World Cup Dugout Discussion – Matchday One

The wait is over. The World Cup kicks off with the host nation, Brazil, facing up to regular dark horses, Croatia.

The tournament favourites lineup as expected, with the likes of David Luiz, Oscar and Paulinho the familiar names alongside Neymar – the Barcelona starlet sports the armband for Fantasy managers far and wide this evening.

The Croatians have the talent to ensure that tonight’s opener will be a cracker, although the loss of striker Mario Mandžukić to suspension for their first group match is a major blow. Hull City’s Nikica Jelavic leads the line for European side, while Šime Vrsaljko is perhaps the surprise inclusion in their lineup as Danijel Pranjić drops to the bench to make way.

Brazil: Julio Cesar, Dani Alves, Thiago Silva, Luiz, Marcelo, Paulinho, Gustavo, Hulk, Oscar, Neymar, Fred.

Croatia: Pletikosa, Srna, Corluka, Lovren, Vrsaljko, Modric, Rakitic, Perisic, Kovacic, Olic, Jelavic.

    So, we may change formation, but we don't know who will be automatically subbed off. Could be someone who hasn't played yet, could be your captain with a hattrick. Sounds great.

      I guess that warning is there in case you f.e. have 4 mids who alread played and want to switch to a 3 man midfield.

        Just in case you didn't notice, that half full glass of yours may be a midfield with not only the guy who was left at negative points with own goal and a warning, but also your captain with 40 point haul, and when you switch to 4-3-3, it may as well be your captain who is removed and you're stuck with the minus-points guy. lol@that, if you dare. 😉
