The festive schedule starts to kick in now as we brace ourselves for the first of six sets of fixtures this month. Gameweek 14 gets underway this evening with Tony Pulis’ first home match in charge of Crystal Palace as Sam Allardyce’s Hammers roll up to Selhurst Park:

The new Eagles manager has a tough task on his hands – his side have scored just once in the last five Gameweeks, courtesy of our “Spot the Differential” pick Barry Bannan, though one goal against in the previous three signifies their recent resilience at the back.

Big Sam’s side roll up on the back of a 3-0 home thrashing of Fulham last weekend, which ultimately led to the dismissal of Martin Jol. Having failed to score in four of their six road trips, though, there is a fear tonight’s game has 0-0 written all over it – a result that would send the viewing public to sleep, perhaps, but one that would be widely accepted around these parts, with many anticipating clean sheet returns.

The team news is now in and sees the home side unchanged from Saturday’s trip to Norwich, with Cameron Jerome up top alongside Marouane Chamakh. West Ham make four alterations from the weekend, with Joey O’Brien, Razvan Rat, Ravel Morrison and Carlton Cole replacing Guy Demel, George McCartney, Matt Jarvis and Modibo Maiga.

As always on Matchdays, we’ve opened up our Dugout Discussion chatroom right up until the final whistle for those looking to get involved in a spot of real-time banter.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

From gameweek 16 through to New Years Day what is your ideal defensive 5 for your own team?

I'll be looking to keep it fairly cheap so I'm looking at:

    Distin-Vlaar-Evans-Dawson-? (perhaps Terry)

I've got Clyne, Terry, Collins, Coleman, Burner

I'm happy to pick three from those 5 every week I think till the WC.

I'll be looking at terry Coleman walker Gabbidon and Burner. Rotating gabby and Burner is very nice fixtures.

Come to think of it is Walker worth 0.6 more than Dawson with his attacking threat and dead ball duties?

          Perhaps.

Dawson offers essentially nothing going forward, but I wouldn't say Walker is prolific this season anyway. Just a fairly dull wall chose to jump.

Ha ha, true. The "?" will more than likely become one rather than Terry.

I just meant generally I go for the cheaper option once I've selected a club to target (eg. Distin over Coleman, Evans over Vidic)

Quite fancy some WBA defensive cover with their run of fixtures coming up (Norwich home, Cardiff away, Hull home are the next 3).

May give Myhill a run, reckon he may be in the team until the Jan wildcard.

This would allow me to do de Gea/Barkley to Myhill/Oscar for the weekend (assuming Oscar is passed fit).

    What do you guys think?

Thoughts on squad for next week?

    Migs
    Terry Vlaar Gabbidon
    Hazard ramsey Sess PabloH
    Rooney Suarez(c) aguero

    Davis Coleman burner brady.

Exactly the same line up as this week. Thinking save transfer then do vlaar and Migs to walker and Howard for free.

    Thoughts?
