It’s the ScoutCast vs Adversity. Granville drags himself out of his sick bed and we scramble into a makeshift studio, determined to return to the airwaves after our absence last week.

Apologies in advance for the echo, the faint background hiss and Granville’s Bonnie Tyler-like tones. If you can see your way past that little lot then you might just find some worth in this week’s episode as we grill the Gameweek 29 blank, sauté the Gameweek 31 doubles, boil down the Suarez vs Sturridge debate and lament our joint decision to choose Edin Dzeko from the lavish striker buffet, ignoring the sumptuous Sturridge in the process.

In between that particular call to Captain Hindsight, we rinse through the regulars, although Granville’s poorly state has us clean forget to credit the Scout League leaders or offer our thoughts on our new Fantasy Football squeeze – Ultimate Fantasy Premier League. Please accept this note from our respective Mum’s and the promise that we’ll return to full fitness next week.

Dose yourself up via this link or take your medicine via the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Play 1, bench order out of:
    A) Noone away vs Tottenham
    B) Ward away vs Swansea
    C) Vlaar home vs Norwich

Suggestions? Currently playing A and bench order CB.

I'll probably get him. It's lucky Man City have blanks because otherwise I'd probably keep Silva and still not get Yaya. But I'm getting rid of Silva for the blanks leaving me room to pick Yaya up later.

    REPOST - any views?

Currently have 7 players for Gameweek 29

Doing Giroud to Ade FT to give me 8, (4 in Che/Tot game).

Would you take a -4 hit to field 9 players is so which? Will be saving free next week?

    a) Koscielny to Azprilicueta
    b) Koscielny to Bassong
    c) Save and go in with 8 players

Usually I would give a few options of what to do with my team but I literally have no idea what to do for this GW

    boruc
    Koscielny, Coleman, Terry
    Hazard, Lallana, Sterling, Puncheon
    Sturridge, Adebayor (C), Suarez

Bench: Mannone, Yaya, M Olsson, Ward

    3.7ITB 2FTs

Also I don't want to sell Yaya, thoughts?

Correct and there is just nothing really appealing in GW29 without selling a future DGWer that I would probably want back. I'll probably settle for 8 players in GW29, could be worse

      No more changes for GW29
if Sunderland, Hull or Man City draw in the FA cup their DGW is removed from GW31
Provided Arsenal and Everton don't draw in the cup these DGWs could be added to GW31:
Arsenal v Swansea, Everton vs Palace/Newcastle

      Other DGWs after 31:
      Man City v Sunderland
      Man City v Aston Villa
      Sunderland v West Brom
      Everton v Palace/Newcastle

Don't forget Smalling looking completely uncomfortable in attack, Cleverly being useless, and Valencia's crosses landing closer to the corner flag instead of the penalty spot. Wow.

Smalling isn't a right back. The lack of depth in that position is criminal with Rafael being so prone to injury.

True. Valencia would be better at RB actually. There aren't many good RB's in the prem.

hmmmm, Valencia has cost us a number of important goals at RB this season. I think it's far more difficult for a midfielder to adapt to being a defender than the other way around.

Valencia has played DEF when we are chasing leads though and need all out attack. If he was assigned to play def he could be just as athletic as Rafael without the dumb fouls. Val is captain of Ecuador and shouldn't be in such a rut. He went through one purple patch a couple years ago when he put a bunch of crosses right onto Rooney's (balding at that time) noggin, but since then he lost confidence and those crosses land in row zed. I don't expect much from Young and Cleverly, but I'm more frustrated by Val and Evra (the second worst passer on the team after Chicharito). Sheesh.

Ashley Young is a horrible footballer. Looking where you are going to pass /cross the ball and keeping your head up is basic football knowledge that gets taught as a child; if anyone here has played for a team at a young age, then you'd know that is something that is drummed into you. He fails at even the basic level. He's just shite. How much did United pay Villa for him?

    Cazorla Sterling Hazard

    Suarez Adebayor Giroud

    Boruc Ryan Bennet Ward-Prowse Yaya

don't think the 10mil on the bench is that big a deal, it's like an injury imo, and i'd also argue the weird nature of gw29 makes it more like just being benched for 1gw. saving 2 transfers may not be 8 points, but given the temptation of gw31's doubles it could be just that

if it's the video i'm thinking of a fair few of the passes i think would have been intercepted. but in general yes, kagawa's pass and move and willingness to play through the middle too is a nice thing. i actually have a theory that that sort of football is not only the hardest to play against but actualy easier to do than what man utd currently try. relatively simple things at speed and the ability is having the touch and accuracy to make it work

I agree with you on all points, a few would have been intercepted unless thumped at him. That's my thinking too, Dortmund made it into an art form when Kagawa was there, they were lethal because of their speed. It just takes the technical ability and it truly is such a simple method. I think it's because it offers more certainty, if each player knows the system they know that what they're doing can lead to a goal. With the random crossing system you really have to be positive that you know exactly where you're putting the ball, much harder to do at speed than giving an accurate pass.

Well our crossing is never going to be accurate when they spend more time looking at the ball than actually looking at where the ball should be going.

And no one behind Kagawa (maybe except Carrick) has the technical ability to make those passes)

Hi all, my 1st post 🙂

    Team for next GW:
    Marshall
    Coleman, Shaw, Kos
    Eriksen, Noone, Lallana, Hazard
    Adebayor, Sturridge, Suarez

Subs: Mannone(blank) ; Olsson, Wilson, Mata (blank)
    1FT, 1.8M spare

Just trying to scour a path through next few gameweeks... have 10 available to play gw29 which I am happy with. Next general plan is to raid in many City and Sunderland players (3 dgw's each after 29) and possibly ship some Southampton/Tott players (no dgw's).

Sound like a good plan/ any suggestions?

    Cahill vs Ivanovic

A few of us are looking at bringing one of these 2 in this week, so I thought it worth a look at which is best.

I expect Ivanovic will be the most popular due to his recent hauls and far better offensive stats (one look in the members area highlights this).

However, Ivanovic only has 4 BPs when he hasn't had attacking returns, whereas Cahill has had 9 BPs when he hasn't had attacking returns. Add to this that they are both similarly nailed on and Cahill is 0.5m cheaper and I think there is a genuine decision to be made.

Who gets your vote and why

Question is, which is more likely over a short period, an Ivanovic assist/goal or some Cahill BPs. Also worth noting that Cahill is a decent goal threat himself.

Ivanovic is the more explosive option, but unless he scores or assists I think Cahill will outscore him. For me it's just a 2-3 week gamble too.

3 weeks ago people would have said cahill for goals and assists.
i personally feel due to not converting the assist threat he should have at full back (1 in 50 games!) ivanovic doesn't eat into cahill's also big goal threat enough

i feel ivanovic's only USP is 10% more nailed.
this will sound really cheesey and like some sort of detergent advert but card are silent killers. ivanovic's 7 yellows have effectively wiped a goal off him. also silent killers as full backs find it hard enough to get bonus, a yellow basically kills off hopes unless they score too.
if you feel cahill is nailed enough then him.

Yeah, agreed. I think Luiz also has a knock and is unlikely to play against Fulham. Then it's Spurs and I expect Mourinho to definitely play his strongest CB pairing for that, which is Cahill and Terry imo.

The kicker for me is that it enables me to get Eriksen instead of Snoddy (could be a good or bad thing! 🙂 )

I own Ivanovic (and have owned him, along with Azpil, since my January WC). That said, I think it's a tossup. I expect Ivan to score more, but not very much more. Pick the one that fits your budget best. Ivan and Cahill are the two best options for Chelsea defense right now.
