Having analysed those teams with Strong fixtures over the upcoming four-to-six Gameweeks, our second instalment looks at those with a hard time on the horizon. Two of the bottom three are facing further troublesome times, whilst the schedule continues to test Southampton’s resolve:

Southampton

southampton13

Defeat at the Emirates, partly due to Artur Boruc’s madcap antics, marked the start of Southampton’s protracted run of difficult fixtures. With a trip to Chelsea up next and the visits of Man City and Tottenham in alternate weeks thereafter, Fantasy managers are left with a decision to make over what to do with the Saints assets that have served them so well.

Rotating our Fantasy options looks a possible strategy for the defence (West Brom and Palace offer alternatives across the price ranges), but attacking players such as Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert may struggle to repeat their recent form. James Ward-Prowse’s value has made him popular in some quarters, but with the threat of rotation from the return of Pablo Osvaldo, these fixtures may be the final nail in the coffin for his budget appeal.

Fulham

fulham13

Rene Meulensteen’s installation as head coach alongside beleaguered manager Martin Jol didn’t have the anticipated impact as the Cottagers slumped to a fifth straight defeat against Swansea. For Fantasy managers, this is academic. Thanks to their appalling form, coupled with the upcoming fixtures, very few will have been scooping up Fulham players. Indeed, the London outfit face an uphill battle to get their season back on track, with Tottenham, Everton and Man City in the next six, though games against West Ham, Aston Villa and Norwich should provide some relief.

Such a schedule clearly doesn’t appeal and perhaps the most attention they can hope to inspire may be a detached interest in whether or not Meulensteen can rouse sleeping giant Dimitar Berbatov from his slumber. Managers may also want to monitor the performances of Sascha Riether, once he serves the last of a three-match ban this weekend – from around Gameweek 18 the fixtures turn rather better for the Cottagers.

Sunderland

sunderland13

Unlucky to have Wes Brown sent off in their showdown with Stoke, Gus Poyet’s Sunderland will take some satisfaction from having that red card overturned. As much as the Uruguayan’s regime has shown signs of progress, their short term fixtures dent any appeal. With Chelsea and Tottenham the next two visitors and a trip to Everton also in the next six, the fixture list looks bleak. Any would-be suitors would be well advised to wait until Gameweek17 before investing – a home game against Norwich is the first of an excellent run of fixtures.

Players to watch out for during that period may be the aforementioned Wes Brown, Phil Bardsley or even Vito Mannone, who appears to have made the goalkeeper position his own. Further up the field, Emanuele Giaccherini will be hoping to return to his promising early-season form, while Steven Fletcher can never be written off as a Fantasy force, with Jozy Altidore warming the bench in a recent move to 4-1-4-1.

BE WARY OF

Hull City
Despite an unexpected loss to Palace, Steve Bruce’s side have given a good account of themselves so far, showing plenty of the grit that newly promoted sides need to survive in the Premier League. However, the Tigers have a mixed set of fixtures on the horizon to test their mettle. With Liverpool and Arsenal up next and United also in the next six, only a home game against Stoke looks appealing. Owners of Curtis Davies and Maynor Figueroa may decide that now is the time to part company, perhaps with a view to welcoming them back with their January wildcard, when Hull are gifted some appealing home fixtures. Robbie Brady’s frustratingly protracted recovery from a hernia operation may combine with these tough matches to persuade his owners to jump ship.

Man City
A merciless thrashing of Tottenham continued the baffling pattern displayed by Manuel Pellegrini’s men all season – virtuoso displays at home while toiling on the road. With this in mind, the Blues’ upcoming schedule could bring out more of their Mr Hyde than Dr Jekyll – this weekend’s visit of Swansea looks like another routine win, but that is followed by three away games and Etihad clashes with Arsenal and Liverpool. No-one would bet against Sergio Aguero in his current form, but such fixtures may curtail further investment in the likes of Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri. David Silva has been ruled out of the Swansea fixture, but may return for the two away games. Meanwhile, leaking two goals to relative minnows Viktoria Plzen showed up City’s questionable defence to deter Fantasy managers from looking at Pablo Zabaleta or even Vincent Kompany, whose return from a groin injury is believed to be imminent.

