We delve into the data from the previous Gameweek and beyond in our assessment of the main midweek protagonists. Tottenham’s clinical marksman, Liverpool’s faltering frontman and a pair of Villains come under analysis this evening, as do United’s off-form forward, the Swans’ Spanish creator and Newcastle’s shooting displays, with the Magpies now failing to score in each of the last four:
Is there any way to measure highest average final ranking over the course of FPL seasons players have been part of? As in a "total score"? Guess not.
Open ControlsNot sure if you're talking about players on here? If so see HOF (Hall of Fame) on menu at top of page.
Open ControlsAh. Oh, yeah, but how do you enter it? Think I should be somewhere on that list I were registered, but you might have to be a member for that maybe?

Is this a worthwhile transfer?
Distin, Terry -> Coleman, Azpi
Reasoning:
- Distin has been a constant disappointment
- Terry is hurt and Azpi is gaining equivalent points and not old 😛
- Coleman will explode in price when he gets going
Factors:
- Having 2 FT with the upcoming stretch of blanks; could be the equivalent of gold
- Defence transfers are always lame
- My team is in rough shape; as Mutch and Chester are also sidelinedOpen ControlsYou ideally want 11 out each week & good DGW cover for GW31.
Team would help & waiting for all these games to be played.
Chester is no use at all. Surprised anyone kept him with the Jan WC.Open ControlsHe got hurt after my wildcard. There was no use selling the player last on the bench and there was no real value to be lost.
I'm definitely waiting after the games are played; but wanted some early thoughts.Open ControlsFair enough about Chester. You must be happy with your attacking 7.

Looking for a bit of advice/inspiration.
My back line currently consists of:
Ivanovic, Kompany, Coleman, Mert and Ward.
I am considering upgrading JRod->Ade but I have to down grade one of the expensive backs to fund it. Which one would you sacrifice?Open ControlsMertesacker, by a fair margin. But not sure I would even do that transfer now. Probably a good idea to downgrade long term though.
Open ControlsSunderland (H)
Stoke (A)
Swansea (H)
Would hardly say they're fixtures worth binning him forOpen ControlsI agree, but would you rather bin any of the others? I would not. Arsenal look like they are - in classical fashion - losing form towards the end of the season. I have more faith in Kompany, though he'd be next on the list.
Open Controls
They've all got good short term fixtures, but Arsenals will get tougher. Potentially downgrade a mid though as that's a strong back line
Open ControlsThanks guys, I was leaning towards Mertesacker, but I am in no rush. I could down grade my mids but I feel I have a nice solid unit at the moment with:
Haz, Lallana, Silva, Gerard and JWPOpen ControlsYou would recommend keeping the backline that strong?
Open ControlsDon't downgrade a mid as you don't want to go 4-3-3. Your four mids are quality. If city has a double blank things will need to be reassessed obviously but as it stands if you want to get Ade a defender downgrade seems to be the way to go.
As such, if City are due a double blank downgrade Kompany. If they are not then I would think downgrading Mert would be preferable. A good problem to have mate, your team looks solid.Open Controls
now this is DZ 😯
Open ControlsWow three hot topics this week 😎
Open ControlsChaps. Looking at a draft league trade. From these 3, who would you say has the most potential for points...
A) Januzaj
B) Matic
C) Eriksen
Cheers lads.Open ControlsEriksen if his place was nailed down.
Open ControlsLost a lot of faith in my draft team mate. I should have won that head to head if it wasn't for the weather. Eriksen can't hold down a place, Suarez not scoring, Ozil off the boil. Grr...
Open Controls
As sad as it is, I think Matic. He will be due a 2 pointer each game while you can't say the same about the other two you mentioned. Even though he is a CDM, I would rather risk him getting some cheeky assist or a goal from distance or something with guaranteed minutes on the pitch while the other two have so many question marks surrounding their respective pitch time.
Janu clearly relegated to the bench now and needs an injury to someone in front of him to regain his minutes. Spurs have so many capable midfield options as they continue to get healthier threatening Eriksen's spot. He was complete crap against Everton and Sherwood clearly took notice as he dropped him for the Newcastle game and they subsequently hung 4 on them. He has an uphill battle to regain his starting position at this point it seems.Open ControlsNice insight Walsh, thanks. Do you think Eriksen was just given a boot up the bum though? Generally, he is a quality player and has been decent.
Open ControlsI think it is hard to say at this point.
AVB bought him so Sherwood really has nothing to gain to force him to work out unless he genuinely feels he is their best option. Their mids are getting healthier and we can't be too sure right now who Sherwood views as his first choice.
Eriksen clearly has some quality about him but seems optimal for our game if he is playing in the #10 role which is far from certain and when he is not in that position he seems to go invisible for stretches of the game by my eye. I'd either be a nervous owner right now or not even considering him if I didn't already own him from an FPL standpoint.Open Controls

Total score of autosubs 26 😯 !!!!Open ControlsDid you C Suarez every time? That being said, C % is high, not many pts on the bench, and mid points cost on transfers. Nice Season! Are you between 1k-10k?

