With Chelsea’s win at the Etihad bringing Gameweek 24 to its conclusion, we delve into the data once again. Stoke’s midfield goal hero, West Ham’s target man, United’s fit-again frontmen and the knock-on effect Liverpool’s downturn in possession has had on a certain Uruguayan all come under our analysis this time around:

    i have a front 8 of

    januzaj ozil hazard lallana mirralas
    dzeko sturridge suarez

would you guys recomend januzaj to yaya for a -4? i will bench ozil in that case.
they way i look at it is that with the blank coming up i need to get rid of januzaj as even if he is guarenteed a game in 29 he is far from guarenteed to play it.
but should i wait for the fixtures to get clear and get a replacement that will play both 28 and 29? or try to cash in to yayas 3 great fixtures and then bench/sell yaya when 28 comes around.

Don't sell Januzaj for a hit, better to swap Ozil for yaya.

in that case, you'd have a benching dilemma every week.

I'd rather do what Timbo just said, and shift out Ozil for Yaya. Keep Januzaj as your fifth mid. Tough fixtures ahead for Ozil, and he hasn't much to justify that price tag.

    Current team:

    Mannone
    Ward Yoshida Azpi
    Mata Yaya Haz Punch
    Suarez Sturridge Bony

    Subs: Evans Kos Noone

£3.9m in the bank, options are:

A – Evans to Cahill/Ivan (bench one of Yosh or Ward)
B – Bony to JRod (or other suggestions)
    C – Save

Quite like the sound of B. Don't think you need to double up on CHE defence yet.

I might play Noone over Puncheon with the Swansea news, gonna be an interesting derby.

Good idea to double up on Southampton attack with Jrod & Lallana? Or JRod sufficient?

My midfield has some crap players and want to change it up abit. Regret the HBA punt. Thoughts? Willing to take a hit

    Ozil* - Hazard - Mata - HBA* - Pozuelo
    Dzeko JRod Suarez

I might actually keep HBA (benched this week) to have another decent non United/City/AJ mid for blank 28, and do Pozuelo > Lallana.

Might keep Ozil for another week. Thoughts on this plan?

That makes sense. I was thinking of downgrading Eriksen because I don't have anyone in my front eight who I can easily bench but I'm going to hold because I'll need him for that gameweek.

I've been doubled up on them for a few weeks and it's been good. They are both scoring points and have a good run of games. Same as the argument for SAS. Doesn't matter if they are the same team as long as they are scoring.

    Hey chaps!

Bit stuck here. Got Januzaj and Lucas, plus about 3.3 cash in the bank, and want to start shipping out around the edges of my non-regulars with a view to delivering GW28 returns (making no transfer that week to make way for Aguero back in before GW31).

    Mannone (Szczesny)
    Ward Coleman Terry (Mert Turner)
    Mata Hazard Yaya Januzaj* Lucas*
    Suarez JRod Giroud

So what to do for this round?
    (a) Hold off this week, play Januzaj. Mert off bench. Bank transfer
    (b) Start Mert. Bank transfer
    (c) Mirallas in (for one of Janu or Lucas).
    (d) Sissoko in (for one of Janu or Lucas).

Is that right? Good job I asked then. I just look at that Newcastle midfield and wonder where the quality's going to come from.

He had a good start to life at Newcastle when he was played as a marauding midfielder, sort of like Yaya's role. But this season he's been played on the wings.

He's no winger that's for sure. In terms of potential, it has to be Ben Arfa. I went for the Ben Arfa punt myself, but Newcastle are really struggling at the moment. I'm keeping HBA in hopes that when Gouffran and Remy are fit, he should do better.

Have we missed the Lallana train?

3 goals and 2 assists in 4 games in superb, but can it continue.

A quick look at the underlying stats suggest perhaps not....over those 4 games:

Goal attempts in the box 4 - shots on target 5 - goals 3 = expect regression

    Chances created 3 - assists 2 = expect regression

I think I may have done. The problem for me is that I want to spend only three transfers in the next four rounds, and can't afford another mid with a decent shot at GW38 if I grab Lallana now. Having grabbed the Rambo train at the first sniff of a goal though I can't complain about missing the Lallana and AJ successes.

That's reassuring considering I hopped on board the SSJRod last week in my WC...

I wanted Lallana but I am convinced JRod performs better away from home and So'ton had 4 away games in 6 as of last week... and I needed the differential aspect too...

