Steven Gerrard could be set to return for Liverpool’s clash with Hull. Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud are ruled out for Arsenal, while Theo Walcott is amongst a number of players to be assessed. Christian Benteke and Ron Vlaar are back in training for Villa. James Collins and James Tomkins are likely to miss out for West Ham’s trip to Fulham. Martin Demichelis is still sidelined for City, Mauricio Pochettino is still uncertain of Artur Boruc’s comeback date as the Saints welcome Chelsea to St Mary’s:

Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud and Kieran Gibbs have all been ruled out of Arsenal’s home game against Cardiff in Arsene Wenger’s early morning press conference. The trio join Aaron Ramsey on the sidelines, while Theo Walcott, Tomas Rosicky, Thomas Vermaelen, Jack Wilshere and Nacho Monreal are all to beassessed today.

Brendan Rodgers has revealed Steven Gerrard is back in training and “will see how he is” for tomorrow’s match with Hull. Joe Allen is sidelined for the Reds, whilst Mamadou Sakho is also likely to miss out as Rodgers awaits scan results on the hamstring injury that forced him out of Sunday’s game at Chelsea.

Christian Benteke and Ron Vlaar are back in training ahead of Villa’s crucial trip to Sunderland. Paul Lambert is optimistic over their availability against the Black Cats and confirmed both “look ok”, though will continue to be assessed over the next 24 hours.

West Ham’s injury woes are showing little sign of abating ahead of a trip to Fulham. James Collins and James Tomkins are almost certainly out of the showdown, whilst further up the pitch, Ravel Morrison is also looking unlikely to travel, according to the club’s official website.

Martin Demichelis remains on the sidelines for City, whilst Stevan Jovetic is also ruled out yet again along with Sergio Aguero and Micah Richards as Manuel Pellegrini’s side roll up to the Liberty. Joe Hart is available despite suffering a facial injury against Palace at the weekend.

Shane Long has returned to training ahead of West Brom’s home clash with Newcastle. The forward is expected to recover from a calf complaint, though Victor Anichebe and Chris Brunt remain doubts – the latter is hoping to train this morning. The Baggies have Nicolas Anelka available for selection as the FA investigate his goal celebration against West Ham last weekend.

Marko Arnautovic is expected to recover from illness in time for Stoke’s home game with Everton. Glenn Whelan and Marc Wilson return from one-match suspensions but Andy Wilkinson is out with a heel problem. For the Toffees, Sylvain Distin is expected to shake off a minor hamstring problem sustained against Southampton last weekend – a relief for Roberto Martinez, with Phil Jagielka already ruled out.

Pablo Osvaldo remains a doubt for Southampton’s home game with Chelsea after picking up a leg knock against Newcastle. Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino has also conceded there “is no definite timeline” as to when Artur Boruc will return from a hand injury.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

Distin and Walcottas doubts in my team. Already used FT for Whittingham -> Sterling.

Got Walcott, Distin, Rooney flagged doubtful, Silva suspended and Gibbs ruled out.

Already used FT to bring Szczesny in for K.Davis

I have Silva benched along with two guys that may not start, so if I want 11 on the pitch I need to take hits.

      Gibbs > Kosc (long term)
Silva > Cazorla or Mata (1 week punt)

I would then probably just use the next FT to bring Silva back in. Didn't want to touch WC till Aguero was back.

What do you think? Current first XI is

      Szczesny

      Kompany Evans Distin(75%) Gibbs(Out)

      Walcott(75%) Hazard Januzaj

      Suarez Rooney(75%) Negredo

      Bench: Whittaker Pozuelo Silva(Susp)

      Nightmare!

I saw Trigg's HT on the January wildcard, what is the logic for keeping it as late as possible?

Surely we miss out of the massive price fluctuations (as the majority will use it the first week), where we can gain a lot of value - as most don't use TFPL (or understand the price mechanics of the game), also, your team is likely to be inferior to one which has used the wildcard?

      Can someone explain the logic?

      Thanks

Best to keep it till late IMO. More chance of getting it right and setting your team up for the rest of the season. Team value shouldn't be your priority now.

allows you to see how any early January signings fare
allows you to see what the template is and how it fares

Knowing who will have a League Cup Final DGW and who won't, though that's pretty much guaranteed to be both Manchester clubs now, plus players going on loan, new ones coming, the same reason people like to keep their WCs and not use them in GW3.

See below. A lot of rumour. Not helped by fact Big Sam was too busy for a presser.

I think he's fit. I'm just now worried that
          A) he 'reported' an injury as he missed training
          B) he's about to be sold
          C) he's still in Manchester

Bendtner would be the mother of all 1 week punts. Just think of the bragging rights if you put him in and he goes bananas. Especially if you skippered Dzeko the previous week. Donkey punt mania

What do you think the front 3 will be? My guess would be

          Walcott Cazorla Podolski

          Bendtner

really hard to tell but Pod is much more nailed on than bendtner as he can play either up top or out wide. and Pod has the potential to score well from either position

God I've said about three times already on last 2 pages.

He is not match fit and will not be risked v Cardiff, Wenger will give him 30 mins tops

I had 2 last night and got 5 now. I can't field 11 without a hit and even then I may only get 10 on.

Cup opponent this week is a beast too but he has Walcott, Flanagan, Ozil and others too

Am I the only one who thinks Ravel will play tomorrow??

David Gold has said he's ok and he's been taken out of the article mentioned above (assuming original error from the website)

      My team right now

      Cech (sou)
Terry (sou), Sagna (Car), Coleman (stk)
Barkley, Yaya (swa), Januzaj (Tot), Hazard
      Lukaku, Suarez (hul), Negredo

      Subs: Mutch, Clyne, Williams

1 FT, 2.6m in the bank.

I wanna bring in one of Podolski (dont know whom to take off) or Walcott (cant afford).
How should I go about it? Or is there someone else I could bring on instead of the 2 for the necessary differential.

        Chester, Brady, Silva.

        B) Chico -> Koscielny, Brady -> Mutch for -4
        C) Chico -> Palace defender, Brady -> Sterling for -4
