There’s a trio of new arrivals on this week’s Tightrope, the most high profile being a certain United frontman. Wayne Rooney’s caution during Sunday’s draw at Cardiff, picked up for a seventh-minute “challenge” on Jordan Mutch, means he has now accumulated four yellows – if he receives another in any of his side’s next eight league matches between now and January 1, Rooney will serve an automatic one-match ban.

Earlier today, it was confirmed Rooney will not face any retrospective action after kicking out at the Cardiff player, as the incident was dealt with by the referee at the time. Similarly, Everton’s Kevin Mirallas looks set to escape further punishment for his challenge on Luis Suarez in the Merseyside derby – the Belgian, who was also booked for the indiscretion, has since admitted he was lucky not to be dismissed.

According to reports earlier this afternoon, Cardiff’s Gary Medel has escaped punishment for apparently raising his hands in the direction of United’s Marouane Fellaini in yesterday’s 2-2 draw.

Rooney was also joined on the Tightrope by Everton’s Ross Barkley and Southampton’s combative central midfielder Victor Wanyama, who were booked against Liverpool and Arsenal respectively. We now have 26 players sitting on four yellow cards, with only three clubs – Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Cardiff – not represented.

Liverpool do, however, sport the player with the most bookings to his name – Lucas has incurred the referee’s wrath no fewer than six times in the first 12 Gameweeks. Sunderland defender Wes Brown and Palace wide man Yannick Bolasie were both dismissed for dangerous play at the weekend and are currently poised to serve three-match bans.

The FA confirmed earlier today, however, that both clubs have contested the decisions – the Black Cats are particularly confident of winning the appeal in light of Brown’s challenge on Stoke’s Charlie Adam in a 2-0 loss at the Britannia. Fulham’s Sascha Riether will complete the last of a three-game suspension against West Ham; he will return for the Gameweek 14 home clash against London rivals Tottenham.

Gus Poyet welcomes Lee Cattermole and Andrea Dossena back into the Black Cats’ fold for the trip to Villa after the duo’s respective three-match suspensions came to an end last Saturday. Elsewhere, Mathieu Debuchy returns for Newcastle’s home game with West Brom, having served a one-match ban at home to Norwich for accumulating five yellow cards, whilst Mathieu Flamini is back for Arsenal’s trip to Cardiff, giving Arsene Wenger a double-pivot dilemma away to the Bluebirds.

What's the deal with Januzaj? You think he's gonna get starts after the last game? Was thinking Januzaj -> Cabaye.

I think Welbeck will nick a few starts on the left now that he's back. Risky gametime-wise, especially over the busy period.

He's also coming back from injury and going into a team that has adjusted to play with Ozil so it will take a while for him to bed in. But even in your comment, you recognise the points potential that's there.

Some days you go bear hunting and you get eaten. Some days you come home with a nice rug to roll around on, and bear steaks. What they don't tell you as a kid is that sometimes you get the rug and steaks, but you also get some nice scars to go with them. As a child you don't understand that you can win, but that's it's not always worth the price. Once you understand and accept that possibility you become a real grown up, and the world becomes a much more serious place. Not less fun, but once you realize what can go wrong, it's a lot scarier to go hunting "bears".

Who is better pick long term Oscar or hazard?

Have Oscar since gameweek 3, got hazard last week for 9.3 as his price was rising plus I dint want to join seessegnon bandwagon, really glad he dint score any last night.

    My plan this week
    Hazard /Oscar out for gerrard

Plz suggest I don't want to regret afterwards on hazard /Oscar.

Alright, my def is really weak this GW. Here's what I'm thinking:

          Option 1:
          Özil -> Hazard
          Fonte/Chico -> GJ (-4 pt)

This could backfire, Chelsea may not score much against Southampton def.

          Option 2:
          Rosenior -> Gabbidon

Get Hazard after Arsenal's Hull game.

          What do you guys think?

According to this report Wenger may try to get Loic Remy in January but he'd still have to see out his loan at Newcastle:

        http://www.sportsdirectnews.com/football-transfer-window/36382-arsenal-wenger-to-strike-early-remy-deal.php#.UpRqKsRSiYS

Don't really understand that, surely if they bought him in January they'd have him immediately and he would not have to see out his loan deal?

