It’s Friday afternoon and time to reassess our Sky teams once more. With only five Gameweeks to go, the pressure is on at the top of our mini-leagues – it’s a good idea, then, to take a look at our stats including the Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, bonus point beneficiaries and current market trends. As always, we also scan ahead to the forthcoming fixtures, offering our preferred captain setup for Gameweek 35.

Gameweek 34 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below is a match-by-match breakdown of the players who won the plaudits from the Sky Sports reporters last time out, earning five additional points for the Man-of-the-Match award.

FixtureMoTM
Man City vs SouthamptonDavid Silva
Aston Villa vs FulhamLewis Holtby
Cardiff vs Crystal PalaceJason Puncheon
Hull vs SwanseaCurtis Davies
Newcastle vs Man UnitedJuan Mata
Norwich vs West BromYoussouf Mulumbu
Chelsea vs StokeWillian
Everton vs ArsenalSteven Naismith
West Ham vs LiverpoolSteven Gerrard
Tottenham vs SunderlandChristian Eriksen

Midfielders dominate again this week, with only Steven Naismith, who is listed as a forward, and Hull defender Curtis Davies breaking the trend. A number of differential options are making a claim for our XI and could be useful for the run in if you’re chasing a mini-league rival. David Silva (5%), Juan Mata (7.4%), Willian (0.5%) and Christian Eriksen’s 2.6% ownership look the pick of the bunch and fit the mould for players most likely to receive MoTM – playmaking midfielders.

Gameweek 34 Bonus Points

Eight goalkeepers managed five saves or more this week with Adrian and Vito Mannone the top performers with six apiece. Mannone continues to rake in the bonus and is top of the pile with 28 additional points.

In defence, only six players gathered bonus, three for tackles and three for passes completed – full-back Cesar Azpilicueta came closest to achieving both, missing out by 13 completed passes. Swansea’s Angel Rangel leads the way for the defenders with 26 extra bonus points.

In midfield, 13 players earned bonus points – three for tackling and ten for passes. Stoke’s central midfielder Glenn Whelan was the closet to achieving both, missing out by just one completed pass. Cheik Tiote, Morgan Schneiderlin and Yaya Toure are the games top bonus earners with 40 extra points.

One forward managed bonus this week, as Emmanuel Adebayor, who featured in a slightly withdrawn role, racked up 62 completed passes to go with his two-goal haul, vindicating our choice for captain last week.

A reminder that Fantasy Football Scout members can access all the data regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

NameTeamValue% of Managers
RodriguezSouthampton7.98.29%
HazardChelsea8.85.35%
ToureMan City8.64.71%
RooneyMan United9.63.97%
NegredoMan City8.63.10%

A massive shake up considering the amount of active players that still have transfers remaining, with a host of big hitting options finding themselves shipped out. Jay Rodriguez is set to miss the rest of the season. Eden Hazard looks likely to miss a couple of games and, whilst Wayne Rooney has a blank Gameweek, Yaya Toure has recovered from a minor knock. Toure’s team-mate Alvaro Negredo continues to be shifted after a lack of first team opportunities.

Top Transfers In

NameTeamValue% of Managers
AdebayorTottenham7.66.76%
LukakuEverton8.66.10%
GerrardLiverpool8.15.82%
SturridgeLiverpool9.24.90%
FlanaganLiverpool4.24.09%

Some tactical captain swaps seem to have shaped the market trends with Emmanuel Adebayor and Romelu Lukaku drafted in – probably due to these two being the most obvious routes to maximizing armband options over last/this week. As usual, Liverpool assets make up the rest of the top five due to their pre-season pricing and surprise title-challenge, with Jon Flanagan looking great value at just 4.2m.

Gameweek 35 Proposed Captain Strategy

Looking ahead to the captaincy choices for Gameweek 35 there is a multitude of options due to the additional fixtures.

Our Strategy:
Emmanuel Adebayor (West Brom Away) → Sergio Aguero (Liverpool Away) → Sergio Aguero (Sunderland at Home)

For Saturday April 12’s fixtures there are a few options to consider, with Romelu Lukaku and Adam Lallana making strong claims also as they play Sunderland and Cardiff respectively. However, with Emmanuel Adebayor coming up trumps last week, we’re sticking by our man as he travels to The Hawthorns.

