We bring you the draws for the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX and FFS Members Cup IV, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after the qualifying rounds for both competitions took place over Gameweek 27:

First of all, entrants with a score of 56 points or more have earned a spot in the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX. If you scored 55 points, it was then down to overall rank to decide whether you progressed.

Our defending champion, Tdubb05, gets his title defence underway against stocherilac this weekend. Looking at some of the other previous winners, Jonty plays djt, MCH is up against Jambo 17, Donnellyc has cflanesra, Wild Rover goes head-to-head with Chobber Slops FC, whilst Gooner Dave has been drawn against JW.

Some of the plum ties amongst the community include Chu Young Ping Pong v Acquafresca, Bubbles against Yes the Sess! and Accounting on Chris v Attila the Bum.

Four of the current top 100 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers are in the hat for this weekend’s matches. Gambiteer, Justoutsidethemoney and Forbes are amongst those high-fliers as is world number two Tom Fenley, whose opponent, Alistair, currently sits around the 23,000-mark.

If you’ve qualified or just fancy a nosey, click here to view the full First Round Draw.

Entrants with a score of 58 points or more will have made their way into the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup IV. If you scored 57 points, it was then down to overall rank to decide whether you progressed.

Defending champion Acquafresca is up against Caladan Brood, whilst another former winner, Fuzzy Dunlop, goes head-to-head with The EJJ in Gameweek 28.

Amongst the notable community match ups, contributors Big Dunc and In Tommy We Trust face up to EpicFail and Chu Young Ping Pong respectively, whilst Dino’s clash with Bootsy and Thomass67 against Absinthe also catch the eye.

Once again, Tom Fenley is the manager to avoid in this cup. This time, he’s up against tmidrew who, with a rank inside the top 4,000, will fancy his chances of causing an upset. You can click here to view the First Round Draw.

For a list of the prizes and dates of each round, check out this initial article. As always, good luck to all those involved.

RVP stating the obvious that players getting in his way, MOYES your playing people in their wrong positions for the sake of your shite system which is reliant on good wingers who can cross, Young and Valencia are rubbish and it's not working, it's boring, it's predicatable, 4-4-2 bla bla bla boring!. That is up there with one of the worst performances i have EVER seen. PATHETIC.We create no chances under Moyes.

Pass pass pass back, pass pass sideways, pass pass pass, lose the friggin ball! Rant over!

A post-GW29 challenge for you all:

    Pick one:

    Eden Hazard (0 dgw's)
    vs.
    Yaya Toure (3 dgw's)

^^^This is precisely what i am trying to do

downgrade Hazard to someone like AJ, netting 4.2m

and spread that 4.2m over my defense.

so my answer really is yaya.

                thank you for answering.

I favor Yaya as well, at the expense of Hazard.
Not because everyone should follow my lead, but because I want my defensive titans to be my team's differentiator.

I disagree with that, and my team's bias will be toward quality at the back.
We're straying from my question, but the difference I'm looking at is this:

              A.johnson+ (Kompany, Ivanovic, Coleman, Evra)

              -versus-

Hazard + (Ivanovic, Jagielka, Fonte, Ward)

dont like the company pick .
ward could score close to evra anyway!
im going completely the other way and ubering up but its all personal choice.

I probably won't buy Evra, but that was just to illustrate my point.

4.2m downgrade from Hazard, imo, can be recovered (and then some) with hard-hitting DGW-heavy defenders with little likelihood of rotation.
** in Kompany's case, I may go with Hart instead. Can't chance dgw's on Zaba/Kola

If you sort "all players" by "value(season)", the defenders rule the roost. They get more PPG, and top out at 6.5 for the superstars. Bargain.

fair enough and i suppose with the extra fixtures kompany maybe isnt such a bad shout.
i just like the prospect of my gw 31 team being stacked full of big hitting attackers , and then a couple of hull and a wham defender.

I am considering keeping all of the following for their upcoming doubles, despite a blank in gw29 (I'd have 7 players starting for gw29):

    mcgregor

    collins baines coleman

    silva yaya

    Suarez Sturridge

Is it crazy to keep them all through a blank? I just think I'd be so well set up for the remainder of the season it could pay off.

