We delve into the data from the previous Gameweek and beyond in our assessment of the main midweek protagonists. Tottenham’s clinical marksman, Liverpool’s faltering frontman and a pair of Villains come under analysis this evening, as do United’s off-form forward, the Swans’ Spanish creator and Newcastle’s shooting displays, with the Magpies now failing to score in each of the last four:

Is there any way to measure highest average final ranking over the course of FPL seasons players have been part of? As in a "total score"? Guess not.

    Is this a worthwhile transfer?

    Distin, Terry -> Coleman, Azpi

    Reasoning:
    - Distin has been a constant disappointment
    - Terry is hurt and Azpi is gaining equivalent points and not old 😛
    - Coleman will explode in price when he gets going

    Factors:
    - Having 2 FT with the upcoming stretch of blanks; could be the equivalent of gold
    - Defence transfers are always lame
    - My team is in rough shape; as Mutch and Chester are also sidelined

Linking you team helps you get better informed advice, but Terry could be back by next week, and as you rightly pointed out you have more important issues with Mutch Chester

Don't really know. At least check out the FA cup and everything first. I'd also still get Ivanovic over Azpi. He's Coleman value. Distin is all right enough considering double gameweek coming up and all that. I'd definitely not do both.

You ideally want 11 out each week & good DGW cover for GW31.
Team would help & waiting for all these games to be played.
Chester is no use at all. Surprised anyone kept him with the Jan WC.

He got hurt after my wildcard. There was no use selling the player last on the bench and there was no real value to be lost.

I'm definitely waiting after the games are played; but wanted some early thoughts.

Looking for a bit of advice/inspiration.

My back line currently consists of:

Ivanovic, Kompany, Coleman, Mert and Ward.

I am considering upgrading JRod->Ade but I have to down grade one of the expensive backs to fund it. Which one would you sacrifice?

Mertesacker, by a fair margin. But not sure I would even do that transfer now. Probably a good idea to downgrade long term though.

I agree, but would you rather bin any of the others? I would not. Arsenal look like they are - in classical fashion - losing form towards the end of the season. I have more faith in Kompany, though he'd be next on the list.

Thanks guys, I was leaning towards Mertesacker, but I am in no rush. I could down grade my mids but I feel I have a nice solid unit at the moment with:

Don't downgrade a mid as you don't want to go 4-3-3. Your four mids are quality. If city has a double blank things will need to be reassessed obviously but as it stands if you want to get Ade a defender downgrade seems to be the way to go.

As such, if City are due a double blank downgrade Kompany. If they are not then I would think downgrading Mert would be preferable. A good problem to have mate, your team looks solid.

As sad as it is, I think Matic. He will be due a 2 pointer each game while you can't say the same about the other two you mentioned. Even though he is a CDM, I would rather risk him getting some cheeky assist or a goal from distance or something with guaranteed minutes on the pitch while the other two have so many question marks surrounding their respective pitch time.

Janu clearly relegated to the bench now and needs an injury to someone in front of him to regain his minutes. Spurs have so many capable midfield options as they continue to get healthier threatening Eriksen's spot. He was complete crap against Everton and Sherwood clearly took notice as he dropped him for the Newcastle game and they subsequently hung 4 on them. He has an uphill battle to regain his starting position at this point it seems.

I think it is hard to say at this point.

AVB bought him so Sherwood really has nothing to gain to force him to work out unless he genuinely feels he is their best option. Their mids are getting healthier and we can't be too sure right now who Sherwood views as his first choice.

Eriksen clearly has some quality about him but seems optimal for our game if he is playing in the #10 role which is far from certain and when he is not in that position he seems to go invisible for stretches of the game by my eye. I'd either be a nervous owner right now or not even considering him if I didn't already own him from an FPL standpoint.

😀 I understand, especially Noone, Mannone and Mirallas owners like me.

Luckily for Natster his concern are for those 4 teams only. 😛

Indeed. I have SaS, Haz and my back 3 are Kos, Ivan & Kolarov!

tbh, i'm hoping a City win, since i've no City attacker atm and 2 big CHE players.

