Edin Dzeko is at the double and Yaya Toure nets again as City hammer United at Old Trafford. Romelu Lukaku serves up a goal and assist and Ross Barkley scores for the second successive match as Everton ease past Newcastle, whilst Wilfried Bony also takes his tally to two strikes over the double Gameweek in Swansea’s draw at Arsenal:

Dzeko’s Derby Double Sees City Cruise to Victory
Edin Dzeko took his tally to seven goals and two assists in his last nine starts as Manchester City swept aside troubled neighbours United. Almost 100,000 managers opted for the Bosnian ahead of the double Gameweek, but were immediately disappointed at the weekend when his name was missing from the teamsheet. Having recovered from illness, Dzeko was chosen to lead City’s attack last night as Manuel Pellegrini continued with a 4-2-3-1, and repaid his owners’ faith with a brace and maximum bonus points. Even with Sergio Aguero due to make his latest comeback from injury towards the end of the week, Dzeko’s recent displays have surely cemented his place in the starting line-up for the near future, adding yet more reason to be tempted by his modest 6.8 price-tag ahead of another double in a few weeks’ time.

Yaya Delivers, Silva Disappoints and Nasri Stakes a Claim
Moved to the role in “the hole” last night, David Silva turned in yet another silky display for the visitors. In spite of his impressive showing, the Spaniard failed to produce an end product and finished the double Gameweek with a single assist to his name – whilst Yaya Toure once again ran riot with a massive 31-point haul over the pair of fixtures, Samir Nasri’s trio of assists earned the Frenchman 15 points and suggests that, with a 3% ownership and price of just 8.1, he could be worthy of consideration as a midfield double-up with Toure as City prepare for two more doubles over the run-in.

Another Shut Out for City
A fifth clean sheet in a row for City sums up their value across the board right now. Aleksandar Kolarov and Gael Clichy continue to be alternated at left back, but Vincent Kompany, Martin Demichelis and Pablo Zabaleta are nailed on and will surely harbour the attention of many in the coming days. Potential suitors be warned, however – City face Arsenal, Southampton and Liverpool in their next three, a run of fixtures which will likely determine their title ambitions and the essential status of their rearguard. The trip to Anfield is supplemented by a home clash with Sunderland in the same Gameweek, though, and with West Brom, Villa and West Ham also still to visit the Etihad, further defensive returns look more than likely.

Retained Lukaku and Barkley Spur Toffees
In a night that saw Roberto Martinez’s penchant for rotation irk Kevin Mirallas owners, it was Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley who stole the show in Everton’s 3-0 stroll at Newcastle. Retained from Saturday’s starting line-up, Lukaku and Barkley grabbed a goal apiece, which the former supplemented with an assist and maximum bonus points. An 18-point haul across the double Gameweek, as well as a clear immunity to Martinez’s teamsheet tinkering, justifies Lukaku’s lofty spot in our Watchlist right now, with the Belgian sure to see plenty of investment in the coming weeks prior to Everton’s next double.

However, it was Barkley who topped the Toffees’ scoring ranks for the Gameweek, suggesting that the 5.1-priced midfielder could yet re-emerge as a genuine budget option for the latter stages of the campaign. The threat of rotation still hangs over Everton’s attacking midfielders, though. Martinez has now replaced two of those slots in each of the last two league games and given that Barkley was the only player to start both matches behind the lone striker, there’d be no real surprise if Martinez freshened things up once again for the weekend trip to Fulham.

Strikers on Top at Emirates
With Arsenal missing Laurent Koscielny and coming into the game on the back of last Saturday’s mauling at the hands of Chelsea, and Swansea without a clean sheet in their last six, it looked like it might be a night for the attackers in north London. And so it proved. Swansea’s Wilfred Bony put the visitors ahead with his second strike of the double Gameweek before Arsenal duo Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski found the net for the Gunners in the 2-2 draw. Bony’s 14-point Gameweek return will naturally have satisfied his 5.1% ownership and with eight goals in 12 appearances since the turn of the year, the Ivorian, at 7.1, looks a valid in-form option for our third forward slot, with games against Norwich, Hull and Newcastle in the next four.