I used to captain Suarez everyweek because I refused to get Aguero when he ran riot and eveyone here had him.
Here is sub scores of Triggerlip in top 2k

Total score of unused subs 124
he even has lower score unused subs than mine but got more points off the bench. You need to be lucky to join top 5kOpen Controls
Hey guy. So I know it's never wise to take a hit for a defender but is Ivanovic worth -4. In first in my league but D line got me 0 points last week.
Currently: gabbidon brown Monreal clyne bradsleyOpen ControlsHe is a specialist in failure. I'm not,
Mourinho on WengerOpen ControlsI hope Everton have a match in Gw29. Them fixtures after the Chelsea game look tasty
Open Controlsthey should beat Swansea so blank is more likely
Open ControlsWell I hope Everton have an off day. This round of FA cup fixtures are crucial. I am counting on the Gary Monk effect
Open Controls
So, let's hope the new manager bring Swansea to another round of FA Cup.
Open Controls
Which are the players you are going to bench during the blank rather than sell them?
I am definitely benching Hazard and most probably SAS
I dont want to lose money on hazard as well as suarez and buy them back for more moneyOpen ControlsBench Suarez, Hazard and somebody else. I'd do Studge > Rvp. Dgw coming up. Not concerned at all, with value. No issues in buying back Studge for more after the Dgw
Open Controls
What if we get a draw from these two games on this weekend?
City vs Chelsea
Arsenal vs Liverpool
Does it mean we have to keep carrying our FT and can't plan the major part for GW29 yet?Open ControlsWe won't be able to plan properly until it is decided if the postponed games can be played midweek, for those not in CL/Europa.
Open Controlsthose = only Liverpool 😉
Open Controls🙂
The other games are somewhat important too 😉Open Controls😀 I understand, especially Noone, Mannone and Mirallas owners like me.
Luckily for Natster his concern are for those 4 teams only. 😛Open ControlsNot just those four I do concern, but I think our money are heavily invested on players from those four and our FPL points mainly came from players from those four.. 🙂
Open Controls
Navas likely to be benched vs Stoke due to Nasri being back? Need to decide whether to move him out this week or save the ft and do it next week.
Open ControlsI imagine Nasri will be eased back in.
Open Controls
Gouffran and Remy are back, Luuk DJ anyone? their fixtures are good and newcastle need goals right?
Open ControlsWill Luuk start now with Remy back? Do you think Pardew will run out the both of them and go 4-4-2?
Open Controlsgouffran - Luuk - remy ? that look promising to me
Open ControlsI would be a little nervous about putting Remy on the wing but they had to have a formation of this type in mind when they transferred in De Jong so what do I know. They couldn't have looked worse since they lost Cabaye so why not? They need Colo back desperately.
Open Controls
Avoid NEW imo. Still suffering from the trickle down effect after losing their best player.
Open ControlsWell yeah this is advisable, but it is still fun to speculate and think about what they will look like for the rest of the year 😉
Open ControlsI know 😀
Fantasy wise, the only player i'd consider is HBA, becaue he's a proven quality, explosive and peni duties. But atm he's not nailed on, out of form & we have a lot of other candidates in our midfield. Wish he's at a different team.Open Controls*because
*peno
😆Open ControlsB'Arfa! 😯 "The Taarabt of the North East"? Not for me ta.
Of those, Gouffran......................... except I've just noticed FPL have him as a striker.
OK so, No Newcastle unless B'Arfa starts playing as if he's a footballer of some reputation and skill again.Open Controls

How's it looking? Hoping to keep all my "blankers" and just hope my other XI all start.Open ControlsLooks really good Freddy. Only thing I would consider changing is Sterling v JRod. Gut call there - could have a reasonable argument for starting either. Definitely save your transfer. Hope there isn't a hurricane to feck up your GW 🙂
Open ControlsCheers Walshy! Hoping there are no major injury concerns after the cup... Sterling vs J.Rod is a tough call. May end up fielding the latter just in case West Ham concede, Rodriguez may very we'll be involved 😀
Open ControlsReally and truly is a tough one that. Surely Pool will put up 3+ at home but Sterling is such a supplemental piece of their offense and so dependent on service he could easily blank. JRod sort of the opposite regarding his influence on his team's attack but couldn't really imagine them putting any more than 2 past the Hammers at home. Hope you make the right call.

