The silver lining brought about by Saturday’s 2-0 win at Cardiff was offset by yet another defensive cloud for Big Sam Allardyce. Already devoid of James Collins and Winston Reid at the heart of his back-four, the Hammers boss must make do without the services of James Tomkins for next weekend’s visit of Newcastle after the centre-half was sent packing against the Bluebirds.

Tomkins is set to serve a one-match ban for picking up a couple of yellow cards, then, and is one of five players out of next week’s action as a result of suspension. Tomkins’ team-mate Kevin Nolan will also miss facing his former club, as he completes a four-game suspension, whilst Newcastle’s Mathieu Debuchy skips the Upton Park showdown, with Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa looking set to deputise again at right-back for Alan Pardew’s side.

Southampton’s record signing Pablo Osvaldo in unable to face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light and United squad player Fabio will also be absent from the Gameweek 22 action as they each serve the last of respective three-match bans.

In our updated Suspension Tightrope, Villa’s Fabian Delph still leads the way on eight cautions – two more bookings before the second Sunday of April (Gameweek 34) and he’ll be looking at a suspension. Swansea’s Angel Rangel, West Brom’s Jonas Olsson and Villa’s Gabby Agbonlahor are now up to seven bookings apiece after incurring the referee’s wrath in Gameweek 21, whilst a quartet of north-east based protagonists also feature in our shake-up.

Newcastle midfield duo Yohan Cabaye and Cheick Tiote received their sixth cautions of the campaign in a bad-tempered affair against City at St James’ Park on Sunday, whilst Sunderland’s Phil Bardsley and Jack Colback are in the same boat after being booked in the Black Cats’ 4-1 rout of Fulham. City right-back Pablo Zabaleta also moved past the five-card count last weekend. We now have 23 players with six or more bookings to their name this term, with Villa’s tally of four players the most of any club.

Evenin all - can I get a RMWCT and see where the cracks are in this lot:

    Mannone - K Davies
    Kos - Coleman - Clyne - Chester - Parr
    Silva - Haz - Eriksen - Navas - 4.2 (Pozuelo for now)
    Suarez - Aguero - Sturridge

    Reasoning?
    1) Cheap as chips keeper - might do something about this in GW26 when Vito has it tough for a bit.
    2) Defence I think are the best cheap end options from the best defensive sides bar Chelsea (who are all very pricey bar Azpil who is no real threat going forward and rare BAPs)
    3) Mids are 2 keepers (Silva/Haz) followed by 2 that I'll like to change about with form/fixtures.
    4) Strikers are self explained - Giroud and Sturridge neck and neck for last spot

why not go with giroud? you have no arsenal cover other than a defender.

As I say its a tough call with him and Studge - and Ramsey will be one of those in the 7/8 million range that I'm going to swap in and out I think...thanks tho...

If you are going cheap as chips at GK, why not McGregor/Harper ? I like Giroud over Sturridge who always seems to be an injury worry.

If Studge breaks down Giroud is next - had him all early season with good results but I'm not sure he can go on forever, whereas Studge is fresh, hungry and no Euro footy to worry about...

So from skimming through the posts it appears at there could be a blank GW26 (tube strike - Arsenal v Man Utd) and GW28 (League Cup fixture clash - Man Utd v Man City). Assuming that many people will have 3 Arsenal players and/or 3 Man City players, this does put the dampeners on Januzaj as a fifth mid (a continuation of Jonty's post).

    Assuming that you aim to spend less than 5mil for a fifth mid, then looking at the fixtures then it would probably be worth aiming to have one of;

    Everton - GW26 CPL GW28 WHU
McCarthy @ 4.9mil - Same price as Januzaj if you've had him since the beginning and has only missed 1 game and played less than 60mins twice. 4 assists so far this season. 4.9% Ownership

    Aston Villa - GW26 car GW28 NOR
Westwood @ 4.9mil - Only missed 3 games and showed potential last season with 7 assists, not quite there this season though with 1 goal 1 assist but could improved. 0.3% Ownership, the ultimate differential
Bacuna @ 4.4mil - Shown deadball potential but has been dropped from first XI a few times this season. 2.1% Ownership.

    Hull - GW26 SOT GW28 NEW
Huddlestone @ 4.9mil - All of his returns (2 goals 4 assists) have come in home games this season, only 3.9% ownership.
Livermore @ 4.6mil - 2 goals 1 assist at home this season, only missed 1 game this season. 2.8% Ownership.

    Swansea - GW26 sto GW28 CPL
Routledge @ 4.9mil and Pozelu @ 4.2mil are both options but have struggled to nail down regular starting roles, however injuries may improve their potential. 2 and 3 assists this season.

    Any other suggestions welcome