Gunners’ Resilience Slipping
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s defensive meltdown has come as something of a shock to us all. So often a reliable source of points this season, the Gunners’ two main back-line assets – Koscielny and Per Mertesacker – managed just one point between them over the double Gameweek, prompting many to contemplate parting company with the Gunners’ rearguard. Those pondering this option should note that the north London outfit have Manchester City and Everton in their next two, before the fixtures take a significant turn for the better for the remainder of the season. With West Ham, Newcastle and West Brom still to visit the Emirates and trips to Hull and Norwich also left to play, Arsene Wenger’s side could still have a major say in our Fantasy seasons over the run-in as they look to clinch that fourth place finish.

I know this will probably change, but how does this look as a plan?

This week - Sterling to Snod (better fixture)
Next week - Nolan to Eriksen and Baines to Vlaar
The following week - Lukaku to Kun

All for free, 0.4 buffer at the moment to still be able to afford that

I have spent many weeks with money in the bank and 2 week transfer plan to be able to fit Aguero in. After I get him he always gets injured again and its points hits to take him out.

When he is fit there is nobody in the league capable of matching his scores bar Suarez but I have given up on him for this season. Lukaku seems to be getting a steady stream of points and is cheaper, may as well stick with him.

"I hope he is ill. Without him they would be mid-table. He should be the player everybody should vote player of the season. But I cannot plan to go and lose and take a 3-0 now. We are not going to do that. We will go and no one expects us to do nothing. We can relax, enjoy our football and if they are better than you, well they have beat practically everybody so why not beat Sunderland?" - Gus Poyet on Suarez and Liverpool.

If you were Moyes (or other) this summer, who would you be looking to sign? It's obvious that CM needs strengthening, and CB, and LB, and I could go on... but who would you go for?

Let's say that money is no object, but they need to be realistic signings, not a wish list.

Big problem is that a lot players would take convincing to join without CL football, particularly with Liverpool, City, Chelsea, PSG etc all going for the same players.

I genuinely have no idea who I would be looking to sign, and which players I might be able to sign who would be deemed "good enough" to play for United by fans and media alike.

Personally not sold on Coentrao, not sure that he's that good a player.

Benatia a good shout, but as you say, Roma reluctant to sell and also reckon he'd want to stay for a season of CL with them. Mangala an "in vogue" shout. Umtiti too, but wouldn't instantly improve what's there. Anyone in England worth looking at? Personally reckon Winston Reid might be a good shout?

Reckon you're probably right. Big issue United are going to have is that other ("better") teams looking to fill similar holes in their squads with potential to promise more.
e.g. as you say with Mangala, City could offer a starting position, as he's far better than Nastasic and Demichelis, and CL football.

And Southampton won't be in any rush to sell Lallana unless he wants to leave. If they keep him they could push on and take up that 6th place that Everton are going to vacate by joining the top 4.

Not that many players necessarily need CL immediately. The top ones do but many younger players will wait a season or two.

Either way, I think Herrera is a good option despite his dip in form this season. Koke could be brilliant too. I would like CM similar to Fernandinho or Paulinho, a box to box engine in the middle. Of course Pogba would be nice but can't see it happening.

Defence is a big issue now. If they went for Luke Shaw in LB and looked for a strong CB, I'd love if they signed Ginter. Then maybe look to sign a second CB that has more experience, hard to suggest who but there are options like Subotic (can't see Hummels leaving), Chiellini or Mangela.

Keep in mind that they're going to need to sign at least one new winger, maybe two, if he insists on using wingers. Muniain would be a great buy in my opinion. A right winger is also needed, perhaps Massimo Bruno or someone like that.

I get where you're coming from. It was impossible for Arsenal given how they operate to turn down that bid when RVP only had a season on his contract left. Song was a big loss to their midfield. I guess they gambled on it helping Wilshire's development and hoped his injury-proneness wouldn't be such a big factor too.

Must have done. I read an interesting interview with Song. He apparently really didn't want to leave Arsenal but was told by management he no longer had a job there. Very surprised they let him go.

I agree that it's not a must to have CL football to sign top players, but think there's going to be so much interest for most United targets from so many clubs around Europe who can offer CL that life will be tougher for United. Particularly as there will be uncertainty (whether fairly or not) over whether they can finish in the top 4 next year.

Koke would be a fantastic signing, and I'd love to see him in England, however if Atleti do manage to win the league, or even if they don't for that matter, I'm not sure if he'd want to leave. Imagine it's a pretty fun place to be currently. If Spurs continue to struggle Sandro or Paulinho may be an option? Dembele? I know opinions differ about him, I for one love him.