Before last weekend, Lallana had only scored 17 attacking points in away games... JRod had scored 38...

Lallana outscored him again this week... but I'm still hopeful JRod will gain some of those points back...

Id go with Kos just coz if the unlikely happens and Arsenal keep Liv out that will be a smug grin and a green arrow with all the Saurez captainers out there

Normally the assistant manager/coach takes over but in this instance its a player! the fact that there is an apparent rift between the british players and the spanish players (where Monk was the leader of the Brits) I suspect this team is eating itself from within.

      Hey Zep.

In regards to Ivan/Cahill I personally have gone for Cahill, more bps and more goal threat.

I would play Kos first on the bench. I went for the Mannone/Marshall gk combo and over the last few weeks it's made me very aware of how bad Cardiff are defensively. Arsenal are more likely to keep a cleanie I'd say.

Who to captain out of Mata and Hazard? Both are playing teams with very low form and morale. Eveything at Man Utd goes through Mata so you can expect at least an assist or two.
Hazard is an explosive flat track bully so he will score either 3 or 15 points

Yep, good move but be prepared if he doesn't start. He will get 30 min if he doesn't though, and can still score.

Plus you have to keep in mind the next 2 after this GW as well. At that price range, got to be Bony > Dzeko / JRod / Lambert.

    Bench One

    Yaya, Mata, Llallana, Hazard, Erikson.

    Dzeko, Benteke, Suarez

Currently 50/50 between Llallana (stoke) / Erikson (Everton)

Though the crazy voice just says bench Suarez.

Outch, kinda the same situation as me. I would bench Erikson. I can see that game being 1-1 - pauliniho and Osman goals.

I'm having a real difficult time deciding what combination looks best.

    A) Yaya + Rodriguez

    B) Lallana + Dzeko

    Thoughts and reasons lads?

A is more safe.. both are nailed on. Still not sure about Dzeko gametime, will he be rested in PL to play cups? Or will Negredo be rested, still not 100% fit. Jovetic is in the mix.
Tho, it wouldnt be the worst thing if Dzeko got benched considering his pricetag..

Jrod or Lallana is 50/50, but Yaya is the better option

Hoping Dzeko will play the next 3 games, almost 90 minutes each game?
Lets put it this way, if I (somehow) KNEW he was playing.. I would go for B.
But its just so unsure, so A woud be my option tbh

Wouldn't be too hopefully on 90minutes each game. 30 90 60 over the next 3, no particular order in which game he gets 30 90 or 60.

If you'd prefer certainty, definitely A. But if you want a more "explosive" score, B.

He might want to take his ML situation into consideration as well.

A staggering 40 points away from first, in second place.

Bite the bullet and take a risk with Dzeko and Lallana then?

40 points is nothing. I'm 130 points behind my leader. Am 4th.

Was level on points with 2nd and 3rd in GW22, am now suddenly 50 points behind after 2 shockers of gameweeks. You can wipe out 40 points in 2 gameweeks.

Yes would take the risk. Who does your ML leader have?

40 points is definitely achievable. Im chasing down someone who a few weeks ago was 75 points clear. TThe gap is now around 10

A for certain. If you can afford Yaya and Lambert (no idea on prices), do that.

I was thinking that A is the more solid option. With Rodriguez, I never have to worry about transferring him out unless he's injured. Bloody consistent too.

Dzeko invariably warrants a transfer out.

Baines on Toast, I'm thinking about Lambert too, but Rodriguez seems a little more advanced and more of a target man for some reason , while Lamberts doing a lot of the playmaking sorta. Do I have this absolutely wrong?

I think you've nailed it. Lambert doesn't have the legs to power through a defense. JRod does that while Lallana makes the clever runs/passes.

JRod will be a safer pick for the longer term. Dzeko is always a ? and a risk. But imo, you'd want a striker from City, not a midfielder. If City continues to play with 2 up front, the strikers will claim majority of the attacking points. Yaya might chip in with an assist, maybe a PK or free kick, but the strikers are where the golds at.

Tough call, but still B edges it primarily because of the next 3 games.

Cheers. That's quite the sensible selection I think.

Fingers crossed Dzeko gets the next 3 at least. Thanks Shifty.

No worries. I might be biased though, owner of JRod and Dzeko here.

95% getting Lallana as well 😯 won't be surprised if Lallana stops producing immediately 😆
