The FA retrospectively charge Charlie Adam after his alleged stamp on Olivier Giroud last Saturday. Martin Olsson is the latest injury concern for Norwich after pulling out of the Sweden squad with a shoulder problem. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms Wilfried Zaha still has a part to play for Cardiff, Tottenham’s left-back worries escalate and West Brom’s Billy Jones is out for a month with a hamstring injury:

Adam Charged with Violent Conduct

The FA have taken retrospective action against the Stoke midfielder after his alleged stamp on Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud last weekend. The match officials failed to spot the incident at the time but the authorities have acted quickly in charging Adam – he has until 6pm this evening to respond.

Stoke issued a statement on their official website just minutes after the decision was made public and have confirmed they will contest it:

“The club have learnt within the last hour that The FA have chosen to charge Charlie Adam following an incident involving Olivier Giroud in Saturday’s Barclays Premier League game against Arsenal. Charlie and the Club are surprised and disappointed to learn of this and will appeal vigorously against the decision.”

The Scout Says: In almost any other Gameweek, this news wouldn’t be much of an issue for Fantasy managers but, with only five fixtures set to take place this weekend, our midfield options could be restricted further. If Adam is found guilty, a three-match ban looks on the cards for the Scot – meaning he would miss this week’s trip to Norwich in addition to the league games against West Ham and Villa, thus killing off his appeal as a short-term option. With the likes of Robert Snodgrass and Christian Eriksen both doubtful and Jason Puncheon rested by Tony Pulis, many of the in-form options with fixtures on their agenda this weekend could be out of the equation. Bearing in mind Stoke’s kind schedule, a move for Jon Walters may tempt some – as the weekend win Arsenal showed, the Republic of Ireland international will step up for spot-kicks if Adam is not on the field.

Olsson Concern for Canaries

The Norwich left-back was an early withdrawal from Sweden’s squad to face Turkey tomorrow evening after sustaining a shoulder problem against Villa on Sunday. Olsson’s national team coach Erik Hamren confirmed the defender is due to undergo surgery once the current campaign is completed:

“He will undergo surgery later. He has a problem which became worse yesterday. Norwich want him to remain with the club to get treatment and have as much chance as possible to be able to complete the season.”

The Scout Says: The news merely adds to Chris Hughton’s concerns in a dismal week that saw Leroy Fer, Ricky van Wolfswinkel and Robert Snodgrass all pick up injuries. Prior to the midweek defeat at Villa, Olsson had turned in some of his best Fantasy displays of the season, with an assist, three bonus points and a trio of clean sheets over the previous six Gameweeks. Providing he can recover for this weekend, a home clash with Stoke looks prosperous as Hughton’s side seek a fifth successive shut-out at Carrow Road, whilst the 4.3-priced defender’s owners may well look to hold beyond next weekend, with Sunderland, Swansea, West Brom and Fulham in the subsequent five matches.

Zaha Still in Solskjaer’s Plans

The Cardiff boss confirmed Wilfried Zaha remains very much in his first-team thoughts, despite dropping the on-loan United wide man to the bench in Sunday’s defeat at Tottenham.

“Wilf’s been very positive since he’s come. He’s made a great contribution in some of the games. He’s got talent we’ll use in the next 10 games definitely.”

The Scout Says: After replacing Peter Whittingham as a first-half substitute in Gameweek 24, Zaha was handed a starting role in each of the Bluebirds’ subsequent three league games before a shift to 5-3-2 saw him drop out of the XI. Solskjaer’s constant tinkering, both in personnel and team shape, seem to be preventing his side from settling, though, and a distinct lack of cohesiveness has now seen the Welsh club fail to score in six of their eight matches under the new manager. With only five matches set to take place this weekend, Zaha owners will surely hold in the hope he will feature against Fulham but another stint on the bench may well see Fantasy owners look to the upcoming double Gameweeks for a potential replacement.

Sherwood’s Left-Back Worries Heighten

Ahead of Saturday evening’s trip to Stamford Bridge, Tottenham have real concerns in the left-back position. Reports in the local press indicate Danny Rose is expected to miss the next couple of league games with an ongoing knee problem, whilst Zeki Fryers was forced to withdraw from the England Under-21 squad with an ankle injury.

The Scout Says: Despite missing the likes of Kyle Walker and Younes Kaboul last weekend, Spurs manage to register a third clean sheet in the last four Gameweeks, with Fryers and Kyle Naughton deputising for Walker and Rose respectively. If Fryers and Walker miss out this weekend, Sherwood may be forced to switch Jan Vertonghen to left-back, providing Kaboul recovers in time, though the versatile Etienne Capoue offers an option at centre-half – he, too, is currently a doubt with an ankle problem. Given that Spurs then have Arsenal, Southampton and Liverpool as their following three opponents, anyone holding their defenders may be eyeing up a transfer out, despite their impressive recent form.

