Having analysed the Defence in yesterday’s first instalment, we move onto the men in the centre of the park as we roll out our recommended player picks for the next four to six Gameweeks. Chelsea’s Belgian sensation continues to lead the way after last night’s stunning performance against the Black Cats, while Arsenal’s two main protagonists retain lofty positions despite a testing run to follow:

Eden Hazard retains top spot after another devastating display in last night’s win at Sunderland. With Oscar missing out against the Black Cats due to an ankle injury, the Belgian delivered his fourth set of double figures in the last seven Gameweeks for the Blues – a trip to Stoke and home games against Palace and Swansea in the next four look set to see him plunder the points again.

Arsenal duo Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil remain in the top five refresh, with an assist and goal respectively in last night’s win over Hull. The Gunners’ schedule is far from straightforward, though – home games against Everton and Chelsea bookend a trip to the Etihad in the next three. Those with more than one of Arsene Wenger’s attacking options may look elsewhere in light of such a schedule. Theo Walcott is further down the rankings – he has still yet to start a match since returning from injury, with his manager explaining he was no more than a sub against Steve Bruce’s side after failing to train over the past week due to illness.

Steven Gerrard’s outstanding consistency earns him the nod over midfield team-mate Philippe Coutinho. An assist in last night’s win over Norwich means the Reds skipper has now earned his owners attacking returns in eight of the last nine Gameweeks – Liverpool’s next three home matches (WHM, CAR, HUL) could barely be more appetising but trips to Spurs, City and Chelsea somewhat lessen his appeal. Yohan Cabaye has also delivered on a regular basis. The 6.5-priced Newcastle midfielder has scored or assisted in six of the last 10 and has home games against Southampton and Stoke in addition to a trip to Palace in the next four – the downside is that he remains on the Suspension Tightrope and is just a single caution away from a one-match ban.

Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri have the form but three of the next four fixtures are a little tricky for City. A visit to Southampton and home games against Arsenal and Liverpool look a real test for Manuel Pellegrini’s men as they attempt to maintain the last 100% home record in the top-flight. The Ivorian is the pricier of the pair, at 9.6 to 8.2, though this is vindicated by his consistency – Toure has now scored or assisted in nine of the first 14 Gameweeks compared to Nasri’s seven. The latter remains a real differential, though, and currently sits in less than 6% of FPL teams.

Stephane Sessegnon’s stock took a real dive after he was benched for last night’s home loss to City. With rotation kicking in, though, we expect him to return to the fold as Steve Clarke’s side brace themselves for home games against Norwich and Hull, with a trip to Cardiff sandwiched in between. Chris Brunt offers a cheaper route into the Baggies midfield for such a schedule – coming in at 5.0 to Sessegnon’s 6.6, he has scored or assisted in three of the last five.

Nathan Redmond, Barry Bannan and Peter Whittingham are the stand-out budget selections on offer in this week’s refresh. Coming in at just 4.6, Redmond looks a secure pick in light of injuries to Robert Snodgrass and Anthony Pilkington on the flanks – trips to West Brom and Sunderland supplement the visits of Swansea and Fulham in the next four for Chris Hughton’s side. Bannan is even cheaper at 4.4 and has played a part in each of Palace’s last two goals – he welcomes Cardiff, Newcastle and Norwich to Selhurst Park in the next six and also travels to Villa.

Whittingham (5.1) pays visit to Palace before three home games in four (WBA, SOT, SUN) and heads the queue for set-pieces and spot-kicks for Cardiff. As mentioned in yesterday’s defenders piece, Malky Mackay’s side rotate home/away perfectly with Palace all the way up to Gameweek 27 – some Fantasy managers are eyeing up a cut-price Bannan/Whittingham partnership to take advantage of what looks a very kind run of matches.

Antonio Valencia has started the last five for United and, whilst he has managed just a goal and assist all season, has a very enticing schedule on his agenda. Home games with Newcastle and West Ham are supplemented by trips to Villa, Hull and Norwich and, at 7.1, he could appeal as a mid-price punt as David Moyes looks to recover from last night’s loss to former club Everton – a move to right-back midway through the Toffees defeat is somewhat worrying, though.

Maybe Prof, more to the point will he do anything?

From what I see he is played against perceived weaker sides and still doesn't get much. I suppose it depends whether you have a full team without him.

I'll have a back 5 if he doesn't play, and Ozil & Ramsey who i can assume maybe rotation risks! But made my FT before the Rooney suspension, so any sub would be for -4

Tough choices. If you see someone with a decent fixture you would want to keep after, then the hit is more worthwhile imo.