Everton
With the most entertaining Merseyside derby in recent history behind them, Roberto Martinez’ men face a difficult short term schedule. A home game against Stoke ought to be routine enough, but that is followed by back-to-back trips to Manchester United and Arsenal. Once those fixtures are dispensed with, the Toffees will revel in the early Christmas present of a very favourable stretch of fixtures, beginning with a home game against a struggling Fulham. Anyone regretting their decision to drop Romelu Lukaku following his return to goal-scoring ways may want to wait until those two clashes are over before rectifying their error. Similarly, Kevin Mirallas’ slow rise to form could be temporarily halted, while Leighton Baines’ injury creates an opportunity for the likes of Phil Jagielka or Seamus Coleman from Gameweek 16 onwards.

I put up a post on here before, comparing all their stats, Aguero at home and Suarez away, and Aguero beat Suarez at most things. I also compared Swansea defence away and Hull's at home, and Swansea look the weaker side.

Oscar / Ramsey / Sess / Brady (Janz)
    Aguero / Suarez / Lukaku

    1FT £4.4m in bank

Any suggestions? Was thinking of Brady --> big-hitting midfielder (up to £9.6m), maybe Hazard/Gerrard/Coutinho/Toure? Or shall I save to see whether Wally comes good?

It's curious that there appear to be no Spurs players at all in the watchlist, in any category. Not even defence, where they've done pretty well on the clean sheet front this season.

Unsure on captaining Aguero for the following reason......

Pelli ended the Champs league game with Negredo and Dzeko as he intends starting the paid at the weekend and bringing on Aguero if required as this is the easier game of the two. The on Wednesday next week he starts with Aguero.

I'm an Ageuro owner so no agenda. I can really imagine this happening.

      Q - Is Aguero fit?

      A - yes

      Thus Aguero starts

As Sarj says below, he was always intending to sub Kun at HT. If Pelle intended starting Dzeko and Negredo he'd have started them yesterday to give them as much time together as possible IMO

    Chester possible comeback this week?

    http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull-City-v-Liverpool-Skipper-Curtis-Davies-says/story-20221789-detail/story.html

"...Davies and a new defensive partner, stepping into the shoes of injury victim Paul McShane. Abdoulaye Faye, Alex Bruce and possibly a fit-again James Chester will be considered.

"Chester, absent since mid-September with a hamstring injury, could come back into the reckoning if he makes a full return to training this week.

"The 24-year-old's return would be even more timely if Davies was to collect a fifth yellow card of the season that would land him a match ban."

I think, unless you've held Chester all this time, I'd be looking at finding an extra 0.1 for a Crystal Pulis defender

Andre is losing it. He just doesn't know which is his best team. Too many changes and still no goals. Defoe sent to USA is joke. They have a proven goalscorer and they don't play him. It is simple. 4 4 2 or 4 4 1 1 having in mind the quality players they have. They have tones of options for that no 10 and a lot of wingers. I really don't know what is Andre thinking. Absolutely no vision in that man. If I was given that kind of cash for spending I believe would have done better. 110% sure !!!

            Definitely.

Soldado is a great poacher as shown in the Spanish league, while Defoe and Adebayor have proven themselves in the premier league (though Adebayor is certainly off the boil these days).
Sigurdsson is proven prem quality, Holtby and Eriksen both young, highly rated no. 10s,
At least 3 quality wingers including one signed for £30m in Lamela, Townsend, Lennon, Chadli.
Two good defensive mids, one on the edge of the Brazil first team,
Two great and versatile box to box midfielders in Dembele and Paulinho.