For Sunday 13, a switch to a Man City player looks the best option as although they travel to Anfield for a tough game against Liverpool, they then play again on Wednesday 16 at home to Sunderland – a potential massacre.

Interestingly if you transfer out your Saturday captain for a Man City player you will have ‘banked’ your captain change and can use it after the Gameweek has finished in order to prepare for Gameweek 36.

I have Mannone, Ward, Coleman, Barkley, Lukaku, Aguero, Yaya and Nasri for this DGW.

Also playing Fonte, Eriksen and Suarez. Really hoping for a big triple figure score. Anything above 150 would be amazing. 😀

    Speroni
    Coleman - Kompany - Mertesacker
    Silva - Yaya - Gerrard - Hazard

The World Cup thing is the positive or negative for Lallana?

I believe he's guaranteed a place in the squad so he may not try as hard as before on the field. Saints have nothing to play for too. Is this a good reasoning to overlook him?

For the next 2 GWs, which is the best forward line? Am planning on having Aguero - Adebayor Suarez for GW36.

    A. Sturridge - Lukaku - Suarez ..... Sturridge - Adebayor - Suarez
    B. Sturridge - Lukaku - Suarez ..... Sturridge - Aguero - Suarez

Haha. I'm having exactly same problem, with exactly same options. tough one. To me there's the additional difficulty that I already have 3 City players and thanks to Hazard I only have one FT left. So I have to take a hit and ship out Silva(or YaYa or Zaba) and Studge to bring Aguero in this GW. That just sounds like a huge risk.

I'm still trying to get back to my best rank since GW 10, then push on into the top 100k (need to gain 6k places this week so I should manage that, maybe).

I've got 8 DGW players, decided to use my WC this week in the end, with Aguero confirmed ready to go and Rooney's price dropping while he's out.

    Speroni*,

    Ward*, Baines*, Vermaelen,

Ramsey, Yaya Touré*, Silva*, Barkley*, Eriksen

    Agüero* (c), Lukaku*

Subs (Mannone, Sturridge, Fonte, Ivanovic) 1.2m in the bank

Sturridge benched vs Ramsey/Eriksen is an attempt to get some catching up from differentials. I'm banking on City players getting all the goals/points.

I think I'm set on this... benching Hazard to avoid another hit

    Adrian
    DISTIN WARD DANN Chambers (Azpi)
    MIRALLAS YAYA SILVA (Hazard) (Mutch)
    Suarez LUKAKU AGUERO

    Good to go?

Palace defenders have a double but not a great one. Mirallas/Aguero are gametime risks, could go either way. Tough to know how well it'll work out.

Think I've decided my transfers, good to go?

Sterling, Hazard + Sturridge > Nasri, Eriksen + Aguero (-4)

    leaves me with:

    Mannone
    Baines, Azpi, Cahill
    Nasri, Eriksen, Silva, Puncheon
    Suarez, Lukaku, Aguero

Stones is a good option, you can bench him after this week. The -4 makes it not worth it though.

I don't. 2 cameos is my opinion. 4 months is a long lay off. Rushing him back twice and having it happen again twice, with one of them he came back to play 2 games in 4 days. This must be on Pellegrini's mind.

Think I'm going to go with heart over head with Aguero (again). I've been burned repeatedly like so many others with him this season but may as well give him one more roll of the dice, season almost over anyway!

So then its a choice between Nasri and Silva for my last City spot - which would you all prefer? Or is it a pure coin toss? Both well capable of performing. Silva could suffer from Aguero's return (being pushed back to wing) or could flourish - if Aguero hits the ground running Silva could be Captain Assist for the remainder of the season.........

I'm captaining Baines ahead of Lukaku (don't own Aguero or Yaya), here's why:
Crystal Palace have scored the fewest goals away from home this season (9 in 16 games)
Sunderland have scored the joint fewest goals at home this season (14 in 15 games)
