Another set of double Gameweek fixtures dropped into the schedule this week to further befuddle the Fantasy Football Scout community, with Newcastle, Arsenal, Swansea and Everton joining the Gameweek 31 party. We look back at the raft of hot topics this fixture change provoked, take a walk of shame by admitting our season faux pas and find time to meander down memory lane to revisit our favourite and most notorious World Cup moments. We also drop in on all the latest standings and ties in the community’s tournaments.

The Hottest Topics

While we’re all pre-occupied with bringing in new recruits for Gameweek 31, it also presents some tough choices regarding benching form players with just a single fixture. Irish Madrista asked whether Eden Hazard owners plan to oust the electrifying midfielder in favour of a double Gameweek player. Meanwhile, Rosola went one step further and asked which non-double gameweek players the community will be ditching. John Terry, Eden Hazard and Southampton keeper Artur Boruc are among those mentioned as “untouchables”.

Sergio Aguero has already being discussed as a key Gameweek 31 pick for many, although Innsie wonders if there are perhaps other options. His post comparing Aguero and Newcastle striker Loic Remy proved interesting and surprising reading. It’s a subject that surfaced again this evening, with Nate dropping in with another Sunday evening hot topic, talking up Romelu Lukaku’s claims for inclusion in our plans.

When it comes to midfield options, we find both West Ham’s Kevin Nolan and Sunderland’s Adam Johnson firmly on many a watchlist. The pair of mid-price contenders are vying for community’s affections and came under the microscope of Evilfuk this week, who looked closely at points per game as well as home and away statistics.

Elsewhere, Wednesday’s international friendlies gave the community a chance to reminisce about World Cups of yesteryear. Demel asked which was our favourite World Cup, with Colonel Wasabi nominating the 1978 Argentina tournament – his first chance to get his mits on a World Cup sticker album. Meanwhile, Rayne Wooney asked for opinion on the dirtiest World Cup team, with the Chile squad of the 1962 the stand out selection for Portsmouth Bubbeljet.

Earlier in the week, Giggs Boson invited some community purging as he quizzed us on our most shameful decision this season. Parmtree was among those in confessional mood, openly admitting to his Nani purchase and finding back-up from Granville. Mark also chirped up with another mention of his failure to adopt Aaron Ramsey. He’s still losing sleep over that.

Finally, if you’re dabbling with your Ultimate Fantasy Premier League Wildcard right now, be sure to check out Archie’s superb analysis of the weekend fixture breakdowns. Brilliant stuff.

The Community Tournaments

With a score of 67, Irina’ss emerged as the winner of Gameweek 28’s Scout Picks Challenge, which is loosely based on our very own Scout Picks and has been created by @ocprodigy. The picks themselves finished a credible fourth with 64 points this week.

In TorresMagic‘s Leagues, Intranisigent topped Last Man Standing where 20 managers got eliminated leaving 95 to move on. Sara Oxyzoglu scored best in Millionaire Club, where only 9 managers survived as 44 went broke. In addition, his FPL Open first round draw is available here.

ENR, Bootsy, Jonty, Billy Ketsu, Jambo17 and Koneheads were the league leaders going into the Gameweek 29 in In Tommy We Trust’s All Things competitions.

Ahead of Gameweek 29, Gaz Downright continued to tighten his grip on first place in the Fantasy Football Scout’s Moderators and Contributors.

The Iron Man competition, for those taking part in multiple games, saw no changes in the top spots with Gigging Order and In Like Flynn continuing in first place in the competition’s Sky and Metro leagues respectively and Jonty retaining the FPL lead.

      Boruc/Davies
      Chester/Coleman/Azpi/Ward/Evra

    (A) JRod, Cahill and Lallana >>> Lukaku, Nolan and Debuchy for free.

Morning guys! What would you do with this lot? Any suggestions would be great:

    Mannone,
    Fonte, Azpilicueta, Ward
    Mata, Yaya, Lallana, Hazard
    Sturridge, JayRod, Suarez

    subs: Marshall, Demel, Olsson, Puncheon

    1FT, 1,6 ITB

I'd like to get Aguero in before he rises too much this week but not sure how to fit him in. Considering ditching Mata for someone but not sure if its worth it to do JayRod -> Aguero for a hit this week.

I am crazy to take a 5 point hit for gw31 to take me from this-

    Mannone, (Marshall)
    Coleman, kos, ward, azp. Chester
    Hazard, mata, snodgrass, eriksen, lallana
    Sturridge, Suarez, ade

    Ade > aguero
    Kos > Zab
    Mata > yaya
    Ward > baines
    Eriksen > Meyer

It's the baines transfer which is really tempting me!