Off the pitch Rooney is cancerous. We've seen it countless times, the whining, the moaning, the 'I'm gonna leave because I'm not the star player'. And now they've dug themselves into a huge hole by giving him a contract worthy of the best player in the world, when Rooney isn't even the best player at the club (based on last season at least). Things could get worse before they get better.

          Should have sold.

Regardless of what the fans say, they have RVP and would have made a pretty penny, if anything Moyes shouldn't be applauded for keeping him at the club but ridiculed for not having the character cut the dead weight adrift and begin anew.

In fairness I'm mainly talking from the benefit of hindsight. In the summer I thought United really should keep Rooney. But it's the contract that I have massive issues with, as the rest of the squad do/will. I guess that was the price of keeping him, and it certainly isn't a price worth paying

What surprised me greatly was that they offered him this contract at a time when, on top of their debt, they will need to reduce the wage bill with Champions League clearly out of reach. This will ultimately hurt the club dearly, and I can honestly see United stuck with Rooney when he's toxic, terrible and worthless financially.

Bit more to that than meets the eye fellas.
United actually are registering huge profits which is helping them cut their debt rather well. Also have restructured an interest payment on debt which cuts how much they pay by something like 10 million pounds a year. Then they have a possible new Jersey contract with Adidas worth somewhere in the region of 700 million pound sterling over 10 years.

It is hard to say. Their financials are improving, I believe the debt attached to United is half what it was when first bought. So there is money, certainly with the loan adjustments and Jersey deal.

I think they know this is a huge business, if they let it sink by not investing then they're ruined unless they sell the club. United is still the most profitable club in the UK, they won't let that potential slip would be my belief.

Indeed they have done well, but a lack of Champions league football is a different kettle of fish, and lucrative contracts and large spending will make matters work. Just ask Fenway Sports Group.

It is problematic of course but that may offset the cl loss with their higher profit intakes.

Of course they require some shrewd buying too. Bilbao, Lyon, Werder Bremen, Porto clubs that have talent but would not be seen as the top teams in their countries (aside from Porto). A lot of talented players will go to United regardless of CL, they must find them first though. I want them to get Herrera, he would be a great buy.

This is my thinking exactly, all this worry he'll somehow create an unstoppable system at Chelsea. Let them pay through the nose for him and his huge wages, see how that settles with the other big egos at Chelsea. And when something goes wrong, let them convince him to stay. This attitude corrupts the younger players too. And next season or the season after he'll kick up a fuss again.

To justify this he needs to be the top goal scorer in the league next season by a significant margin for me to have even a shred of respect for him.

I find it mind boggling that they have offered him that contract. Rooney strikes me as the type of player that once he gets on the other side of 30 and loses a yard of pace, will decline in quality very abruptly. Stuck with him for 5 and a half years now.

The media are biased, personally I found it difficult that they didn't notice how Evra didn't exactly cover himself in glory with the Suarez affair, he tried to break Suarez up, lucky for Suarez, Rio was in the way. The handshake was borderline as well, they weren't looking at each other and Evra made an absolute meal of Suarez's petty mistake.

Probably a bit late on this one, but what does Rooney honestly spend his 300k a week on?

Can only buy so many holiday homes abroad which he'll use for 1 week a year or cars to drive a couple of miles here and there.

Does he donate a big chunk to charity or has his own foundation?

So I agree that blaming formations is lazy and by no means the only factor but Sherwood is a poor choice of manager to back this up. Sherwood is tactically naive and his player selection, formations and tactics definitely contribute to poor performances. Saying that his formations etc. don't decide the outcome shows his lack of tactical nous.

United are not gonna play in the champions league next season.

Who do you think they could realistically attract to improve their squad?

    They need AT THE VERY LEAST 1 RB , 1 CB , 1 LB , 2 CM , 1 WINGER

Can they get any of the below mentioned and more importantly, would it improve United?

A clear out is needed. Been getting away with taking poor players through, and into the squad for a few years because of the solid shell to the side. Now that has well and truely shattered, these players are being found out. Likes of Smalling and Cleverly have been blooded to plug gaps in the good sides of the past, now being asked to play a big part shows them as they are.

