John Terry is a doubt for Chelsea’s trip to Swansea. Arsene Wenger confirms Aaron Ramsey will start in the FA Cup. James Morrison has emerged as a fitness worry for West Brom. Tim Krul could return between the sticks for Newcastle. Aston Villa and Fulham receive injury boosts ahead of clashes with Crystal Palace and Norwich respectively, whilst Leon Osman is the only Everton doubt for the trip to Wearside, with Phil Jagielka missing out yet again:

Reports suggest that John Terry is a doubt for Chelsea’s trip to Swansea after picking up a foot problem. Fantasy managers waiting for news of Eden Hazard’s calf injury could be left none the wiser heading into the weekend deadline after Jose Mourinho appears to have cancelled his usual Friday lunchtime press conference.

Artur Boruc and Gaston Ramirez remain doubtful with the back and ankle problems that kept them out of last week’s game against Man City. Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed both will be assessed prior to tomorrow’s home encounter with Cardiff.

Ahead of the FA Cup clash with Wigan, Arsene Wenger has revealed that Aaron Ramsey is ready to feature from the start as he builds up his match fitness. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kieran Gibbs and Tomas Rosicky are all doubts to face Wigan and, whilst Laurent Koscielny is definitely out of Saturday’s fixture, he could recover in time to face the Hammers in midweek. Meanwhile, Mesut Ozil could return from a hamstring injury in time for next week’s clash with Hull.

James Morrison is the Baggies’ only injury concern for the visit of Spurs with a muscle problem. Morrison will undergo a late fitness test, with Mel confirming that Chris Brunt will deputise in central midfield should Morrison not recover, in what is also expected to be an otherwise unchanged starting XI.

Newcastle could receive a boost ahead of the trip to the Britannia with Alan Pardew suggesting that Tim Krul “has a chance” of playing following injury. Loic Remy has resumed training but this weekend will come too soon for the Frenchman, confirms Pardew. Mathieu Debuchy is expected to return to training next week following a groin injury, according to reports.

Gabby Agbonlahor, Karim El Ahmadi and Fabian Delph have all been declared fit for the trip to Crystal Palace, having missed out last weekend through illness and injury respectively.

Fulham will welcome back Scott Parker to the squad for the crucial Canaries clash this weekend. Dan Burn and Giorgos Karagounis are also available for selection once more. Felix Magath, though, has ruled out both Kostas Mitroglou and Moussa Dembele, with the latter taking part in the Dallas Cup with Fulham’s youth squad.

Roberto Martinez has confirmed that Leon Osman remains the only new injury doubt for the trip to Sunderland with an eye injury, with the squad expected to be the same as it was against Arsenal. A behind-closed-doors friendly has been arranged for Phil Jagielka next week, to allow the central defender to build up his match fitness following a hamstring injury.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

                Wishy washy statement at best.

About integrity and guidelines and how UEFA think people should play the game.

Then why can't a loan player play against their parent club in the league?

Because it's unsporting and "biting the hand that feeds you".

Same applies here. Both teams agreed to the terms and the contract had to have been reviewed by the UEFA contractual committee.

UEFA just don't want to look bad now it's in the news so they issue a statement about integrity.

That's a domestic league thing. It would be possible for domestic leagues to set that the loaned players can play against parent clubs. That just would make loaning players more rare and would probably be a bad policy because loaning young players to smaller clubs in same league can further their development while giving the smaller clubs means to compete.

Yome is right. UEFA gave their decision that Chelsea can't affect who Atletico fields and if they even try, regardless of what their private contracts say, they will be punished.

"so far as UEFA is concerned."

Not exactly a clear direction though.

I smell some legal action coming. Athletico agreed to this too.

Means that it could be forced in other competitions if there were any, but in UEFA's competitions that go under UEFA's jurisdiction they cannot. They really do have the power to decide this, regardless of what the teams have privately contracted.

You could actually compare this to a situation where you have an unfair working contract. You know, labor law puts some restrictions to what kind of contracts you can make. So if you have agreed upon a contract that is against the general principles of the labor law, those parts of the contract will be invalid and if you do not provide what you've promised against labor law and your employer takes you to court you will win it. Similar thing except that we refer here to a non-governmental international law.

I agree it makes sense but because the contract spans two leagues, it would have to have been submitted to UEFA and reviewed before signing.

This is UEFA saving face because it's been made public.

Hence the statement about integrity. Smacks of "look, we tried to stop it but, you know, legal stuff blah blah blah."

But they can review the totality of the contract as valid and still call one part null and void in these circumstances. Integrity of law is also a valid argument these days. Chelsea will stand very little chance. not simply because UEFA would be objectively right here. I don't know who is. But because it's UEFA's jurisdiction and they can literally walk over governments.

Well. We'll see what happens, but I won't be getting myself new UCL fantasy GK unless it is officially assured that Courtois definitely cannot play that match.

They can accept the loan contract while not reviewing some details in particular, meaning that they can still intervene if these are tried to apply in wrong circumstances. That is, in an UEFA competition, if they try to force such an article of the contract, UEFA may say that it cannot be forced there, just like they said. I think this is pretty clear. Chelsea may take some legal action but I don't think they will succeed in it.

Do you even watch Spanish soccer? Or are you one of those hipsters rooting for Atletico because they're non-mainstream?

They'll play like they did away to City. Can't see more than 1 goal in the first match.

Atletico is the only team that can compete physically with Chelsea. Chelsea would have preferred to park the bus against Bayern

yeah I think they'll find it difficult...however, gabi and juanfran are out for the first leg so that might be a problem