Not sure that Chiellini would want to leave, and as someone said above, Mangala may be out of reach.

A winger may be in order, and then decisions need to be made over Kagawa/ Nani/ Young etc. All fairly easy decisions given the last couple of years really. Although I would love Kagawa to come good.

I agree that Koke is more pie in the sky really! Would love to see them win La Liga. And you're right, competition is fierce. The only advantage is that United cab probably offer greater playing time to these younger players than the CL clubs can as they are 1st team replacements.

Now focusing a bit more on England (tried my best to focus on foreign players) there are certainly teams that United could look to. Expect Spurs to move along a number of players in the Summer, I wouldn't complain about Dembele personally but Paulinho I'd like a lot. I think Herrera would come but will be very expensive. I think Cabaye could have been very useful and have a slight feeling Yacob could actually do the job too.

As for the CBs, those lads are a secondary consideration. Ginter should be the main focus. Young and incredibly gifted.

Unfortunately Kagawa will never get to play the CAM role where he should play and as such is better off leaving. I hate seeing him wasted at United.

Oh and Carvalho at Sporting Lisbon, he really could be a great signing and one again is much more likely to play than at City, Chelsea or Arsenal.

Imagine the perceived flattery of United having been following him for quite a while might be a tick in their favour there. And the United/ Sporting Lisbon link may be a help there too...

My best mate is a United fan and was desperate years ago for the always discussed Modric transfer. He would have made such a difference to this team.

Agree with you about Yacob. Started a football manager game with Arsenal recently for a bit of fun and before even starting the game I had Yacob in mind for a cheap option. With them looking in danger of relegation could be a great cheap and short term option for United.

I dread to think how much United would have to pay for Herrera. Maybe Lars Bender? Not sure how likely he would be to move. Sahin might have been an option a couple of years ago, but presume a bad loan spell to Liverpool will likely put them off.

In defence of Kagawa he ended his Dortmund career playing a mix of CAM and on the right after Goetze emerged, but you'd end up with the same issues you get with Mata there. I'm sure Dortmund will be desperate to get Shinji back.

Don't know enough about Ginter, but I've only ever heard good things. Going to have to keep more of an eye out for him. Presume he's a target City may have in mind too?

He certainly would have! Yeah I think Yacob is a very decent prospect for United right now and you see the difference he makes to West Brom when he's playing.

Bender I am not convinced will leave either but I agree Herrera will cost an arm and a leg. Sahin is enjoying himself back at Dortmund now so I hope they wouldn't be put off because of the Liverpool stint. But I'm not sure again if he'll leave.

I'm actually a massive Dortmund fan and I can certainly say that I'd give anything to have him back, especially with Lewa joining Bayern. We need Shinji back.

Ginter has been more a target of German sides but he's reportedly very flattered by United's interest. He's also being chased by Arsenal. He's only 19 and they reckon he'll be a starting 11 player for Germany in the next 3 years.

He'd be a very decent stop gap. On that note is Nick Powell ever going to be good enough? Heard he was impressing for Wigan earlier this year. Bebe has been impressing too... haha.

I was very keen on Chelsea signing Sahin before his Real move, wanted either him or Vidal that window. Seems to have turned out alright with Matic coming back. What a signing he would have been for United.

I have a soft spot for Dortmund. Wouldn't quite call myself a fan, but follow them pretty closely. Saw Goetze's debut on TV and have kept an eye on Dortmund since. Reckon there's any chance of Reus leaving this summer? Can't see it happening myself. Are there any replacements lined up for Lewa? Just Googled to see what happened to Barrios, had no idea he ended up in China. Spartak now.

That's pretty high praise then! Presume he's World Cup bound as part of the squad in that case?

After seeing Poyet's comment "Without him(Suarez) they would be mid-table" i was trawling through Liverpool forum to see a Sunderland supporters response to the comment..

"Well we would be mid-table without Altidore" 😆

Morning all. Not been on much the last few days. Scores are ridiculously high this week aren't they sat on 120 points after hits and still a hefty red arrow. Crazy really I guess that is the power of Suarez and Yay doing well and everyone owning them

I guess I do still have Mannone, Agger, Nolan, Johnson, Sturridge, Suarez (c) to go but still reckon it will be red. Crazy