The players on that list would all probably improve Utd ATM. Tiote isn't much of a player IMO, but at least he gets about. Utd midfield has deteriorated over the last few years, everyone has witnessed it except anyone with a connection to Utds transfer policy!

        You got it spot on.

United have far too many "Squad Players" and not enough first teamers.

But i Think United can do far worse than getting Lallana (25yrs) & Caulker(21-22 yrs) for a combined total of note more than 30m.

Both of them are easily United class imo.

Who remembers Everton's orgasmic football toward the end of last season? Their passing and movement was irresistible toward the end.

I don't think having a complete overhaul of staff was ever going to be a smooth transition (SAF knew this) but I think that given time and investment, Moyes can evolve United into a serious force again. Let's face it, he hasn't done much worse that SAF did in his first season.

Ferguson, in the last couple of years of his tenure, was playing for the short term. Yes, Man U won the league but in one way that served to camouflage the shortcomings of the team, shortcomings which really became evident this year. Moyes did not arrive at OT until early Aug and was trying to work a xfer market with an executive who is essentially a banker with no experience in such matters. Not exactly a recipe for preseason success. Roll forward a few weeks and Fellaini was about the best he could do. Is Fellaini's lack of success this year the fault of Moyes also?

He was very good at Everton(under Moyes) and was wanted by many "top" teams. The man u midfield is toothless and if Evans is unavailable the center of their defense is porous. Team needs a major upgrade in many areas, something that could not have been achieved last summer

Maybe this is why SAF gave Moyes a six year contract, so the owners either had to give him the time SAF perhaps knew it would take or give him a huge pay off.

Why yield to Rooney? Why not accept the squad needed an overhaul? At this point his decisions are dictated by the pressure he is now under. United narrowly lost out at Anfield, they played well I thought, but Ultimately the motivation wasn't there to sustain a title or even a top four charge.

Overhaul? Each player that comes in must be of the right quality, and that quality is very hard to buy. He tried to get players like Fabregas, but it's not easy.

And Rooney is an exceptional player. Irreplaceable imo. Like I said above, players of that quality are very hard to come by.

An overhaul can also meet dropping the dead weight and building for the future, working within the constraints is an art Moyes should be well used to. Big signings aren't the way forward now.

I'm not clutching at any straws as I'm not a Man U fan and couldn't care less what happens to them. As a non fan maybe my point of view is a little more objective. Everybody knew that any manager coming in after Ferg would have an adjustment period, as would the team. The Fergie days are over, it's a different club now and it has to go down a bit before it can reform and bounce back

If theyd have got a proper manager there would have been no 'down a bit'
The PL isnt that great a league. Losing to the likes of WB, Newcastle, Stoke, is unacceptable as well as shoddy draws with Cardiff, Southampton and Fulham is the only reason theyre not in the top 3.

Any who tells me Mourinho or another decent manager wouldnt have got those results is talking rubbish.
Everyone saying lack of quality but the squad is full of enough quality to win matches like those.
As for wasting 64million on Fellaini and Mata!!!! Cabaye, Lallana, Matic etc were all available to be bought and nothing was done

I would have Moyes out in an instant! There are many better managers who could do more with that squad, did you see how inept they were tonight?
Its a tactical mess since day one and that has less to do with players and more to do with coaching and management.
Even Tim Sherwood is doing a better job and he's been a manager what, 12 days?
I truly believe that Pulis or Allardyce would have had a better season than Moyes (not that i want them as his replacement)
Poyet and Pardew are even doing more with their squads.

Allardyce was always at a smaller club than Everton.
Pardew outperformed Moyes by 9 points just 2 yrs ago.
Pulis was working with peanuts and making miracles happen at Stoke.
Are Everton better or worse this yr with Martinez?

Success at Everton was finishing behind the big 6 and above the minnows like Sunderland, WBA, Stoke, Bolton etc etc. Success at United requires you actually be good at what you do, not average.
Moyes record V big teams at Everton was woeful. One tactic, one way of playing...hence Uniteds predictability and averageness this season.

If you think Moyes is the man for a job at one of the top 3 biggest clubs in the world it is you who's blinkered. Blind actually....
