We’ve reached the Seventh Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup VII, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after 16 more teams were eliminated in the previous batch of matches. As we cast an eye over the weekend’s results and look to the next round, those still in with a shout should note that the upcoming fixtures will be played out over Gameweek 21 – the 10 fixtures on New Year’s Day do not count towards your points hauls:

Site regular Tony Hibberts Love Child squeezed into the last 16 by a one-point margin. Having won his tie 60-59, he now sits in 268th overall up – the highest-ranked manager remaining in the draw – and is up against Tdubb05 for a place in the Quarter-Finals.

Site moderator applebonkers is still in with a shout of snapping up the silverware. A 63 point-haul was enough to see him through last time around and earn him a spot against sim716 when the cup resumes in Gameweek 21.

The 2ndMan deserves a mention here. A tally of 72 points was higher than any other manager over the last round and sees him square up to 11 Men in Flight in the next round. Yes the Sess! racked up 71 points – the second-highest haul of Round 6 – and will now face FPLAaron, who, with an overall position of 464,000, is the rank outsider for the tournament.

Finally, Tal was the lowest-scoring manager to earn a spot in the next round after registering 54 points in Gameweek 19 – he now goes head-to-head with EricCantona_707.

If you want a full update on how the ties played out in the previous round, click here. Otherwise, click here for the Seventh Round details.

As always, we wish good luck to the final 16 as they brace themselves for battle!

      I'd go for Cabaye.

Even if it is short term Sterling's game time looks more and more dicey and he is no long undervalued.

Personally I'd consider Lallana at least before the West Brom game but Cabaye is a season keeper.

deadzone is a frame of mind....

When the page turnovers slow down.
When the responses become more than one-liners.
You know it when you're in it.

I could do that. This plan is to make sure I'm getting some points in this week and WC in the last week of Jan. I don't have the other WC so ideally would like to leave it as late as possible. I'd have to play Whittingham and Luna this week if I keep Ozil and Silva.

    Quick poll.

Who's already set on activating their WC New Year's Day?

I like to save mine for the inevitable DGWs but has it been a mild winter in England this season? Maybe no chance of cancellations? If I can be convinced the weather wont cooperate with my plans, I would be inclined to activate on the first. Its the longest period between deadlines to profit off of rises, and its probably the GW where most managers will play it so there will be even more transactions than the other GWs I would think.

But then there should be some DGWs near the end of January once this next round of FA Cup games are played, no? Or is that after Feb 1?

    Discuss.

FA Cup could cause DGW's. especially if we see a fixture pileup like Chelsea had last year with FA Cup (and a replay or two iirc), plus CL and EPL matches to be played

Already spent the other. Just wondering if there could be replays that cause DGWs or anything of that nature that would want me to keep it my pocket, cause Im leaning toward playing it early.

everything centers on Aguero eh? Interesting.

No thought of just leaving a forward slot that you can afford to transfer him in without a hit, like lukaku + 2 million in change or something? just an example, mind.

Only early DGWs last year were Sunderland vs Reading(Posponed GW3), Chelsea vs Soton(Chelsea in the Club World Cup) & Arsenal vs West Ham(Tube strikes).

FA Cup ones came later in GW34/36

See I look at it this way...

Hull beat liverpool 3-1, Hull are on form, Hull have a great defence and are set up really nicely, just won 6-0 and confidence is high! Suarez has drawn 2 blanks in a row, so slightly (ever so slightly) out of form. (Cant believe I just said that)

Cardiff lost 0-3 to Arsenal, Cardiff are out of form, haven't been looking good recently, have no manager at the moment, no leader at the club, lots of distraction behind the scenes, therefore possibly a low morale around the club??

Therefore.. Wally (C) and Suarez (VC) ????
