Sunday’s pair of fixtures serve up a single strike between them as Chelsea blow the chance to go top with a goalless home draw against Norwich. Olivier Giroud grabs the only goal of the game as Arsenal get the better of the Baggies at the Emirates, with Santi Cazorla’s creativity coming to the fore once more.

Giroud in the Goals Again
The Frenchman notched the only goal of yesterday afternoon’s home win and is ending the season in the same manner as he started. Giroud’s first-half strike took his tally to three goals and an assist in the last four fixtures – his most consistent run of form since he notched in each of the Gunners’ opening four matches. Owned by over 21% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, his subsequent eight-point haul took Giroud onto 182 points – fourth amongst strikers and just a single point below Daniel Sturridge. He may have his critics, but with 16 goals and eight assists accrued thus far, he’s served up great value for a starting price of 8.5.

Mixed Midfield News for Wenger
Aaron Ramsey’s owners were left ruing his absence after the Welshman was ruled out with a minor thigh problem yesterday. With Everton’s loss to City on Saturday already securing fourth spot for Arsene Wenger’s side, it was clear he is unwilling to take any unnecessary risks – factor in an upcoming FA Cup Final and there’s a concern that Ramsey may well be rested for next week’s trip to Norwich. Santi Cazorla’s assist for Giroud’s winner gave Wenger plenty to smile about, though, as the little Spaniard finishes the season on a high. After a frustrating second year in north London, he has now delivered an assist in each of his last four appearances – with an ownership of less than 3%, he’s proven to be a consistent performer as the campaign draws to a close.

Another Clean Sheet for the Gunners
A third successive clean sheet – and sixteenth of the season – helped Arsenal emerge victorious in front of their own fans for the final time this term. Wojciech Szczesny moved to the top of the FPL keeper standings after yesterday’s win, whilst both Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny sit amongst the top six scoring defenders; the trio all started the campaign priced at 5.5 in FPL but will surely be elevated into the premium price bracket next time around. If the rumours are true and Bacary Sagna does indeed leave north London, Carl Jenkinson may be on Fantasy radars if he can nail down a starting berth in 2014/15.

Hazard Handed Bench-Warming Duties as Blues Stumble
After tasting defeat to Sunderland and Atletico Madrid in each of the last two Stamford Bridge matches in all competitions, Chelsea were expected to turn over struggling Norwich yesterday afternoon. A win would have been enough take them to the top of the league but Jose Mourinho’s men failed to find a way past a Canaries side that had lost each of their last five league fixtures – Eden Hazard was afforded just 45 minutes off the bench, whilst Samuel Eto’o failed to feature at all, in spite of his impressive home record. Chelsea now have a trip to Cardiff to see out the season, but despite such a favourable fixture, Hazard owners may be ready to jump ship in light of yesterday’s unexpected teamsheet.

Chelsea Defence Plunder the Points Again
The Stamford Bridge outfit delivered their eighteenth shut-out of the season yesterday – four more than they managed in 2012/13. Ten of those have arrived in front of their own fans, with eight on the road – incredibly, from Gameweek 17 onwards, Mourinho’s side conceded a mere eight goals compared to 18 strikes against in the first 16 fixtures. Next week’s trip to Cardiff looks poised to hand Chelsea the chance to extend that record, given that the Bluebirds have scored twice in their last five and are heading for the Championship in dire form.

Canaries Slip Closer to the Drop
Neil Adams moved to a 4-2-3-1 formation for yesterday’s crucial trip to the Bridge. The Canaries boss ditched the recent midfield diamond and shifted Robert Snodgrass back to the right wing, with Martin Olsson fielded on the opposite side of the attacking midfield three. Summer signings such as Leroy Fer, Ricky Van Wolfswinkel and Gary Hooper were all omitted from the XI, as was on-loan wide man Jonas Gutierrez, and in spite of a valiant draw, Adam’s side are nearer a drop to the Championship than ever. They sit two points behind Sunderland and three behind West Brom with a goal difference of -32 compared to -19 and -13 respectively; essentially, a draw between the latter two sides at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday evening would ensure both sides are safe, barring a mathematical miracle on the final day of the season.

Didn't deserve it with the way they have played lately. Beat Liverpool then can't score at home vs Norwich. Clean sheets are great for us though.

Great for the defensive points definitely but I agree with you completely. Part of me wonders if Mou does it deliberately to prove he was right.

The sickening thing for me in Sky is none of my rivals to win it have Chelsea defenders yet i have Petr Cech.