Had an epiphany moment last night and decided not to get Aguero in after all. Too much of a punt coming back from his second lengthy injury so did the following instead:

    Mata & Ade -> Silva & Lukaku

    May backfire b

At least you don't have to worry about gametime or injuries between now and the games. But if Aguero comes through midweek unscathed I'd be worried about the Hull game. Good luck!

They're shipping goals in at the moment I know but Sunderland's six remaining home games have good rotation potential for the likes of Mannone, Bardsley & Johnson. Only Everton (9th) make it into the top half of the "Away Table" while the other five are ranked 12th, 13th, 16th, 18th & 20th!

Sure, Sunderland aren't sitting too pretty on the "Home Table" themselves but they've definitely got the fixtures in both quantity & quality to improve on that.

      CURRENT PLAYERS:
      Azpili
      Mata - Zaha - Lallana
      Lambert

      DGW31 PLAYERS:
      Kolarov
      Yaya - Sterling - AJ
      Aguero

Planning on making 4 transfers over the next 2 weeks, to cost -8 in total.
The question is, who do I get this week and who do I get next week?

I think I'm going to save Lambert this week as he's up against Norwich at home and I can just about afford Aguero to go up by the max 0.3 this week and still afford him.

Kolarov vs Azpili, I have Cahill too and Kolarov might get a game against Hull (pure speculation, anyone have any idea over the chances of this?) so I'm thinking of making this transfer this week.(?)

AJ has Palace at home which is attractive but Lallana has Norwich at home so I think I'll keep for one last week.

Zaha can get the heck out of my team, Sterling the best option for that price or Sissoko/Januzaj?

Probably going to ship Mata this week for Yaya too.

Them's be the plans, anyone think I'm crazy? 😀

He's an awkward middle-price, just cheaper than the big hitters and just more expensive than AJ/Nola/etc so the only reason people are shipping is to work in DGW players.

Hasn't returned for three weeks now, running out of fixtures (AJ for example has three more games to play), no DGW on offer, team has nothing to play for, Norwich had a blip at the weekend but otherwise keep things tight. I could go on!

Not returned but looks in great fork still and probably unlucky to not have had anything if we are being honest. Agree on the DGW but that's not for another week so why bail now? Lastly Norwich's home and away forks are totally different beasts, their last game they conceded 4 goals so imagine there may be more of the same this weekend.

Aguero will outscore Rooney if he stays fit, and Aguero will be more useful towards the end of the season with 2 more GWs.

I'd say no. Man Utd's DGW is not great, and Rooney's still too deep. Although RVPs mental state might give him some more chances to lead the line so I wouldn't dismiss him altogether - but I think if Aguero gets good game time vs Fulham (and he probably will) then he's the better option for the DGW.

Ok, so it seems that who I get in for Ade will define my team for the dgw:

A lukaku - use the cash elsewhere, get kun later
      B aguero

      Mannone (marshall)
      Coleman fonte azpi (ward bruce)
      Hazard lallana mata punch (zaha)
      Ade suarez studge
      4.0, 2FTs

I'd lose mata to fund Aguero if necessary ,
Aguero should easily out score lucky in the run in and a better (c) option IMO.

The below team is good enough for this week to save the WC till GW31 right?

Will lose a few 0.1m's on the likes of Aguero, but it means I can keep my SOT duo, wait on loading up on LIV players and, most crucially, avoid any injuries/suspensions for the DGW.

      Ruddy (sot)
Terry (avl), Baines (CAR), B Davies (WBA)
Hazard (avl), Lallana (NOR), Mirallas (CAR), Snodgrass (sot)
RVP (LIV), Suarez (mun), Lambert (NOR)

Fwiw I did Rvp > Aguero last night , after watching his performance V WBA , he will be lucky to kerp his place ,
I'm v dissapointed with his attitude tbh , Wellbeck played well when he can on.

Perhaps, although Moyes heaped praise on RVP in his post match interview and said he was always going to be subbed off after playing 90 mins for Holland midweek.

United pretty much have to win all their remaining games to have a chance of top 4 and I think RVP will start whenever fit. Also, LIV are very leaky at the back of late - fancy it to be a goal fest that one.

My current line-up for DGW 31:
      Mannone
      Coleman-Koscielny-McCartney
      Mata-Mirallas-Ki-Hazard
      Aguero-Suarez-Sturridge
      sub: Marshall-Lallana-Terry-Ward
      1 FT; Bank: 0.1

      Question:
      A. Who should replace Lallana to cover DGW 31? Nolan, Nasri, Navas or Ramsey?
      B. Hazard or Ki for DGW 31?

      Mata Paulinho Lallana Hazard
      Sturridge Suarez Rooney
      Subs: KD Evra Ward Kasami
