We roll out the next instalment of our weekly article for Members this evening, offering an in-depth statistical analysis of the main captaincy contenders for the set of fixtures ahead. This week, more than most, getting the armband call correct looks crucial – given that all of our featured five have acquired at least 12% of the votes cast in the Gameweek 16 Captain Poll, opinion looks split right across the board. Time to delve into the data, then…

Yaya is a safe option for me it seems everyone has him in my mini league so I would choose Silva as a differential. Silva is better for the long run as well as long as he doesn't get injured

Clyne or Burner will probably be a last minute call.

Southampton being more solid defensively at the back this season and Newcastle lacking Cabaye have swayed me towards Clyne atm.

Have same team apart from Terry/McAuley, Jags/Coleman, Sess/Brady and Faye/Vlaar. Closest I've seen a team to mine.

At the moment I've got Burner over Clyne - thinking CAR at home to WBrom more chance of a cleanie than SOU away to NEWC...

Also on Lukaku (c) and Hazard (vc) thoughts on this Pundy?

Like I mentioned above, no Cabaye would hamper Newcastle. I'd also wait to see if Schneiderlin is back for Southampton.

West Brom hardly fail to score and Cardiff concede a lot of shots which also are factors in me playing Clyne over Burner.

Lukaku(c) for me as well Kiwi.

West Brom have failed to find the net in only two games. One of those games was the last one, so perhaps the stats imply that they are due to bulge the onion bag at least once against Cardiff City. Southampton will probably concede at least one goal to Newcastle as well. So, if you're between Burner and Clyne, I would go Clyne simply for the boosted attacking threat.

Ha. I do think of Jack Lambert every time I see Ricky Lambert or hear the name. It's an automatic. 49ers, eh? Good team to like. Second to the Steelers in all time Super Bowl wins. One behind, which is why I was kinda rooting for them to lose against the Ravens in this past year's Super Bowl. Of course, the Ravens are a major Steelers rival, so it was kind of a damned if one team wins, damned if the other team wins.

Yeah, we've been through quite a barren spell since the days of Montana / Young, Rice, Rathman, Craig, Lott, Romanowski and co!

Feels great to watch the niners with an exciting QB again. Years of watching Alex Smith line up behind center, were excruciating. Get a genuine buzz seeing Kaepernick strutt his stuff! Still a lot to learn but so much potential.

Saw the Steelers at Wembley earlier in the year. Bit of a surprising loss to the Vikings but it was a good game.

By the way, I'm Chelsea fan. Kind of a long story. The first game I saw them play on the telly, they were wearing black and gold kits, which reminded me of the Steelers. That had something to do with it. So too did Anelka, but that's where the story takes twists and turns involving a study abroad in Madrid followed by a summer in France living with a family I met through a girl I knew when I was growing up. Crazy world. Never been to England. Dying to go, especially to see a Prem game.

Fellas, can I please get some early feedback? Haven't done that in a while. Cheers.

    A. Lallana > Oscar [double up with Hazard]
    B. Lallana > Silva [fit enough to start? tough fixture as well]
    C. Lallana > Walcott [fit enough to start? tough fixture as well]
    D. Mignolet > Howard [missed the price rises, double up with Coleman]
    E. Save FT as team looks pretty good for this week [I can play Chester (HUL) or Lallana (new) or B. Turner (WBA)]
    F. Any other ideas?

    Mignolet
    Terry Coleman Chester
    Hazard Ramsey Paulinho Lallana
    Aguero Lukaku (c) Suarez (vc)

    Lewis, B. Turner, JWP, Ward

B or D. Team looks good so you could potentially save the FT, but I can't see Migs out scoring Howard this week and you'll probably want Howard in soon anyway. Lallana still has tough fixtures and Silva would be a great long term pick but possibly a week early.

I bought him two weeks ago and he delivered. His goalscoring record in Brazil has always been decent and so have his stats this season. He has fairly decent fixtures so I will keep him for now.

I would get rid of Paulinho before Lallana. Ah, maybe not. Both are kind of in scoring limbo right now. I'm not sure where to go here. I just know I don't like that Ramsey, Paulinho, and Lallana threesome in the midfield. It's rubbing me the wrong way, at least for this weekend. You might just want to stick, though. You know what....go Lallana to Silva. That would be my move. It's written in the stars, as Lallana plus your 2.1 equals Silva's value.

Guess Paulinho isn't exactly in scoring limbo if he just scored last gameweek. I was knocking him earlier today, but the more I think about it, the guy could be a good differential. Just needs to learn how to tap a ball into the net. It can't be that hard if he made it this far. Of course, the best don't always make it to the pro's. Often times, it's just the right connections and dumb luck. A scout shows up to practice the day you hit the upper 90 from 35 yards out.

Sounds slightly crazy. Although if your freeing up funds it makes sense and you need rid of glen IMO. On paper though a -4 for an average defender (fpl wise) doesn't sound great.

Bench Walcott or Ramsey this week. I don't want to play both cos it's the worst fixture on calander. Ramsey more chance to play, Walcott better chance of getting a score if he does play.... Other mids are hazard, fer and Morrison.
