We roll out another instalment of our new weekly article for Members this evening, offering an in-depth statistical analysis of the main captaincy contenders for the Gameweek ahead. Each of the top four supply us with a player apiece this time out as we crunch the numbers to determine whether there really is an alternative to a certain Uruguayan for the armband:

Anyone looking at Haz for captain for GW after this one? Lukaku looks the good option as less chance of being rested than Haz. Hazard *should* play, shouldn't he?! Hmmmm....

I have just done Barkley -> Shelvey, looks best option to me after reviewing stats and listening to my gut. Might only stay in the team for a few weeks but worth a punt especially with HUL and going up in value. Casuals will keep transferring in due to highest points this season for mids his price.

I often wonder whether that's a good thing though - if his price is going up it means he's less of a differential.

But thanks for the reply mate, I'm thinking maybe I'll do Shelvey now and get Redmond for Januzaj later. Have to say I do think Redmond looks pretty tasty from what I've seen of him this season. The only worry with him is whether Norwich score enough to get many assists, but he looks the most likely of anyone in the side.

You can use one anytime through the season and the other only in January. You only "need" to get rid of a couple of them. Use your free transfers, maybe a -4 or -8 then WC in January. The second wild card will be useful much later in the season around double gameweeks.

I have Gerrard in that category..took a punt on him weeks back and has paid off every single week 🙂

good luck, I did Ozil -> Ramsey and it took a lot of nerve to hit Confirm but Ramsey has been just about on par with Ozil's production at a fraction of the cost..could have easily igone poorly!

Ronaldo was doing it at United while surrounded by quality then amped it up even more at Real surrounded by an even greater degree of quality.I think Suarez is QUITE a player, I just think he's benefitting from being at Pool (albeit a Pool slowly on the rise) much like Bale enjoyed Spurs his last 2 seasons.

Ronaldo took a few seasons to bed in at United and had one of the best managers around to help shape him into a much better player. He arguably also had better players around him. They are completely different, It would depend what you wanted them to do for the team you had. Is one better than the other is not really a sensible question. The three of them are truly great footballers.

Ronaldo was only 21 during the start of those 'few seasons'. He's only 2 years older than Suarez.

but I think comparing footballers who don't play exactly the same position is stupid anyways. all great footballers, though on an all-around quality basis (touch, technique, intelligence, physical capability) Messi and Ronaldo are a whole tier above Suarez easy, for me.

I'm considering ignoring the injuries to Boruc, Morrison & Clyne to do this for free as well.

Two guaranteed price risers with scoring potential is becoming more tempting by the minute!!!

Probably seems slightly overpriced on the face of it. Imo he is coming up to his potential now after a settling in period, which most coming to a new league need.
I have him and have no intention of selling while his form stays anywhere near this good.

Shelvey, Whittingham, Bannan or Brunt (I have Sess too...)

Need one to take me up to Jan WC. He will be sharing time in my XI with Ravel.

Whittingham on set pieces and pens, worth a shout..Shelvey is probably just a fluke..considered Oviedo since you just want until the WC and Baines will be back around then?

think I will pass on him for this week. Whittingham is my favoured now because him and Ravel seem to have a good run of games until Xmas - cry, SUN/WBA, liv/mun, SOT, WBA/SUN, ful

I can't decide on this either. I have Whittingham. Have 5.8 to spend. Not keen on Shelvey and worried about Brunt being rotated. Bannan seems like the safest option.

Palace away. could be a 0-0 snoozefest. Don't think it's wise to start both Mert and Coleman, in case there's goals in there..I think Arsenal are much more likely to keep a cleanie at home than Coleman is to get an assist or goal

I was considering the same. I'm playing Coleman I think.

Everton look tight, and Coleman always has a chance of attacking points.

I reckon Swansea will score a couple at home. Michu should be back by Monday night as well, and I have a feeling he'll come back with a bang.

Already have Coleman, didn't want to double up...not that it isn't a decent alternative with Everton's fondness for clean sheets...

I really needed the MFs, which forced my hand on the 8 pointer.
