With Chelsea’s win at the Etihad bringing Gameweek 24 to its conclusion, we delve into the data once again. Stoke’s midfield goal hero, West Ham’s target man, United’s fit-again frontmen and the knock-on effect Liverpool’s downturn in possession has had on a certain Uruguayan all come under our analysis this time around:
-
i have a front 8 of
januzaj ozil hazard lallana mirralas
dzeko sturridge suarez
would you guys recomend januzaj to yaya for a -4? i will bench ozil in that case.
they way i look at it is that with the blank coming up i need to get rid of januzaj as even if he is guarenteed a game in 29 he is far from guarenteed to play it.
but should i wait for the fixtures to get clear and get a replacement that will play both 28 and 29? or try to cash in to yayas 3 great fixtures and then bench/sell yaya when 28 comes around.Open Controls-
in that case, you'd have a benching dilemma every week.
I'd rather do what Timbo just said, and shift out Ozil for Yaya. Keep Januzaj as your fifth mid. Tough fixtures ahead for Ozil, and he hasn't much to justify that price tag.Open Controls

Current team:
Mannone
Ward Yoshida Azpi
Mata Yaya Haz Punch
Suarez Sturridge Bony
Subs: Evans Kos Noone
£3.9m in the bank, options are:
A – Evans to Cahill/Ivan (bench one of Yosh or Ward)
B – Bony to JRod (or other suggestions)

this WE, would you guys captain
A- Rooney
B- Suarez

Good idea to double up on Southampton attack with Jrod & Lallana? Or JRod sufficient?
My midfield has some crap players and want to change it up abit. Regret the HBA punt. Thoughts? Willing to take a hit
Ozil* - Hazard - Mata - HBA* - Pozuelo
Dzeko JRod SuarezOpen Controls-
HBA to Lallana looks good to me
Open Controls -
Dunno if it helps but I've got both and I'm more than happy about it. Have a look at their fixtures.
Open Controls-
Their fixtures are what's making me consider the double up. Opinion on Pozuelo > Lallana and keep HBA (benched this week), so as to have another decent midfield body for the blank 28?
Open Controls-
That makes sense. I was thinking of downgrading Eriksen because I don't have anyone in my front eight who I can easily bench but I'm going to hold because I'll need him for that gameweek.
Open Controls-
Would just bench Eriksen and just take any benched points on the chin 🙂
Open Controls

I've been doubled up on them for a few weeks and it's been good. They are both scoring points and have a good run of games. Same as the argument for SAS. Doesn't matter if they are the same team as long as they are scoring.
Open Controls -
Saints are in great form and have a fantastic run of fixtures. I see no problem in doubling up.
Open Controls-
Yup, the fixtures are attracting me. Thoughts on Pozuelo > Lallana (instead of shifting HBA), so that I can have another decent mid for the blank 28? Have 7.6 in the bank 😯
Open Controls-
Nothing wrong with having a bit 8 imo. Snodgrass in my 5th mid at the moment but thats mainly because of the upcoming blanks.

If I were you this week, I would do Pozuelo to Lallana or Willian this week for a free!

10/11 players playing @ home this round. Wish I had RVP in there as well.
Open Controls-
Exactly the same as me, only away player is yaya. A little worried I don't have Rooney or rvp but hopefully mata will do the business v Fulham.
Open Controls-
Only Mata for me as well.. No Rooney should be OK, more worried about RVP.
Open Controls

-
Me too...
I have 10/11 at home, and still I'm considering captaining the guy who's playing away... 😯Open Controls-
I am as well! Who's your (c) Zep?
Open Controls-
My captaincy selections have caused quite a stir today...
It's on Yaya right now... but no longer than 2 hours ago it was on Mannone... 😀
I will probably just end up captaining Suarez...Open Controls-
For the first time - I think it's time to captain Yaya. Last time I thought about it, but changed to Suarez - Yaya scored 13 pts and Suarez 5.

Rvp captain for me.

