An upturn in form by Palace’s former Villa man and a certain enigmatic Bulgarian over at Craven Cottage come under the spotlight this evening. Tottenham’s improvement in front of goal and United’s faltering home form are also picked apart in our latest review of the statistics from the weekend and beyond:

Never known anything like the lack of interest in Ozil...He has 32 points from three games whilst Aguero can't manage that many from his previous five...and yet Aguero rising faster and at 2 mill more. It can't be the fixtures because they play each other...so why is it ?

Well he's exciting to watch for sure...and i didn't intend to just single out Aguero (my bad) but have you ever known somebody score 32 pts over three weeks and attract so little attention ?...i haven't...

I think its more to do with limited choices upfront who are expensive...and with the other options in midfield and lack of funds it doesn't happen... that's my excuse

For me selling Ozil meant I could play three hitters with SAR

Oscar, silva Walcott as opposed to just Ozil and one other BH

That's not my point..it's the fact that somebody scoring so many points in the last three weeks should get so few buyers...i don't understand it.. Normally if somebody scores just ten points in one week they attract thousands and thousands regardless of price..

because even as an arsenal fan he is less prolific away from home not sure why he just is, he tends to assist the assister away, where as at home he wants to be the vocal point, and allows ramsey to in away. Where as aguero constantly delivers no matter who or where even when city lose he often has a goal or two.

Also doubling up on mids in my view is always a danger. (having said this considering both oscar and haz this week)

Thats my basic theory anyway, i understand your point though.

For me, it was a matter his high price for a midfielder + already having Ramsey and considering two Arsenal midfielders to be overkill. If the Ramsey train ever slows down, he would be the Arsenal player I turn to.

    Howard
    terry jagielka chester
    coutinho walcott hazard morrison
    Lukaku(vc) aguero suarez(c)

    Ramsey williams dawson

reason behind benching ramsey: man city at home.. tough fixture. If arsenal do score I see it being on the counter and we all know how good walcott can be on the counter. dont want to play both.

    *pushes chips all in*

I just broke a cardinal rule of mine (I think others agree) and took a hit to bring in a defender. I got two Everton defenders (Howard, Coleman) after having none previously. My head-to-head opponent this week generally outscores me but also didn't have any Everton, so I tried to build a differential that way and give it a shot. Also, I got it before their prices rise even more.

    May fortune favor the bold.

    @ Back to Ballacks

Having processed your post I can "sort of see" where you're coming from ... there's a chance that Ramsey might have a quiet spell, but i just don't think you can afford not to play him. People have been saying it's a fluke, streaky spell, making the most of not having Walcott ... but he has still produced goals no matter who else is or isn't around him.

I think it's the sort of play for someone who's behind in their league by 50-80 points and has to bank on miracles, but if he continues with his form it'll just get you further behind. There does also seem to be a lack of really reliable midfield point scorers so you have to continue with the in-form players.

As for Suarez, I don't think you can keep him down with his current form ... no matter who else does or doesn't play for Liverpool Suarez is on the end of everything. Guys like Sterling, Johnson and Henderson have been teeing him up so not having Gerrard or Coutinho makes no difference to his opportunities. Apologies, I don't mean to disagree so strongly, and I can respect what you're saying ... but it would seem to be madness to drop these two guys whilst their in the form of their careers.

Now, when do Arsenal play Stoke so that Ryan Shawcross can make the decision simple?

totally agree. im actually benching ramsey this gw only cos the only way i see arsenal scoring is on the counter.. and im playing walcott whos great for that. but i wouldnt bench ramsey for any other fixture apart from man city away.

I agree with lots of that and I am chasing big style BUT players don't score like that all the time, there will be breaks and I feel Suarez's break will come with Gerard out of the side, their opposition over the nxt 4 is tough.
Don't get me wrong, that 4 goals last week was of the highest quality, probably the best hattrick I have witnessed.
Saying Gerard doesn't tee him up that much is incorrect on so many levels, he has assisted him 3 or 4 more times than the fpl stats say, also if assists are coming from others, they won't be as frequent w/o Ger & Studge in the side. They are a far weaker team w/o those 2 players. Are Moses and Sterling gonna take up the slack? Doubtful against the likes of Spurs, City and Chelsea.