Even if you assume Wenger would've made the same signings, surely some other manager must be able to do better with these players

AVB is beyond overrated. mercy. hes so lost. AVB is only guy who can get a class player like Eriksen (who isaw all of last yr play w/ Ajax) destory w/ his creativity. comes to Spurs and his talent is burnt. now erik is injured.
LAMELA..i will personally send a dvd w lamela playing w/ River plate in arg and rome. lamela even w/ his pathetic performances w.Spurs sSTILL is called to argentina natl team because THEY KNOW lamela is talent, and wont allow avb or spurs to burn him.
heck even now paulinho from brasil is starting to not play well.
Lamela is NOT the lind of player u throw to ONLY play europa league. pathetic. granted not he threw lamela to play start x Mci away. More reason to burn lamela right...the list goes on on. AVB has his head up where the sun dont shine.

there HAS to be A SERIOUS problems/issue inside that spurs locker room. its impossible for talent in: lamela, paulinho, eriksen, soldado,vertonghen...just these 5 can take a team MILES deep into a league.
PAULINHO alone w/ crap corinhtians team won world tournament ag Chelsea. corinthiasn w/out him this yr ALMOST fell to 2nd division. now he has eriksen etc and this...please...somehing is up

CHADLI cost Spurs £7 million from Twente. just pathetic. for that kind of money i can suggest at least 5 players right in Brasil who would outplay Chadli w/ their LEFT foot. find it too funny to say the least the way millions of pounds r thrown away.
btw, last yr Twente didn't much ag the likes of Eriksen's Ajax etc.

Anyway, back to fiddling around with Gargamel's tool:

    Total captain score 234
Captain score if you swapped all C / VC 92
Captain score as % of overall score 34.51%
    Highest possible captain score 314
Captain score as % of your highest possible captain score 74.52%
    Number of different captains 6
    Total score of autosubs 10
Total score of unused subs 92
Unused sub score as % of of overall score 13.57%

Fairly high captain score and high percentage of points from captaincy, yet not brilliant choices of subs, seems to sum up what I knew already 😛

Yeah, I've only had 2 captain fails this season, pretty good at choosing them, its the rest of the team that's let me down 😉

My success rate is around the 61% mark

My unused subs is at 53, my auto-subs at 32

Major difference is the total (c) score. I'm, guessing you've had

Suarez, Aguero, Suarez, Aguero the last 4?

Suarez, Aguero, Suarez, Suarez in the last 4

Missed the extra few points from Aguero this week, but I consistently captained Sturridge (and Benteke once or twice) early on which paid off

Just reading the blurb on the team news page...Interesting that the scouts have JWP down as full back cover for Clyne (who moves over to cover for Shaw)...That boy really is an rounder...Gonna nab him I think...Kicks, corners, and plays where he likes, good stuff.

I might get him for Sess in a few weeks. When Sess' fixtures turn Barkley has an incredible run that almost demands you start him every week. On that basis selling Sess to a cheapie who can come off the bench if needed might be worth it.

He would help in all sorts of areas at 4.3...every single person who sees him play is racing about his set piece kicks. I think he's playing himself into a permanent start

I'm happy with my defenders and forwarrds but my midfield is an absolute mess.
How would you fix this with 1 free transfer and 1.1 ITB

    Nasri Sessegnon Brady Snodgrass Ravel

Need to play 4 of them this week. Who goes first? Brady or Snoddy? And for whom?

Ok so my main rival is 87 points ahead of me in our mini league and currently ranked in the top 3k overall.

This is the team he will be starting this week.

    Cech (McGregor)
    Baker Coleman GJohnson (Shaw, Shawcross)
    Ramsey Hazard Oscar Wilshere (Januzaj)
    Suarez(c) Giroud Sturridge.

The team I'll be starting is

    Migs (4.0)
    Vlaar, Coleman, Mert (Rangel, Chester)
    Ozil, Oscar, Cabaye, RMorrison (Januzaj)
    Suarez, Aguero(c), Rooney

Now he has Giroud and Sturridge since the start and plans to upgrade 1 or both of them over the coming weeks which will mean he loses at least 1m in TV.

    So a few questions.

    A) Who has the better team?
    B) Who will get the most points this week?
    C) Am I in a good position to start gaining on him?