Mixed Injury News for Baggies

Billy Jones looks set for another spell on the sidelines after West Brom confirmed he suffered a hamstring tear in the Gameweek 27 draw with Fulham. Jones is expected to be out for around four weeks with the problem, though both Stephane Sessegnon and Claudio Yacob are back in full training and in contention to return against United this weekend.

The Scout Says: Jones’ absence is a real blow for Baggies boss Pepe Mel for the clash against David Moyes’ side. The right-back has managed just two lots of 90 minutes under the new manager, with his stint on the sidelines affording Steven Reid game time in the back-four. Whilst Yacob is likely to be re-installed in central midfield, Sessegnon has yet to feature since the departure of Steve Clarke due to an ongoing groin problem – after starting the Cottagers clash with a 4-4-1-1, Mel finished the game with a 4-3-3 formation and the Benin international is certainly versatile enough to operate on the right of a front three, for example. With Swansea, Hull, Cardiff and Norwich directly after the United clash, and a double Gameweek still to be announced, the Midlands outfit certainly have the fixtures to prevail.

        Or so we hope.

It sounds as if he has been carrying it for a while and has aggrivated it but the fact that they're waiting until the season end for the surgery makes it seem like he's important enough to play even at 80% and with one shoulder.

So you dont bring in Rooney or Rvp this week as you want to bring in Aguero. Chance that he can sustain a reacurrence of injury against Hull as we know hes injury prone or even maybe play a cameo Vs Fulham aswell as need to keep him fresh and ready for Utd!

I'm just thinking, with Everton's fixtures, Lukaku has a fantastic chance to end the season similarly to last year and get a truckload of points..

I'm not saying he will or won't, but IF he does, that is going to cause a massive headache up front for us.

Most people will probably have 2 of RVP/Aguero/Suarez, and some people will have all 3.
For those with a spot left, its mainly taken by Sturridge, with a handful of Lamberts and Adebayors in there.

Any chance of Lukaku battering his way over the magnificent dancer that is Daniel Sturridge?

I hope Everton don't have DGW in GW31.
So, Sturridge till GW31 & he'll become Lukaku after that.

Nope. Sturridge has failed to score only four times this season. Ade & Lukaku combined have better fixtures, but depending on Liverpool's formation, Sturridge could easily leave you feeling silly.

Agreed, but if Sturridge finds himself losing form, and Lukaku finds himself gaining form, then Lukaku is more explosive and doesn't share points with Suarez 🙂

Gday lads, back from a short vacation, any changes you'd do to this team? 10 players IF Snoddy and Noone make it.

Want to sell Mert for a City defender/Coleman, but the problem is no game this GW.. Can't see many defenders worth bringing in from the teams that's playing this GW.. So should I just save my FT?

Pick one for the next two weeks:

    A) Keep Lambert

    B) Get Rooney for a hit

Money's not a problem as I'm swapping them out for Aguero GW31, I have the money saved to do Lambert -> Aguero but just realised that if I want to, I could get a forward (like Rooney) for a hit if I think he'll outscore Lambert by 4 points in the next 2.

    Already have Mata and Lallana.

My other alternative is Pieters, but getting him would rely on Yaya/Kun not to rise before after GW30, and that seems highly unlikely...

To those who have advised me regarding catching my ML rival, thanks. Here are two WC alternatives that I can afford and at the bottom is his current team with no WC left. Thoughts on my WC team? A and B are my alternatives. C is my ML Leader's team which I trail by 60 points. He captains Suarez weekly, I take a punt.

    A) WC 1
    Adrian Gazzaniga
    Coleman Chambers Olsson Azpi Ward
    Hazard Yaya Snod Sterling Huddlestone
    Aguero RVP Suarez

    B) WC 2
    Adrian Gazzaniga
    Baines Chambers Olsson Azpi Ward
    Hazard Yaya Redmond Sterling HUddlestone
    Aguero RVP Suarez

    C) Rival team
    Speroni Springthorpe
    Cahill Mertesacker Ivanovic Chester Demel
    Hazard Yaya Lallan Sterling Eriksen
    Sturridge Adebayor Suarez

So what's the difference between the two WC teams?

      A. Coleman - Snodgrass
      B. Baines - Redmond

Snodgrass is out injured though right? So B.