And for the clash at Emirates, you should know which team i'm rooting for 😉

I have 2 big CHE players too and just 1 City, so City win would be good for my FPL team too.

For the Emirates clash, I'm surely on the opposite. 😉

I would be a little nervous about putting Remy on the wing but they had to have a formation of this type in mind when they transferred in De Jong so what do I know. They couldn't have looked worse since they lost Cabaye so why not? They need Colo back desperately.

Fantasy wise, the only player i'd consider is HBA, becaue he's a proven quality, explosive and peni duties. But atm he's not nailed on, out of form & we have a lot of other candidates in our midfield. Wish he's at a different team.

Of those, Gouffran......................... except I've just noticed FPL have him as a striker.

Really and truly is a tough one that. Surely Pool will put up 3+ at home but Sterling is such a supplemental piece of their offense and so dependent on service he could easily blank. JRod sort of the opposite regarding his influence on his team's attack but couldn't really imagine them putting any more than 2 past the Hammers at home. Hope you make the right call.

Ok. I had a look and this are my wishful FA CUP results on this weekend.

      > Sunderland to beat Southampton .. CPL vs SOU green to go on GW29
      > A cupset. Cardiff lost to Wigan .. CAR vs FUL to be played
      > Man City won over Chelsea .. CHE vs TOT to be played
      > Everton lost to Swansea .. NEW vs EVE to be played
      > Arsenal lost to Liverpool .. Just that I’m a pool supporter. 😉

How likely will it be -- x of 5 ?

Arsenal should lose this match for their own sake. Or at least play seriously second squad. If they give 70+ minutes to Öz and Groo, that tells just that they are determined to lose to Bayern.

And frankly, I think they have a chance against Bayern. Wenger is traditionally difficult to Pep, and Arsenal beat Ribéry-less Bayern last season. Victory in the first match, and they've got all chances.

Sunderland - Southampton, less likely. I can see Southampton aiming to win the Cup as their only chance to any title, and they're significantly better than Sunderland.

Everton lost to Swans... not. I wish that too, but unfortunately can't see it happening. Cardiff needs victories, probably will be difficult.

I think so that Arsenal should put Bayern on top of this week priority and try to win the first game. The line-up tomorrow should tell us more for how Wenger thinks.

I have not thought about Southampton's target, but I feel you are probably right here. The clash of City v Chelsea and Arsenal v Liverpool just make it better for Southampton's chance to trophy. They should field their strongest team and try to win.

I'm still being hopeful for the Swans to win probably by new manager's effect.

Cardiff ... You never know which Wigan will come to the field on any week. They can do anything.

All gut on this one but some options that come to mind at the moment are Nolan, Ince, Sterling, Zaha, Paulinho, Snoddy.

Nolan, Punch. Adam for short term fix. Just spend a bit and get Lallana or mirallas.

Glad to hear you have been on the up recently. I have sadly faced 3 straight reds...so hoping to reverse my recent form. The two postponed games completely destroyed my GW sadly. Oh well! Turn the page and look forward to next weekend 😉

Ya, my decision to go with no City cover and to hold on to Kosc really helped. I hade a huge boost in the rankings last couple of weeks. If i had done well the first month i would have surely had a really good rank now. Oh well, maybe next season.

      Evening gents

If Pool had a blank in GW29, would you keep Rooney or still ship for Sturridge?

      Next 5:

Rooney: cry, blank, wba, LIV, DGW

Sturridge: SWA, sou, blank, mun, TOT

Would you be able to use your transfer on each to avoid benching them? If Pool blank in 29 you will have to keep Suarez due to potential huge loss of value and seems a bad job to bench Sturr also. Can you transfer Rooney out in 28 for a lad and then transfer Sturr out in 29 for a different lad? Should be able to keep a 3-4-3 formation followed by a 4-4-2 for those weeks I reckon?

          Ship him for Studge.
