There’s a trio of new arrivals on this week’s Tightrope, the most high profile being a certain United frontman. Wayne Rooney’s caution during Sunday’s draw at Cardiff, picked up for a seventh-minute “challenge” on Jordan Mutch, means he has now accumulated four yellows – if he receives another in any of his side’s next eight league matches between now and January 1, Rooney will serve an automatic one-match ban.

Earlier today, it was confirmed Rooney will not face any retrospective action after kicking out at the Cardiff player, as the incident was dealt with by the referee at the time. Similarly, Everton’s Kevin Mirallas looks set to escape further punishment for his challenge on Luis Suarez in the Merseyside derby – the Belgian, who was also booked for the indiscretion, has since admitted he was lucky not to be dismissed.

According to reports earlier this afternoon, Cardiff’s Gary Medel has escaped punishment for apparently raising his hands in the direction of United’s Marouane Fellaini in yesterday’s 2-2 draw.

Rooney was also joined on the Tightrope by Everton’s Ross Barkley and Southampton’s combative central midfielder Victor Wanyama, who were booked against Liverpool and Arsenal respectively. We now have 26 players sitting on four yellow cards, with only three clubs – Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Cardiff – not represented.

Liverpool do, however, sport the player with the most bookings to his name – Lucas has incurred the referee’s wrath no fewer than six times in the first 12 Gameweeks. Sunderland defender Wes Brown and Palace wide man Yannick Bolasie were both dismissed for dangerous play at the weekend and are currently poised to serve three-match bans.

The FA confirmed earlier today, however, that both clubs have contested the decisions – the Black Cats are particularly confident of winning the appeal in light of Brown’s challenge on Stoke’s Charlie Adam in a 2-0 loss at the Britannia. Fulham’s Sascha Riether will complete the last of a three-game suspension against West Ham; he will return for the Gameweek 14 home clash against London rivals Tottenham.

Gus Poyet welcomes Lee Cattermole and Andrea Dossena back into the Black Cats’ fold for the trip to Villa after the duo’s respective three-match suspensions came to an end last Saturday. Elsewhere, Mathieu Debuchy returns for Newcastle’s home game with West Brom, having served a one-match ban at home to Norwich for accumulating five yellow cards, whilst Mathieu Flamini is back for Arsenal’s trip to Cardiff, giving Arsene Wenger a double-pivot dilemma away to the Bluebirds.

I personally really don't see that. Barry was a lot younger and doesn't suit the system Everton play as a full back. He is crucial for them in his current role.

Yeah, fair point. He's certainly not go the legs to charge up and down the wings anymore. Nobody really stands out so I think I'll just avoid Everton defence for a while...

Upgrade Lukaku and downgrade one of Nasri (which I'll probably do anyway) or Sess. But I don't want to get rid of Lukaku with STK. I'll end up getting Rooney back, just not next GW.

      Looks excellent for this week.
The defence might have some holes in the next few weeks.
The midfield might seem thin if Cabaye and Sess don't provide regular returns.
Tbe strikeforce is awesome, but you don't need anyone to tell you that.

If I were you, I'd be tempted to save it.

But, I still feel you could do with a better mid. Have had the same strike force for 4 weeks now and never felt the need to get Ozil. I'd downgrade Ozil to Hazard.

You could upgrade either one of Kim Janujaz or Barkley to Lamps.

I know it'd be 3 transfers and probably a hit, but if we keep playing 4-3-3 , I see Frank getting those points in.

Or you could do Ozil > Walcott and and save or get Lamps in for Barkley depending on how brave you feel

Don't do Rooney > Lukaku yet.

Rooney's fixtures are far far better. He is in a good vein of form. Get him out if you want after the 5th yellow.

Why get rid of a man who is an in form striker of a team that's gonna push for the title.

          Eventually 😉

Ooh I like it. But worried about Oscar and Lampard but Oscar could easily become Walcott, Michu or Coutinho. I guess it is not any different than people with Ramsey and Ozil. And banks 0.5m.

          How nailed on is Lampard?

In your case, either E or F.

Was hoping Weimann and Gabby would have started last night (so had the C on Benteke) but they didn't. Villa was a transformed team when they came on though, so keeping Benteke for Sunderland.

If you're willing to take a hit, go for F. Def gotta get rid of Tottenham attack.

Personally dont like to take but I might in this case.If I choose F,I'll have to bench Sessegnon then and go in a with triple west ham coverage with nolan ravel and collins.A bit too risky dont you think?

Why bench Sess? Just play him and bench Nolan. Ravel seems more likely to do anything, and that spreads your risk a little bit.

Newcastle aren't water tight at the back. And WBA looked good going forward. Sess didn't have a great game but should have scored 2 sitters.

    Mig, 4.0
    Ivanovic Coleman Clyne Burner Chester
    Hazard Ozil Ramsey Sess JWP
    Suarez(c) Lukaku Benteke

    2.9m banked.

Very open to suggestions. 56 this week with a (c) fail in Benteke :S but am aiming for a consistent 55 points weekly so am on track!

First half was tough. Kozak offered nothing as a striker partner.

Second half he was better when Weimann Gabby and Delph came on. But he was manmarked by 2-3 defenders everytime he had the ball.

But with his strike partners back, it's quite promising for next game hence reluctant to ditch.

    2 FTs this week 🙂
I need to free up 0.8 so I can upgrade Sturridge to Aguero, who should I get rid of (and who should I transfer in)?

    A. Fonte 5.0 - I already have Boruc, being doubled up on Southampton D isn't as rewarding as it was a month ago.
    B. Chico 5.0 - I hate the bloke but his fixtures do look decent after City away, not sure I can trust Swansea while they're in the EL though.
    C. Nasri 8.0 - Annoying to own, probably unlucky not to get at least an assist vs Spurs, I might keep him one more week.
    D. Amalfitano 5.2 - Anyone I replace him with would just be a benchwarmer
    E. Giroud 8.8 - could replace him with Lukaku but that does't seem like a wise move when you compare their fixtures.

Could be a good time to get Snodgrass in (depending on fitness) for Nasri. Fixtures are turning. Would give you the funds you need.

Giroud to lukaku. Giroud broke his drought but those goals were lucky as anything. only reason he toook a pen was cos ozil and arteta were on the bench.. lukaku has great fixtures after the 2 tough ones. altho he is the type of player that can score anywehere

Anyone getting rid of Rooney for Lukaku, why aren't you considering Negredo/ Sturridge?

Unless you want an exact balance for Walcott? Or maybe you got Suarez/ Aguero ( although doubling up with them isn't a bad idea)

Negredo and Sturridge are good third strikers to have.
