light of Brown’s challenge on Stoke’s Charlie Adam in a 2-0 loss at the Britannia. Fulham’s Sascha Riether will complete the last of a three-game suspension against West Ham; he will return for the Gameweek 14 home clash against London rivals Tottenham.

Gus Poyet welcomes Lee Cattermole and Andrea Dossena back into the Black Cats’ fold for the trip to Villa after the duo’s respective three-match suspensions came to an end last Saturday. Elsewhere, Mathieu Debuchy returns for Newcastle’s home game with West Brom, having served a one-match ban at home to Norwich for accumulating five yellow cards, whilst Mathieu Flamini is back for Arsenal’s trip to Cardiff, giving Arsene Wenger a double-pivot dilemma away to the Bluebirds.

So. Where was I.. ah. Yes.

I haven't watched any WBA recently, although I remember an article here reporting that Amalfitano was being played reverse OOP.

Anyone know what is going on?When I have seen him play I've liked him a lot and want to keep hold. Fellow owners, are you keeping or..?

he was unfortunate to not get an assist today with sesesgnon not finishing his chances, I have 3M in bank and 2 FT, I can upgrade him to Navas but I will look at other options as well he played okay today I suppose

Or they realised that the problems were growing for Spurs and a game away to City is perfect for brutally exposing them? Not that anyone expected 6 but a comfortable City win was no surprise.

If Walcott looks like he'll start:

    Coleman + Ozil + Benteke -> Gabbidon + Walcott* + Aguero (-4)

If Walcott doesn't look like he'll start:

Ozil + Benteke -> Ravel + Aguero (free)

with maybe a hit next week for Coleman + Brady out to Gabbidon + Walcott.

Good plan? Yes I know Coleman is at home to Stoke but I need to fund it somehow.

rooney to remy/lukaku, tekkers to aguero?

it does currently seem to make sense to downgrade ozil but he wasn't priced at 10.5 for no reason, he averaged an assist per game and has nice + home fixtures coming up

i ended up binning rooney for aguero because i know ozil will be in the top point scoring midfielders come the end of the season, and with a player like him form is almost irrelevant he is always capable of magic

          just my two cents

Just seems silly to get rid of Rooney with such amazing form. Ozil's form though makes it easier to get rid, especially knowing that long-term I would prefer Theo anyway.

my rationale was that aguero and suarez are essential

              rooney is not

aguero and suarez are capable of lots of 10+ points hauls, rooney i think would be lucky to get more than one goal in a game

              rooney is on 4 yellows

although, i was very tempted to do ozil to wally as it does free up a significant amount of money

BUT ... you may kick yourself for binning him

your call i made my decision let's see who is right in 5 games time

Sess is like that, though. You have to put up with it but, strangely, he does seem to accumulate points. I think the trick with owning Sess is not to watch him play, or you'll always want to sell him.

I spoke to Mark earlier, he hadn't seen the game tonight. I told him to watch the Sess miss, you'll be wanting to sell him after that.

He wasn't unlucky not to score, his technique is diabolical. Aguero had the same kind of chances at the weekend and put them both away.

Aguero's a striker though, to state the obvious. You would expect him to put away the sort of chances Sess got tonight.

Sess is better off running forward with the ball from midfield. I'm sure a lot of his goals come from outside the box.

I'd expect any striker to put that away. Hell, I'd expect a defender to score that too. He's unconventional sure, and likes to run at players but he must be terribly frustrating for supporters. Similar to the way Nani makes me feel.

    Guys one tip.

Don't watch Sessegnon as he's never a good option, stay on Benteke, he is very poor atm but when he clicks could be a top differential. Which has me thinking, wowsers, getting people back from injury is often very poor decision which makes me think, to Wally or not to, guess the best thing to do to be a long term winner is say, Theo, prove it to me, then I bring you in straight away if you do.