I didn't say that Gerrard doesn't provide assists, he does and he's awesome at it ... i just think that mediocre players can still give Suarez the ball and he'll score. Look at where his assists came from against Norwich ... all over the place, one from a little dink in midfield that he jams over the goalie from downtown. Suarez is that good at the moment that my gran could get some assist points, and she's more a defensive mid.

Anyways ... I like a man with conviction and I can only encourage you to trust your gut and pull the trigger. Fortune favours the brave ... and getting rid of Ramsey and Suarez is the bravest move a man could pull!

No, but am seriously considering it, could be a massive differential.
If I told you at the start of the season you could have RVP as a differential over 82% of the game for the Xmas season with United in dire need of points with these fixtures

          Aston Villa (A)
          West Ham (H)
          Hull City (A)
          Norwich (A)
          Tottenham (H)
          Swansea (H)

          What would you say?

I agree he is a differential ... if you're chasing points.

He's been out injured for 4 weeks, and Man United are terrible at the moment ... and there are other forwards who are scoring for fun and have equally as good fixtures.

Warning: this might be long and confusing but need some help.

having 2FT can be so confusing at times...have a decent team already i reckon

    Myhill (boruc)
    vidic dawson burner (mert olson)
    ramsey hazard nasri coutinho (januzaj)
    suarez aguero lukaku

    A:
gw16: vidic >> distin and carry over FT......myhill has two decent games.
gw17: will have 2FT's and 0,7m but no idea what to use them on
gw18: downgrade either coutinho/nasri >> paulinho (or mert >> xx) to fund boruc >> howard

leads to a def of distin/dawson/mert/burner/olson...so expensive def

    B:
    gw16: boruc + vidic >> howard + ward.
    gw17: save FT
gw18: can choose whether i want my 3rd eve player a mid i.e. nasri >> mirallas or def i.e. mert >> any eve def

leads to a def of dawson/eve def/ward/burner/olson...so 2 big hitters in def

    leaning towards B...Pros for B:
    - boruc would have dropped further by gw18 and howard risen so might as well do it now
    - with option B, i can decide in gw18 whether my 3rd eve player should be an attacker

    Cons for B:
    - uses an extra transfer (bringing in ward now) before i can get my 3rd eve player in gw18 whereas with A, i can skip the "ward" transfer as i know i will be downgrading coutinho/nasri to fund howard

    1) Ivanovic and Giroud to Distin and Rooney

    or

    2) Mirallas, Giroud to Ronney and 6.3 midfidler?

    Szczesny
    G. Johnson, Ivanovic, Zabaleta (Baker, Chester)
Mirallas, R. Morrison, Ramsey, Hazard (Pozuelo)
    Aguero, Giroud, Suarez

First option is maybe better for next gameweek, but second is better long - term plan in my opinion, because I want to restore team balance (my defense is too expensive and brings bad score)...
    Thanks!

He's a solid box to box midfielder ... Yaya is often mistaken for a purely defensive mid, but he's always hanging around the box when City move into attack. He has a brilliant long range shot, is involved in set pieces and provides a mean through ball. I think he's genuine quality, but with so many other quality midfielders around it's hard to bring him in when Silva is available for cheaper and is a genuine attacking midfielder.

He would walk into most teams in the world. He has everything, power, technique, even flair on occasions. Plays for a very attacking team with fernandinho mostly sitting back helping him to bomb forward. He is rotation-proof over xmas and ittle chance of going down with an injury eg silva

Having his best scoring run of his city career, whats not to like?

He is at the africa cup of nations mid january so the casuals will all jump ship then

Hey guys, I have a repost. If you can't be bothered to read it all and comment, just go a/b/c/d.

    Boruc -> ??? 5.2M

    a) Krul (have Santon)
    b) Marshal (have Burner)
    c) Guzan
    d) Ruddy

Have Speroni so I need one that rotates well with him. I seriously consider A and B, other two fit the rotation, but wouldn't be my first choice.

Krul is the best out of those and in best team, but with not so great fixtures after next two home games. And getting him means doubling up on NEW defence and spending pretty much everything.
Marshal probably has the best home schedule until the end of the season and costs 4.6M. With him I'd be doubling up on CAR defence.
If you think I should get Ruddy or Guzan over those two I'd like to know why.

    Thanks
