Our Gameweek regular for members is rolled out once again ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Liverpool’s trip to West Brom sees Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge place highly in the Captain Poll, whilst United’s visit to Stoke also supplies our analysis with a couple of popular contenders. Arsenal’s home game against Palace also comes into the reckoning, whilst we also unmask this week’s “Captain Unsensible” and cite the statistics to back up our bold punt:

Honestly, Rooney has to occupy the No.10 role. Mata to play on either wing. Thoughts?

True. Since there's no way Rooney will play on the flanks, Mata will definitely be deployed to a wider role, which is something he was doing at Chelsea this season. Let's see how will do with United this time round, though. Safest bet, anyway: van Persie.

Not sure at all. Mata is not at his best on the wing, I guess.

    Should I start:

    A) Marshall (home against Norwich)
    or
    B) Mannone (away against Newcastle)?

It's hard to see Cardiff keeping a clean-sheet, plus Mannone is on great form. Not to mention Newcastle will be without their main strikers due to injury. Still, I still always lean towards the home factor.

I almost wanted to pretend that Norwich don't score goals away but it seems they still might. Think I'll have to go with the popular vote and pick Marshall still, although I'm guessing WALL-E's prediction of me getting it wrong will prove fairly accurate....

I'd downgrade Kompany to, say, Azpi, and strengthen your bench, mate. Otherwise it looks good, just keep an eye on City's rotation, with Dzeko likely to share his minutes with Jovetic and Negredo.

So all of a sudden, you'd think Jovetic would get his first EPL start since September against a full strength Chelsea team?

I don't know why people are thinking this either. Negredo was clearly rested against Spurs as the Chelsea game is more important. He will play most/all of the game with Dzeko starting and making way for Jovetic 60 minutes in based on how the game is going.

    Afternoon Gentlemen,

Ok, so let's assume that Aguero doesn't make a return until 2nd march as suggested by physioroom; the earliest time he will be available in FPL terms is gameweek 29 and even that may change.

If you're not looking for a replacement from Man City, then from a fixtures perspective - Aston Villa, Tottenham, Swansea, Southampton, Cardiff, West Ham and Hull all look to have pretty good fixtures during this period. In addition, Southampton and Cardiff benefit from a decent fixture this week, which could help ease the blow for anyone taking a hit to get him out.

I've used the members area fantasy index to look at the potential of players from these teams/minute, and the following stand out for their respective clubs:

    1. Aston Villa - Benteke
    2. West Ham - cole
    3. Tottenham - Adebayor
    4. Swansea - Bony
    5. Southampton - Rodriguez
    6. Hull - Jelavic
    7. Cardiff - Bellamy

It's worth mentioning that the fantasy index stats/minute for Dzeko and Nedgredo are only marginally better than Benteke, but they are also likely to suffer at the hands of rotation, play Chelsea this week and miss out in gameweek 29. However, they do have three home games in the next four.

The question for me therefore is:

    Benteke OR Dzeko?

Yes, and I can understand why. Big hitter out, big hitter in; I just don't think it will pay off for RVP @ 13.6M, or a slighly injured Rooney playing a bit deeper @ 11.3M.

So i'm thinking about playing Gnabry and benching Hazard. Gnabry's been playing well and has a decent fixture, whereas Hazard has a terrible fixture.

Hazard has played top 6 teams 8 times this season and returned 1 goal. I forsee another blank, whereas Gnabry is looking like he'll get some attacking returns.

    Crazy?

Any think there is any reason why Giroud wouldn't start this gw? Probably going to do Aguero to Giroud for -4. Has the most explosive fixture for me

Palace isn't exactly a pushover though are they? Conceded 2 away to spurs, 1 away to City.

I totally get that they have improved a lot, but for a home game for Arsenal I would expect at least a couple of Arsenal goals. Whereas for Man Utd at Stoke for example, I can see them not scoring at all possibly.

Robin Van Persie has come home to daddy. It feels right seeing him in my squad! My man crush with the big Dutchman has been rekindled.

From leaning towards Benteke yesterday as an Aguero replacement I think that Dzeko at that bargain price has to be worth it, Can then beef up team elsewhere.

will only take a few transfers. might be worth it over a month of playing with a couple of big hitters 😉

Is he really guaranteed over the next month though? They could easily start with Negredo and Jovetic or just Negredo at any time.

Reposting as buried on last page:

So i'm thinking about playing Gnabry and benching Hazard. Gnabry's been playing well and has a decent fixture, whereas Hazard has a terrible fixture.

Hazard has played top 6 teams 8 times this season and returned 1 goal. I forsee another blank, whereas Gnabry is looking like he'll get some attacking returns.

    Crazy?

I'm benchinh Hazard this week, though my options are a bit more robust without Aguero

gnabry never seem to get 90'
i'd be frustrated to see him replaced after 60-70'
city attacking team... i remember that 6-3 vs ars
good chance for che to score.
if haz score points and u have him on the bench, then big blow for u, given haz ownership %

if u need to take risks, might be worth, but I'd say it's extreme.

This is my thinking. But, as its an away game and the fact City will probably score more than Chelsea - Hazard would not be awarded bonus points as say Giroud if he scores v Palace at home.

    Best replacement for Agüero?

    Sturridge or Rooney?

    Have Suárez and Mata...

RVP is RVP and we know what he's capable of. I wouldn't have regrets over bringing him.

Problem is only the price, but in a configuration of Oscar, Aguero -> RVP and Lallana, it is irresistible.

It's bigger than you. You know it!

That's not a bad move at all.

I agree, it's next week when I really want RVP. I think I might hold out for a week.