Not sure on the prognosis on Snod's injury. But anyone can be Redmond really, just not much I can afford there. It goes down to whether Baines > Coleman at the end of the season. I've had Coleman from GW1.

            Coleman:
            Paid Price 5.0
            Current Price: 6.6
            Selling Price: 5.8.

Wow, just realised how much I will lose. I thought my rival had Coleman but no harm in keeping him if he doesn't, right?

I would keep Coleman if I were you.

Baines is better, but you woudn't be getting enough from selling Coleman at that price and if he hits form he could still outscore baines.

Sounds fair enough. Would give me the room to upgrade Snod then too. The rest of the team looks okay? Good and major differentials that will hopefully help me beat the rival.

Yeah if it allows you to upgrade Snodgrass then its the obvious choice 🙂

Note that your rival doesn't have AJ or Nolan who both have DGWs coming..

Rest of the team looks well, I wouldn't go for Huddlestone personally but could easily work out well for you if he feels like another haircut (goal)

It's just a matter of cash so hopefully those alternatives can fit the budget. I find it hard pressed to find a midfielder in the price range and I think Hull have the DGW somewhere to. Thanks a lot for the help!

I would go Sturridge over RVP if I were you as both your midfield options look a tad weak. Aguero could be a huge differential for you, providing he doesn't have lots of cash in the bank. I would also look to get a city defender and AJ as they have the most fixtures remaining.

I don't want to triple up on Liverpool and feel either one of Suarez/Sturridge is enough, or else I won't over take him as he has both of them. Not letting go RVP unless he does something crazy and doesn't score 3 weeks in a row or something. Want AJ but can't find the cash.

Only hope for some goals is in that they also can't seem to keep their opponent from scoring. So maybe we're gonna see the much waited own goal galore in this match?

True, but it adds a lot more risk to the taking of differentials, like if you go for Bony/Remy/Lukaku you're basically saying you think they'll do better than Sturridge, or else you'll be left behind.
Whereas if Studge gets fudged, then you can be free to experiment a bit more without the fear of being left behind as nobody can get his points.

The problem with sitting tight and keeping them both is that everyone will have the same forward line and nobody will gain anything from them except for captain picks.

I'd say 90% of the top 5k will have SAS and none will gain anything on each other, thus making forward lines useless and ineffective.

Whereas if one gets injured, then people will have to try to choose at least ONE spot without it being an automatic choice.

If Sunderland progress in the FA Cup, isn't Mannone gonna end up having another blank at some point leaving you with no GK? That said, I'd have Bardsley/Brown as your DF as they'll be handy for more DGWs.

I've been thinking more about it today, I could but it would basically mean having sterling instead of Gerard in thirty one, not sure it's worth it

and having 1 striker for a gameweek seems so wrong.

RVP doesn't look interested anymore. I think he'll save his explosion for Holland at the World Cup.....

Hmm.. maybe not a bad bet for him to be the top goal scorer. Probably gonna have some odds after this season of crap that he has had.

i did exactly the same as i have a WC so can get sturridge back in for gw30....i want a good captain for the week and i also want to take the chance to lose the cash tied on sturridge so that i will not be restricted to keeping him and allow me to explore other options lyk lukaku and rvp when they have good fixtures...of cos i have ensured that i can still form a decent team for gw31 b4 i lose the 0.7m if not it will be silly to make tt transfer

Hmm, I've got 10 players with fixtures next week without taking any hits...

Only problem is 3 of them are Snodgrass, Puncheon and Eriksen.

What chance do these guys have of playing?

I think Snoddy will be fit but have a feeling he wont start, Puncheon I have no idea, Erksen I say will start as part of a 5 man mid with Soldado dropping out

Best defensive option for the next few GWs?
    Shaw
    Mollson

Leaning towards Shaw at the moment.

Shaw probably, add onto that the fact that MOllson is slightly injured.

Yeah Shaw is probably best. Was thinking Evra but don't want him against city in the double.

If Rooney is played up front, he has more of a point to prove than RVP (Rooney might want to try to "justify" his new contract).

RVP looks fed up by everything going on around him, not a great mindset for a run in without much to play for.

    Boruc
    Turner, Azpi, Coleman, Parr, Mert
    Mata, Hazard, Lallana, Januzaj, Puncheon
    Ade

    Bench: Mig, Suarez, Sturridge

    2FT, 0.0 ITB

Planning Mert to Evra but need to raise 0.1 irritatingly.

    Any ideas?

I guess I could lose Mig but I quite like his DGW prospects