If he was still fit i would of had an additional 21 points right now. 🙁

Well, since my baby left me,
I found a new place to dwell.
It's down at the end of lonely street
      at Heartbreak Hotel.

You make me so lonely baby,
      I get so lonely,
I get so lonely I could die.

      And although it's always crowded,
you still can find some room.
      Where broken hearted lovers
      do cry away their gloom.

You make me so lonely baby,
      I get so lonely,
I get so lonely I could die.

Well, the Bell hop's tears keep flowin',
and the desk clerk's dressed in black.
Well they been so long on lonely street
They ain't ever gonna look back.

You make me so lonely baby,
      I get so lonely,
I get so lonely I could die.

Hey now, if your baby leaves you,
and you got a tale to tell.
Just take a walk down lonely street
      to Heartbreak Hotel.

Like Jenks or not, if Wenger loses Sagna and doesn't replace him, he sends a big time message that Arsenal has no ambition to fight for any titles, but is rather ready to gamble even the traditional 4th place.

Seeing people walk around the street with a 'coffee to go', really annoys me.

They are soooooo deliberately trying to look like the New Yorkers on the telly.

Oh, I am so stressed & busy, I dont have time in the morning for a cup of coffee in my house!!

Just set your alarm clock 10 minutes earlier you lazy bollocks!!!

So my choices are get up 10 minutes earlier than i have to and have a ronh special brew instant coffee. Or go to one of the multitude of excellent cafes and get them to make it for me get one on the way to work. Though i do live in melbourne the cafe capital of the southern hemisphere, ronh special brew instant coffee may be the best thing available round your way, i dont know

Its more a quality thing, ronh, like i said melbourne does good coffee. Also a culture thing here, no one smokes anymore so people walk down and get takeaway coffee together in work breaks. Expensive habit but cheaper and healthier than smoking still 🙂

First of all, I'm not going to be able to drink enough coffee required for my functioning in 10 minutes. Secondly, if you think setting your alarm clock 10 minutes earlier than you otherwise have to is as simple as that, you're clearly too much of a morning person. Normal people like me don't wake up a second before they have to and are usually running late!

Never really crossed my mind how this could be interpreted as a fashion statement but I suppose that might largely depend on where you live and in some places probably even is a fashion statement to some. Whenever I get a coffee to go, in general about 0 people see me with it so it wouldn't really work. When I lived abroad it was a bit different but didn't really think of it then either. But I look like a hobo anyway so I don't think I would be mistaken as someone making fashion statements to begin with 😀

The same thing was said after the Barca game wasn't it? and then he spent weeks out, although there is one clear difference which is in the Barca game you could see he was barely moving and the half just passed him by whereas after this 'injury' he got up made a couple of runs and tackled like 3 people in a row. Also Dzeko in a post match interview said Aguero should be fine for Wednesday

I am really not sure about Rooney to be honest. Why risk him with a World Cup looming?

I am talking my own book here though, with Mata (c) likely to be on the bench if he plays.

Morning folks! Just a quick question about the final game week: It's my first season of playing fairly seriously and I could sneak a PB (no great shakes at 545k, but hey) so what happens with the last game week? Does everyone tend to go hit mad or is it more of a one/two changes affair? Thanks!

I think a lot of people are gonna have to eat their words about him if he gets regular game time. Seriously he's not started 3 games in a row for years now due to injury and being dropped for no reason. Of course some of it is his fault, but I still think there is a class winger in there

Too many in their case...tripping up over each other most of the time. It just shows that they attack more than we give them credit for but are actually just rubbish at it.

There are winners and lose. Points are points, I don't see why you get half points for a goal just because he is a sub. It would stop all that nonsense where people deliberately start non players

In FPL, I think you should get full points. It's just unlucky if Ramsey doesnt start, for example.

Id like some rule that punishes people that deliberately start players that are red flagged, with expensive subs though.

Yeah I spend money on all the players in the squad. If you want to offer me half price on 4 players who are perma benched and only come on if my starting 11 don't play then maybe half points is okay.

No I don't believe half points are fair at all. It should remain as it is so that full squads of 15 are rewarded. They should have an advantage over those who chose not to invest in their own subs bench.

There's an assumption that anyone in favour of the rule must have a crap bench. I invest in my subs bench but I've only had 23 points from autosubs all season.

I say those who want to keep the existing rule shouldn't pick so many rotation risks 😉