Hey chaps!
Bit stuck here. Got Januzaj and Lucas, plus about 3.3 cash in the bank, and want to start shipping out around the edges of my non-regulars with a view to delivering GW28 returns (making no transfer that week to make way for Aguero back in before GW31).
Mannone (Szczesny)
Ward Coleman Terry (Mert Turner)
Mata Hazard Yaya Januzaj* Lucas*
Suarez JRod Giroud
So what to do for this round?
(a) Hold off this week, play Januzaj. Mert off bench. Bank transfer
(b) Start Mert. Bank transfer
(c) Mirallas in (for one of Janu or Lucas).
(d) Sissoko in (for one of Janu or Lucas).
(e) OtherOpen Controls-
C but Mirallas or Lallana for Januzaj.
Definitely not Sissoko. Horrible footballer.Open Controls-
Is that right? Good job I asked then. I just look at that Newcastle midfield and wonder where the quality's going to come from.
Did he not have a bit of a corker of a second half to last season, or is that just my memory?Open Controls-
He had a good start to life at Newcastle when he was played as a marauding midfielder, sort of like Yaya's role. But this season he's been played on the wings.
He's no winger that's for sure. In terms of potential, it has to be Ben Arfa. I went for the Ben Arfa punt myself, but Newcastle are really struggling at the moment. I'm keeping HBA in hopes that when Gouffran and Remy are fit, he should do better.Open Controls

Chester and merte to Azpi and Ivan for a hit? Rest of defence is Reid, ward and Bardsley
Looks decent but chelski conceding would really sting :sOpen Controls-
Hmm too much invested imo. But if you can afford it, why not?

Should I go ahead?Open Controls -
Have we missed the Lallana train?
3 goals and 2 assists in 4 games in superb, but can it continue.
A quick look at the underlying stats suggest perhaps not....over those 4 games:
Goal attempts in the box 4 - shots on target 5 - goals 3 = expect regression
Chances created 3 - assists 2 = expect regressionOpen Controls-
Regression is overrated. 😉
Ramsey & Yaya prove that.Open Controls -
Expect an increase in those stats imo
Open Controls -
I think I may have done. The problem for me is that I want to spend only three transfers in the next four rounds, and can't afford another mid with a decent shot at GW38 if I grab Lallana now. Having grabbed the Rambo train at the first sniff of a goal though I can't complain about missing the Lallana and AJ successes.
Open Controls -
Perhaps a little but like toure and ransey earlier in the season you have to factor their confidence form and quality of their output which is sky high for lallana right now
Open Controls -
That's reassuring considering I hopped on board the SSJRod last week in my WC...
I wanted Lallana but I am convinced JRod performs better away from home and So'ton had 4 away games in 6 as of last week... and I needed the differential aspect too...
Before last weekend, Lallana had only scored 17 attacking points in away games... JRod had scored 38...
Lallana outscored him again this week... but I'm still hopeful JRod will gain some of those points back...Open Controls

Most likely playing Ivan/Cahill* Evans Ward in defence this week...
Would you have Kos(liv) or Fabio(swa) as first defensive sub if Evans doesn't make it?
*haven't decided which one to get yet...Open Controls-
Kosc imo.
Useful at corners. Pool have issues there.Open Controls -
Fabio just for the potential assist.
Open Controls -
Fabio would be my first sub. Somehow I doubt Laudrups departure will have a positive effect on Swansea, especially with Monk in charge.
Open Controls-
maybe its perception over reality but dont teams tend to do well the match after they sack the manager, i should know suporrting leeds 🙁
Id go with Kos just coz if the unlikely happens and Arsenal keep Liv out that will be a smug grin and a green arrow with all the Saurez captainers out thereOpen Controls-
Normally the assistant manager/coach takes over but in this instance its a player! the fact that there is an apparent rift between the british players and the spanish players (where Monk was the leader of the Brits) I suspect this team is eating itself from within.
Open Controls

Kos
Open Controls -
Kos probably
Open Controls -
Hey Zep.
In regards to Ivan/Cahill I personally have gone for Cahill, more bps and more goal threat.
I would play Kos first on the bench. I went for the Mannone/Marshall gk combo and over the last few weeks it's made me very aware of how bad Cardiff are defensively. Arsenal are more likely to keep a cleanie I'd say.Open Controls -
Kos.
I know they're away, but he owned Suarez first time round. And Cardiff dont seem capable of keeping a cleansheetOpen Controls
-
-
So anyone else just closing your eyes and hoping for the best with no man Utd this week?
Open Controls-
Mata will probably be my only rep.
Open Controls -
No as a mata of fact
Open Controls -
Yep.. It's not like any of them are owned with Suarez or Yaya levels of people. Won't hurt too much if they go crazy.
Open Controls -
Just Mata for me, and I'm thinking of ditching him for that Yaya fella next week.
Open Controls -
Just Mata for me as well, RVP takes up so much money and I wouldn't captain him very often over the next few games.
Hopefully Dzeko will beat his score this week at a third of the price!Open Controls-
Talked myself in to negredo over dzeko last week. Mistake in hindsight but who knows it could work out for the best
Open Controls