Bannan should be nailed on, but Brady should start too, which makes a hit unappealing. Then again, Brady has been playing pretty far back the last two games and he's been frustrating since his return from injury. I might just make the change before the weekend.

Struggling to get 11 starters for the weekend:

Rooney, Morrison out. Baker, JWP not nailed on.

1 FT. 0 in the bank. Options:

    A) JWP > Pozuelo
    B) JWP > Delph
    C) Baker > Chester
    D) Morrison > Redmond/Kasami/Bannan
    E) Save and play Baker in 5 man defence

    What do you guys reckon?

I really like Delph as a footballer but not sure how good he is fantasy wise. Bannan looks to be good value with set pieces but again, Palace won't score much.

That being said, I say A. Pozuelo has looked in Europa all season and it's just a matter of time before he's a starter.

I agree with all your points. Not sure about all the Bannan hype on here, Palace may be tightening up at the back but I on't think they've got much going for them up the other end.

Pozuelo has started the last 4 and has 2 good fixtures coming up. After that though the fixtures take a turn for the worst. But then again I'll only need him for the weekend with Rooney and Rav back next week. Leaning towards A!

Yea that's the real concern there - who starts on the wings. Seems like Laudrup loves shuffling the wingers to keep them fresh since they're all small quick wingers who seem a little more fragile than most.

I might not want to risk getting him in as a 4th midfielder. But he's got FPL potential that's for sure.

    Mig 4.0
    Coleman Kosc CLYNE Chester Burner
    Ozil Hazard Ramsey SESS jwp
    Suarez Lukaku Rooney

    +1.7m banked

Will probably keep Sess this GW, though want to get rid.

Thinking of Clyne > Ward for free this week. Or just play Coleman Kosc Chester Burner this week and save the FT?

Not really. I'm past the punts phase haha did that with Moses, Amalfitano and then Sess.

Basically my choices this week are A) Clyne > Shaw or B) Save FT, play Chester Burner Coleman Kosc.

2 FTs next week would be Mig > Howard, Ozil > Oscar (maybe).

Considered that but prefer the higher ceiling potential of Sess vs the defenders. That being said, whether i get rid of Clyne this week, I'm still likely to play a 4-4-2. Not starting JWP against City that's for sure.

Tricky one this coming week.. Could do with some second opinions.
97 and a red arrow in FFS league, good job guys!
    Migs
    Ridgewell, Flanagan, Coleman, Collins, Shaw
    RavMo, Ozil, Ramsey, Haz, Januz
    Aguero, Roo, Suarex

2FT but 0 bank. Reasonable amount invested in Roo and don't really want to drop him but need to make 2 transfers to get a decent team out I feel. Was thinking of getting rid of Januz and Shaw for Bannan and Gabbidon?

    Leaves me with
    Migs
    Flan, Ridge, Gabb, Coleman

Thinking of investing in a West Brom striker for the next few weeks. It would have to be Long, right?

Play Lovren or sell JWP (-4) and bring in a 7.1 mid?
Paulinho at 6.7 looks like a good option? Has to score soon.

    Gazzaniga
    Gabbidon / Dawson / Coleman

    Aguero / Suarez

Rooney M.Turner and Rangel on the bench.

    Mignolet (Harper)
    Gabbidon Coleman Turner (Figueroa) (Rosenior)
    Morrison Ramsay Ozil Toure Navas
    Remy Suaraz Aguero

    2 FTs this week.

Think I want Hazard & Lukaku soon but what to do this week ?

Use 1 FT to get better/cheap defender (Ward > Rosenior) and 2 FT's for next week, should I get Navas out & Hazard in now .... but how ?

Lose Remy & Navas ... bring in Hazard & Delafou !?

    Got 2 FT on hand.
can't think of a good transfer.

    Mignolet-Marshall
    Coleman-Williams-*Clyne-Ward-Chester
    Ozil-Ramsey-Amalfitanao-*R.Morrison-Jedinak
    Suarez-Aguero -*Rooney

    itb: 3.0
    *not starting/ knock

    Thinking shipping
    a) Jedinak > Bannan
    b) Amalfit > 8.1 mid/ who?
    c) Jedinak > 7.3 mid/ who?
    d) your own suggestion of a transfer

I'd like to keep Ozil, Roo, & Ravel btw.

Would you still keep Januzaj and play him vs Newcastle, or switch him for Bannan?
I want to free up funds, and get a cheaper 5th mid which will be benched most of the times. But he actually has to play for his team. Not something I can count on with Januzaj.

I'll have to do it at some point, but it looks to me that he'll be given a chance next week so why shouldn't I save a FT? I can afford another 0.1 price drop with out actually loosing any value