Surely he is far too good for QPR and he has a relegation release clause in his contract, figure quoted between £8 and £12 million which is a bargain in this day and age for a striker of his quality. Surprised someone like Spurs and Arsenal never made a move for him in the summer, he is top class.

If he does come back himself and Austin could be some partnership next season. Check out his goal at weekend:

        Morning all.

Injury after injury is destroying me, I can't remember the last time I was able to make a transfer that I actually wanted to make.

        Vorm/Boruc

        GJ, Terry, Baines, Clyne, Chester

        Sess, Brady, Oscar, Ramsey, Townsend

        Suarez, Rooney, Benteke

I really wanted to get rid of Townsend this week, but now it has to be Baines. I plan to get rid of Townsend for Silva/big hitter when he returns so I can afford to downgrade Baines to £4.3 max

I'm thinking Burner or a Palace centre back. but its hard to know who will be nailed on really. Any other suggestions? taaa

You could downgrade Baines to help you afford Aguero, not having him next weekend could damage your team. You have a lot invested in defence so no harm using money elsewhere and with Baines out you have goo excuse to do so.

hmm.. yea I could take a -4 to get in Aguero for Benteke maybe. But after this week City have 2 away fixtures..

Thinking Aguero may be a must have to be honest..

Selling Benteke before he plays Sunderland at home could be a terrible mistake although he hasn't scored in 5 or 6 games. I don't envy your position, I will be similar boat next gameweek trying to accommodate Suarez for Norwich.

        not sure if i should stick with a 4-3-3 or a 3-4-3 or, hey, even a 5-2-3

if I we're to go with 4 mids I'd add Kasami (Yanga-Mbiwa benched), and if i went with two I'd roll with Cabaye and Oscar

does this seem sound? I'm trying to save my FT for De Guzman> Silva (once he's healthy), while also downgrading a defender or other mid accordingly (depends on next week)

He didnt look dangerous at all last night
          I own him and I'm considering a -4 for Aguero (C)

        Hi guys,

Tinkering with my gf's team, any ideas? She doesn't like biter so Daniel is the only option there.

        Boruc* / 4.0
        Baines* / Clyne* / Rosenior* / Burner / Terry
        Ramsey / Nasri / Hazard / Sess / Ravel M
        Aguero / Rooney / Sturridge

yeah baines to any defender of your choice
maybe one that allows you to go Sturridge> Suarez in the future (such as Flanagan or Evans to name a few)
or if you're feeling risk averse since Man U hasn't been a defensive stalwart and Flanagan is not a guaranteed starter (although most on this site seem to favor him to get the nod due to Rodgers comments/general play) getting Mert/Kos or GJ would seem best

that being said, i think having Suarez these coming weeks will be crucial and taking a -4 hit for him wouldn't be out of the question should this be my team. Hull Away isn't a walk in the park though so waiting one week wouldn't be killer, but Suarez should surely be the captain of choice come GW 14 with Liverpool playing Norwich at home

        Mignolet-Given

        Baines-McAuley-Chico-Gabbidon-Fonte

        Ramsey-Brady-JWP-Ozil-Lallana

        Lukaku-Aguero-Suarez

I have no problem with my forward line, the problems lie in defence and midfield

Considering i have 1FT and 0.2 in the bank I am unsure about what to change and what to keep the same.
Think it would be best if I look at getting rid of Chico or Gabbidon first.

        Thanks in advance

Why get rid of Gabbidon?? Baines -> Mert/Konscienly. You need some Hazard/Oscar there plus I would get rid of Lallana.

yeah ridding yourself of Baines for mert/kos/GJ would be your best move, that being said, your defense is going to have a rough time next week with Chico with Man City Away and Fonte with Chelsea Away. Who were you thinking of fielding?

I'd lean towards Gabbidon/ Mcauley/ Whoever you pick up in place of Baines

Chico has a nice run of fixtures with CS potenial beyond City A so I wouldn't drop him, as does Gabbidon