Does anyone else think Lambert will outscore J.Rod from now on?
Open Controls-
I think he will. Restored to his natural position up top with Osvaldo now gone, I don't see why Lambert wouldn't do better.
Open Controls -
Could go either way. I'm fence sitting on this one
Open Controls -
I don't.
Open Controls -
Possibly, and now with their prices similar, I would pick Lambert over JRod if deciding to bring one in.
Open Controls -
Osvaldo hardly played that much anyway.
Open Controls

Morning people. Would love some advice about this lot
Mannone (HUL)
Azpili(NEW) Clyne(STO) Ward(WBA)
Silva(nor) Mata(FUL) Hazard(NEW) Puncheon(WBA)
S&S(ARS) JRod(STO)
Subs:Marshall,Januzaj,Kosc,Chambers
FT already used,0.6 in bank
Plan is to get Zaha/Noone for Januzaj next gw!Open Controls-
Looks like a save to me.
Open Controls -
Great team, I'm also rotating Puncheon and Noone. Would recommend Zaha though if he starts.
Open Controls-
Thanks man, yup will monitor both Zaha/Noone this week
Open Controls
-
-
-
Which one to bench?
Koscielny (away to LIV)
Coleman (away to TOT)
Gabbidon (home to WBA)Open Controls -
-
Not worth a hit, if Chelsea get a clean sheet and arsenal don't you only break even anyway, totally pointless
Open Controls
-
Now I have him, do I keep negredo for next 3 and hope for the best or use an ft / hit to ship him out?
Open Controls-
Keep for sure. He'll be hot property soon
Open Controls-
I hope so champ, concerned about his fitness impacting form and minutes
I like that he is currently a differential but no good if he differentiating my team with 1pts whilst the main contenders plunder the pointsOpen Controls-
I wouldn't worry too much about this gw. A goal is a bonus but the main thing is more minutes under his belt and a couple weeks of training in time to explode against SUN/STO. I'm probably getting him next week
Open Controls
-
-

Who to captain out of Mata and Hazard? Both are playing teams with very low form and morale. Eveything at Man Utd goes through Mata so you can expect at least an assist or two.
Hazard is an explosive flat track bully so he will score either 3 or 15 pointsOpen Controls -
Arsenal had a really hard time getting through Fulham's defence, but everyone here seems to believe United will absolutely thrash them this weekend. I dont think they are that bad at parking the bus, are they?
Open Controls-
I wouldn't be surprised to see Man U grind out a much needed win as opposed to a smashing. That grinded win could easily come with an Rvp brace so a worthy captain choice, not so sure on Rooney or mata though
Open Controls
-
-
Bony owners, keeping or selling now with a new manager?
Open Controls-
Gotta keep him this gw surely. Cardiff look woeful in defence under Ole. Possible brace
Open Controls -
-
😯
Dzeko?Open Controls-
I was going to but I went jrod to get Rvp instead. Purely to cap him this week. I'm not exactly over the moon with that move but hey ho. I'm on a bad run of decisions at the mo.
Open Controls

We have to keep for CAR unless you have nothing else to do in your team. That said, do I have resounding faith that Gary Monk will inspire Wilfried into a memorable hatrick? Heck to the no'es.

