The Gameweek begins with a storming encounter. The Tyne-Wear derby has a reputation for goals, gaffs and red cards – ingredients that almost guarantee a dramatic opening to our Fantasy Football weekend. For once, there’s also a fixture running alongside it, as West Ham take on Swansea at Upton Park in what promises to be a tense affair for very different reasons.

From a player perspective, our investment in today’s early kick-offs is somewhat with limited. Some will undoubtedly be pinning colours to Adam Johnson’s mast, while Vito Mannone will also have his fair share of backers. As for West Ham and Swansea, again there’s unlikely to be too much on show to rouse the interest of Fantasy managers, aside from those Wilfred Bony owners, still licking wounds from Tuesday’s blank.

In the main, today’s openers are for the neutral, enabling us to sit back and enjoy 90 minutes before the five three o’clock kick-offs come knocking.

As always, you can look to our Twitter feed for news of today’s lineups, while our Dugout Discussion chatroom is now open to welcome your real-time reactions.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

If one is unavailable neither are great picks, if both are, both are.

As much as the Carroll pick is a good one, let's remember he hasn't scored yet. And West Ham and Nolan aren't going to score two goals every game to make the assists worth it. Needs a goal.

Carroll's stats are still pretty impressive given the little time he's played. 3 assists in 166 minutes, and 7.6 points per 90 minutes. That's already excellent value.

I can see certain teams folding under aerial bombardment - Southampton are one of them with Yoshida in the air, and they collapsed against Chelsea once they started playing 19th century football. So that might be three great fixtures coming up.

Yup, Yoshida vs Carroll doesn't fill me with confidence. That being said, Carroll isn't the most mobile so Pochettino may gamble on the walking car crash that is Hooiveld.

Am I the only one who think Hull might be in trouble.

The nice home games have almost run out, they're conceeding a lot more chances. Are Long and Jelavic the men to score the goals to keep them up?
