Having announced a couple of new cup competitions last week, we thought we’d give you another heads-up as the weekend’s deadline edges closer. Not only do we have the ninth instalment of our open-to-all cup competition, as sponsored by Paddy Power, we also have the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup IV up and running over the season run-in:

If you’re familiar with our competitions you can get your entries in right now via the links below. If you’re new to all this, read on for an FAQ on the competitions.

Enter the Paddy Power IX Cup via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup IV via this entry form.

Are there prizes?

As mentioned, Paddy are supplying the competition with some great prizes and, once again, we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX is as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the top scoring manager from each round will win a £25 free bet from Paddy Power on supply of their Paddy Power username.

For the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup IV, the prizes are:

Winner – £200 Amazon voucher.
Runner-up – £100 Amazon voucher

How do the cup competitions work?

Our cup competitions are very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s (FPL) Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall standings will progress.

When do they start?

The qualifying rounds for both cups will take place in Gameweek 27 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Monday February 24 will be entered into the qualifying rounds. In the Paddy Power XI cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1016 (plus eight previous winners who will earn a bye, if entered) with the top scores in Gameweek 27 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 28. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions. The same rules apply in the Members Cup, although we will restrict this to 512 teams in the first round.

How do I enter?

You can enter the Paddy Power IX Cup via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup IV via this entry form.

In both cases you will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team id at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming.

You can check that you are entered the Paddy Power IX Cup via this list and this list for the Members Cup.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying rounds of both cups will be published on or around Tuesday February 25 and then weekly from that point on.

What is the Gameweek Schedule?

These Cup competitions will be played out according to the following Gameweek schedule

Paddy Power Cup XI Round Dates

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 27
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 28
  • Gameweek 29 Skipped Due to Potential Blanks
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 30
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 31
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 32

  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 34
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 35
  • Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 36
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 37
  • Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 38

FFS Members Cup Round Dates

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 27
  • Round 1 – 512 teams – Gameweek 28
  • Gameweek 29 Skipped Due to Potential Blanks
  • Round 2 – 256 teams – Gameweek 30
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 31
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 32
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 33
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 34
  • Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 35
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 36
  • Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 37

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round of both cups will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record you entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFS username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter (although it is for the Members Cup) – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament.

    I have this team

    Adrian Davis
    AZPI Gabbi Coleman Kosc Bruce
    HAZARD MATA NOONE Eriksen Cazorla
    Suarez Sturridge Dzeko

So it puts me only 4 player (+3 FT from here til GW 29) for THAT week.

Thinking of doing Dzeko to Ade next week,
and possibly a defender to Evra on GW 29.

Now for this week.. is Eriksen to Lallana to sideways?

Too much of rotation for them... Dzeko may start one match whereas Negredo will start another, so not really a DGW for them

if hull and brighton werent allowed to replay on the CL nights due to UEFA rules, surely the PL games will not be allowed during the CL nights and therefore no chance of them being replayed within GW 29

Trying to maximize the points for GW 29 with 3-4 transfers. Willing to drop anyone except Suarez.

    Mannone I Adrien(still might play gw 29)

    AZPI I CHAMBERS I WARD I kosc I coleman

    HAZARD I LALLANA I MATA I gnarby I yaya

ADE I suarez I sturridge 1.7 in the bank 1FT

My plan on paper should be smth like:

    prior GW 27 ---- save
prior GW 28 ---- Yaya --->??? (Oscar maybe)
prior GW 29 ----- stu ----> RVP and Kosc ----> MOlsson

any other suggestions r greatly appreciated. Playing GW 29 players in capital letters. Cheers

Not necessarily, I'll wait until nearer GW29. The one you decide on may get injured in the meantime anyways. Too much other stuff to worry about ATM.

Non owner here, but I would keep if you can`t field 11 on GW 29 and deal with other issues. Even 1 point can be valuable that GW. I rate Eriksen a lot as a player and IMHO he should be getting his place back soon.

I'll sell for Puncheon if West Ham have a game in GW29 (moves me from 9 to 10 players before the two available transfers).

If Hull get through I'll keep Eriksen.

How is my team looking for this GW. I have 2FT and £4.1m in the bank so planning just one transfer but really not sure what to do:

    McGregor (Mannone)
    Yosh Kos Azpi
    Haz Yaya Mata Noone
    Suarez Sturridge Dzeko

    Subs Punch Ward Evans

    Should I look at doing:

A - transferring out a keeper. Both have blanks in 2 weeks but Hull have decent games until then.
B - upgrade Yosh or Evans to Ivan (both play in GW29 though)
C - Noone to Lallana (again Noone plays in GW29)
D - Dzeko to Ade (this will be one of my transfers next week so worth doing it now?)

Who would you play out of:

    Mirallas (che)
    Noone (AVL)

    ?

I've seen a 2nd half of a cup game between Cardiff and Wigan and Noone looked like a main threat from the Welsh side, so I am a bit tempted to play him, as he has certainly easier fixture...

I would probably go for 2. Team looks ok for next few weeks. Don't like Campbell but he is bench fodder anyway. I would also keep RVP and bench next week, he is captain material for GW29.

Next week I would look to get rid of Silva and Campbell and bench RVP and Mata

Anyone think City can overturn the CL tie? I do. I don't understand all the praise Barca are getting. City were more dangerous even with less possession but the ref decided the game. Not just the penalty and foul not given on Navas in the build up but in general. Many fouls on City players not given. Many fouls on Barca players not even fouls. If Aguero is back and fit, I don't see why City can't win 3-1 in Camp Nou especially that they have nothing to lose. They will go all attack. Camp Nou is not what it used to be.

They need Aguero back, they can certainly beat Barcelona, everyone wrote Arsenal off against Bayern last season - it is almost as if people just forget that it is football and anything can happen if a call goes their way and they all play 100%

saying that, I think they will fall short, maybe a 1-1 draw or a narrow 2-1 win

0-2 there`s no return @ camp nou. I found City played a very intelligent game, and could have easily won it, but harshly punished by episodes. Silva, Kompany, Fernandinho had a superb game. They miss Kun big deal.

    Morning guys!

I'm using 1FT to fix McShane, then saving 1FT. Right now I've got 10 players for GW29 if Hull - Wham game is off, 11 if it isn't.

I've got Eriksen & Mirallas (benched for Noone this GW). Would you

    A) Ditch Mirallas
    B) Save FT
    C) Ditch Eriksen
