Sergio Agueroโ€™s calf injury in the 6-3 win over Arsenal has served up a potential major setback for thousands of Fantasy managers. With Manuel Pellegrini offering us little insight into the severity of the injury and a scan imminent, we can only wait on news from the Etihad. However, resident Fantasy Football Scout physio, Facer, has made a timely return to offer his early view. Analysing the incident involved and Agueroโ€™s reaction and movement, hereโ€™s Facerโ€™s detailed report and his take on the likely prognosis.

The incident occurred barely a minute into the second half and gives a clear indication of the mechanism of injury. Playing a one-two with David Silva, Sergio Aguero receives the ball and with one touch plays it back into the path of Silva. Almost immediately Aguero starts to limp and, several seconds later, in an attempt to take the pressure from the injury, falls on to his back. At first glance the incident looked fairly innocuous, but with closer inspection, we see that the former Atletico man didnโ€™t quite have the time to position himself correctly and improvises a one-touch pass into Silvaโ€™s run with a subtly excessive rotation at the right hip. This is significant because the contracting Gluteal muscles produce a rotatory force at the hip and, with the studs of Agueroโ€™s right boot planted firmly in the ground, severely restricting movement at the hip and ankles, this force had nowhere to go, resulting in a tear to one of the calf muscles.

As Aguero is lying on the ground his demeanour is interesting. He does not appear to be in a great deal of pain and he is not reaching for the injury. In terms of severity, these are positive signs. Suffering a severe calf strain is like being shot in the back of the leg and Aguero would have hit the ground immediately and would need to have been stretchered off. We then see the Argentine hobble from the field. It is worth noting that, although exhibiting severely restricted movement at the right ankle, Aguero is able to partially weight bear on the injured limb, giving us a further clue as to the severity and likely duration of any absence. Similarly, as Aguero is led from the field, we can observe him palpating the back of his calf towards the โ€˜bellyโ€™ of the Gastrocnemius, suggesting a tear to the meat of the muscle rather than attachments, which heals more quickly. In summary, I would suggest that Aguero has suffered a grade 1-2 calf strain, which would see him sidelined for a minimum of 10 days, but more likely 2-3 weeks. Sadly for his owners, that would see Aguero miss at least the next three league outings.

A Scout Disclaimer: While Facer offers an expert’s view of such injuries, with just a remote assessment to go on, the opinions expressed here should not be taken as fact or acted on with any degree of certainty.

Not had a rant about Coutinho yet today...here comes one now...Never mind the 16 shots he's duffed in the last few games, how come the best striker in the world can't hit a barn door when Courinho sets up a chance for him...?...13 chances created from Coutinho in the past couple of weeks and only one is converted...ONE....!!

I am reluctant to let go as his numbers are so good. It is things like this that make me worse at FPL than I feel I should be. I did the same with Soldado earlier in the season as his numbers were so good.

I did the same with Paulinho, i just stuck hold for too long..Being a duffer in front of goal is perhaps more forgivable as a mistaken pick, he's obviously a bad finisher, but all Coutinho has to do is get the ball to Suarez and Suarez does the rest,,,or not as the case may be for some strange reason..

Don't do it - I'm looking to take a hit to get rid of him for Rooney or Neg. Remy's had 3 straight blanks while jobbers like Gouffran and Sissoko get amongst the points. Plus I don't see any need for Utd to pack the midfield like yesterday against West Ham and their no strikers.

If you've already spent your FT, I'd wait until next week. In general I think you'd get more replies if you put up a few suggestions of what you are considering instead of posting your team and hoping someone will sort it out for you.

That said, there are lots of options to free up cash in defense; Ward, Chester or B Turner to mention a few.

He still ran the show and should have scored. And UTD play differently away - look at his scores since RVP has been out..third only to Aguero and Suarez - and its easier to cover city with Yaya / Silva for me

But he will prob drop by -3 regardless this and maybe next week and I see Negredo looks like rising so that's a swing of .2 tonight

Morning lads. For a hit I'm considering

    Aguero > lukaku
    Shelvey > silva

    Team is

    Szcz. Davis
    Coleman. Distin. Terry. Clyne. Burner
    Hazard. Ramsey. Sess. Shelvey. Whitt
    Aguero. Rooney. Suarez

    Thoughts ?

Good transfers if Kun is out for a couple of GW.

Sess to silva instead of shelvey perhaps?

To all the english lads on here: Do u feel Ole Gunnar Solskjær is a qualified candidate to the vacant WBA job. Does he have what it takes, or is this just the media selling a hype?http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/448916/West-Brom-plan-to-bring-Ole-Gunnar-Solskjaer-to-The-Hawthorns

For one, he didn't win the league in three consecutive seasons, this year they finished 6th. I think Solskjær is a talented manager, but he hasn't really been tested in tough times. He came to Molde to a good team and a very nice budget to spend on new players. Alex Ferguson seems to think highly of him though, and I guess he knows more about what it takes than I do.
