We’ve reached the Seventh Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup VII, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after 16 more teams were eliminated in the previous batch of matches. As we cast an eye over the weekend’s results and look to the next round, those still in with a shout should note that the upcoming fixtures will be played out over Gameweek 21 – the 10 fixtures on New Year’s Day do not count towards your points hauls:

Site regular Tony Hibberts Love Child squeezed into the last 16 by a one-point margin. Having won his tie 60-59, he now sits in 268th overall up – the highest-ranked manager remaining in the draw – and is up against Tdubb05 for a place in the Quarter-Finals.

Site moderator applebonkers is still in with a shout of snapping up the silverware. A 63 point-haul was enough to see him through last time around and earn him a spot against sim716 when the cup resumes in Gameweek 21.

The 2ndMan deserves a mention here. A tally of 72 points was higher than any other manager over the last round and sees him square up to 11 Men in Flight in the next round. Yes the Sess! racked up 71 points – the second-highest haul of Round 6 – and will now face FPLAaron, who, with an overall position of 464,000, is the rank outsider for the tournament.

Finally, Tal was the lowest-scoring manager to earn a spot in the next round after registering 54 points in Gameweek 19 – he now goes head-to-head with EricCantona_707.

If you want a full update on how the ties played out in the previous round, click here. Otherwise, click here for the Seventh Round details.

As always, we wish good luck to the final 16 as they brace themselves for battle!

    (1) Which one would you bench? Distin or Ward?

Coleman - Evra - Ward (NOR) / Distin (stk)

    (2) Is it a good idea to play Sterling (HUL) and bench Cabaye (wba) ?

      1) I'd probably bench Evra tbh, but of the two, Distin.

      2) Never a great idea to bench Cabaye but I think Sterling is probably a bit more likely to get points this week.

    Repost

    Predictions for Southampton v
    Chelsea?
Mourinho really seemed to figure out
Saints last time, and I think the home
    advantage will be counterbalanced by
    the injuries.
Can only see a Chelsea win. I'll go
    1-2.

    My team for this week:

    Gazzaniga
    Luna, Coleman, Distin, Ward
    Januzaj, Walcott, Cabaye
    Rooney, Lukaku, Suarez (C)
Bench: Harper | Whittingham, Dawson, Silva

The plan is to WC after GW23.

Already done Ozil -> Walcott, so yes or no to the following transfers for hits:
    A) Harper/Gazza -> Mannone
    B) Silva -> Hazard

Bear in mind Cardiff will probably sit very deep which will give Walcott less space in behind to use his pace. That's not to say he won't score/assist as he's getting better at poaching goals these days, but I think he'll have fewer clear cut chances.

Tempted by wally captained.. It's just too hard to ignore Suarez as he likes to run riot against the smaller teams.

But.. Cardiff are a bit all over the place with Tan causing problems.. And hull are on a high and don't seem to get beaten badly against big teams..

    ------- Walcott Cabaye Hazard

    1.7 ITB lads,

    1) Save FT
    2) Collins -> Zab and bench Ward
    3) Distin -> Zab (or Komp) and play Ward.

Definitely 1. Like me you've backed double Everton for this long, you might as well give at least another week given that it's Stoke. City could easily concede. You might get a load of injuries and be glad you have the extra transfer.

No one said he's better but he has to come into consideration given his jucier home fixture and the different trajectories of Hull and Cardiff as the pay their respective visits to Anfield and The Emirates.

Nah I think just keep the FT.

Everton have a better chance of a CS in both their next 2 games over City, who have two fairly touch away fixtures.

I've found that holding out and keeping FT's over the past month have benefited my greatly.

On the other hand, means he;s less likely to need a rest prior to Sturridge return. Might be a banker this week.

    Quick RMT before bed.

    Szczesny
    Koscielny Coleman G Johnson Ward
    Cabaye Walcott Hazard Sterling
    Suarez Rooney

Bench: Krul, Silva 🙁 , JRod, Clyne

    Should I:
    A) Play JRod vs CHE(H) 28% Chance of scoring
    B) Play Ward vs NOR(H) 37% Chance of clean sheet + may be pushed into midfield role

    Thanks Guys 😀

Free tip for the dead zone - Man Utd striker Nick Powell is rumoured to be on his way to Hull on loan. Classified as a midfielder in the game at 5.0 and he could play up front. Surely a better option than Danny Graham or Sagbo. 5 league goals in 15 games and 3 Europa league goals with Wigan, not too bad. Might be worth keeping an eye on

Hard to not agree really. I think it'd be better if it was simply a 2nd WC which became available after January 1st to be used at any stage in the second half of the season. I hate that I have to use it before the 1st of Feb.

Yes. Terry over Distin? That's debatable, I think Chelsea could perhaps Get a CS and Terry has attacking potential, but Distin play Stoke (hate The double Everton at The back though, hasn't worked at all). Rest is very good.