Morning fantasy legends! how am i looking for this week?
Speroni
Cahill Azpi Chambers (Kosc Bennett)
Yaya, lallana, Hazard (C), Cazorla (Noone)
Suarez, Sturridge, JRodOpen Controls-
Not a fantasy legend here, but looking good imo.
Have a sneaky feeling Newcastle might finally get a goal if Gouffran's fit. They've missed him. I'm with you on Hazard(c)Open Controls

Benching dilemma this week.
AJ | Yaya | Hazard | Lallana | Mata
Dzeko | Suarez | Rooney
I can sense some points on my bench this weekendOpen Controls -
Right to captain Hazard over Rooney? Haz more central to his team right now, but sense United have more goals in them this week.
Open Controls-
Newcastle somehow always play well against Chelsea, I wouldnt go Hazard
Open Controls-
I've become very wary about captaining midfielders this season. RVP will outscore Rooney, but I can see Roon doing well too.
Open Controls-
depends where Rooney is deployed. If he is not used as a central mid, I think he can easily keep pace with RVP.
Open Controls-
Very good point. Stats for last week are similar, even when he moved back half way through the game. If United's CMs look to be fit it may be worth it.

goal and assist in the a 2-0 win at the bridge last season
Open Controls-
if you are so intent on previous seasons, we got beat 0-2 by two wonder strikes from Cisse last to last season.
Open Controls-
No I couldn't care less about previous seasons mate. You referred to Newcastle's success against Chelsea in recent games as the reason not to c the haz so thought it was relevant

He hasn't been in form in more than a year. I had him for a good bit of form earlier in the year but he still wasn't worth it.

Bony to dzeko for free worth it or save?
Open Controls -
Bench One
Yaya, Mata, Llallana, Hazard, Erikson.
Dzeko, Benteke, Suarez
Currently 50/50 between Llallana (stoke) / Erikson (Everton)
Though the crazy voice just says bench Suarez.Open Controls-
Wouldn't listen to the crazy voice.. Bench Eriksen.
Open Controls
-
-
I'm having a real difficult time deciding what combination looks best.
A) Yaya + Rodriguez
B) Lallana + Dzeko
Thoughts and reasons lads?Open Controls-
A is more safe.. both are nailed on. Still not sure about Dzeko gametime, will he be rested in PL to play cups? Or will Negredo be rested, still not 100% fit. Jovetic is in the mix.
Tho, it wouldnt be the worst thing if Dzeko got benched considering his pricetag..
Jrod or Lallana is 50/50, but Yaya is the better optionOpen Controls -
-
Hoping Dzeko will play the next 3 games, almost 90 minutes each game?
Lets put it this way, if I (somehow) KNEW he was playing.. I would go for B.
But its just so unsure, so A woud be my option tbhOpen Controls-
Wouldn't be too hopefully on 90minutes each game. 30 90 60 over the next 3, no particular order in which game he gets 30 90 or 60.
If you'd prefer certainty, definitely A. But if you want a more "explosive" score, B.
He might want to take his ML situation into consideration as well.Open Controls-
A staggering 40 points away from first, in second place.
Bite the bullet and take a risk with Dzeko and Lallana then?Open Controls-
40 points is nothing. I'm 130 points behind my leader. Am 4th.
Was level on points with 2nd and 3rd in GW22, am now suddenly 50 points behind after 2 shockers of gameweeks. You can wipe out 40 points in 2 gameweeks.
Yes would take the risk. Who does your ML leader have?Open Controls
-
-
-
-
-
A for certain. If you can afford Yaya and Lambert (no idea on prices), do that.
Open Controls-
I was thinking that A is the more solid option. With Rodriguez, I never have to worry about transferring him out unless he's injured. Bloody consistent too.
Dzeko invariably warrants a transfer out.
Baines on Toast, I'm thinking about Lambert too, but Rodriguez seems a little more advanced and more of a target man for some reason , while Lamberts doing a lot of the playmaking sorta. Do I have this absolutely wrong?Open Controls-
I think you've nailed it. Lambert doesn't have the legs to power through a defense. JRod does that while Lallana makes the clever runs/passes.
JRod will be a safer pick for the longer term. Dzeko is always a ? and a risk. But imo, you'd want a striker from City, not a midfielder. If City continues to play with 2 up front, the strikers will claim majority of the attacking points. Yaya might chip in with an assist, maybe a PK or free kick, but the strikers are where the golds at.
Tough call, but still B edges it primarily because of the next 3 games.Open Controls-
Cheers. That's quite the sensible selection I think.
Fingers crossed Dzeko gets the next 3 at least. Thanks Shifty.Open Controls
-
-
-
-
You save a bit of cash going Lalla + Dzeko. That tips the balance I think