Strikers/Forwards against Newcastle in recent games
GW24 Borini 11 pts
GW25 Hazard 21 pts, Eto'o 10 pts
GW26 Ade 16 pts
Next up for Newcastle is Aston Villa.
Now we know who to get for GW27...Open ControlsJust as well I already have him 😉
Open ControlsI went for Ade this week 🙁
Open Controls
*games that remy miss
Open ControlsMaybe he can change the complexion of the game a bit, but they still concede.
Open Controls
Weimann will return to starting this GW then.
Very cheap @5.8m. 🙂Open ControlsWas a massive differential last year, when everybody went with the Beast. Risk it if you want.
Open ControlsHave you any idea how he has played in the last few NABIL? I've not seen the games.
Open ControlsMe neither. Never played the full 90 minutes in the last 4, and only a sub in the last game. I'd avoid.
Open ControlsBut I can recall he forced a great save from Marshall. So he's taking a fair amount of shots like usual 😛
Open ControlsI think I'll swerve him, got him in after his injury (the first one) and wasted a valuable striker spot for a number of weeks, which started the rot for my season.
I blame Benteke. 😡Open Controls
evening DZ, does anyone knoe when the Sunderland game will be replayed?
Open ControlsOnly news we have on replays from last week's two postponed are that Everton expect to announce their replay with Palace this coming week.
Open Controls
Ok. I had a look and this are my wishful FA CUP results on this weekend.
> Sunderland to beat Southampton .. CPL vs SOU green to go on GW29
> A cupset. Cardiff lost to Wigan .. CAR vs FUL to be played
> Man City won over Chelsea .. CHE vs TOT to be played
> Everton lost to Swansea .. NEW vs EVE to be played
> Arsenal lost to Liverpool .. Just that I’m a pool supporter. 😉
How likely will it be -- x of 5 ?Open ControlsSunderland beating Southampton and Swansea beating Everton seem unlikely from that lot
Open ControlsYou missed the BIG one. Who for that?
Open ControlsCity to beat Chelsea
Pool to beat Arsenal or at least draw. Don't see an Arsenal win here with eyes on Europe midweekOpen Controls
All are likely to happen, except the last one 😉
On a serious note, all results you mention are favourable to most FPL players - i'm sure not all will happen. I hope you're right on every occasion except for the first (Mannone owner and no Soton) and last prediction (SaS here!).Open ControlsArsenal should lose this match for their own sake. Or at least play seriously second squad. If they give 70+ minutes to Öz and Groo, that tells just that they are determined to lose to Bayern.
And frankly, I think they have a chance against Bayern. Wenger is traditionally difficult to Pep, and Arsenal beat Ribéry-less Bayern last season. Victory in the first match, and they've got all chances.
Sunderland - Southampton, less likely. I can see Southampton aiming to win the Cup as their only chance to any title, and they're significantly better than Sunderland.
Everton lost to Swans... not. I wish that too, but unfortunately can't see it happening. Cardiff needs victories, probably will be difficult.Open ControlsI think so that Arsenal should put Bayern on top of this week priority and try to win the first game. The line-up tomorrow should tell us more for how Wenger thinks.
I have not thought about Southampton's target, but I feel you are probably right here. The clash of City v Chelsea and Arsenal v Liverpool just make it better for Southampton's chance to trophy. They should field their strongest team and try to win.
I'm still being hopeful for the Swans to win probably by new manager's effect.
Cardiff ... You never know which Wigan will come to the field on any week. They can do anything.Open Controls
Nolan, Punch. Adam for short term fix. Just spend a bit and get Lallana or mirallas.
Open Controls
Ya..i can see that..i was up a little earlier today..4 hours ago..and just a page has moved.
I am good.Hoping to continue my recent form. You?Open ControlsGlad to hear you have been on the up recently. I have sadly faced 3 straight reds...so hoping to reverse my recent form. The two postponed games completely destroyed my GW sadly. Oh well! Turn the page and look forward to next weekend 😉
Open ControlsYa, my decision to go with no City cover and to hold on to Kosc really helped. I hade a huge boost in the rankings last couple of weeks. If i had done well the first month i would have surely had a really good rank now. Oh well, maybe next season.

Evening gents
If Pool had a blank in GW29, would you keep Rooney or still ship for Sturridge?
Next 5:
Rooney: cry, blank, wba, LIV, DGW
Sturridge: SWA, sou, blank, mun, TOTOpen ControlsCheers, I just feel the second I sell Rooney he's gunna bang in a brace..
Open Controls
Would you be able to use your transfer on each to avoid benching them? If Pool blank in 29 you will have to keep Suarez due to potential huge loss of value and seems a bad job to bench Sturr also. Can you transfer Rooney out in 28 for a lad and then transfer Sturr out in 29 for a different lad? Should be able to keep a 3-4-3 formation followed by a 4-4-2 for those weeks I reckon?
Open ControlsTBH Acqua I'd get rid of Rooney if Utd had the only game that week home to Fulham.
Open ControlsOK, maybe that was the tiniest of exaggerations, but you get my drift.
