Neymar bags a brace as Brazil come from behind to defeat Croatia 3-1 in the opening match of the 2014 World Cup. Oscar is also amongst the goals as the hosts’ clean sheet is spoiled by a Marcelo own goal:

Neymar at the Double
Having served up 11 goals and seven assists in the previous 14 friendlies, the Barcelona wide man looked the obvious route into Big Phil Scolari’s side ahead of the kick-off. One of the priciest options across all Fantasy games, Neymar delivered the points in style last night after firing Brazil’s first two strikes against the Croatians. Handed the role in “the hole” behind Fred, with Hulk and Oscar out wide, he netted a long-range strike before slotting home a somewhat contentious spot-kick and, with a share of corners and free-kicks also very much in evidence, he was at the heart of most of Brazil’s attacking moves. Those who handed him the armband for the FantasyiTeam game (where Brazil have a double Gameweek 1) will be delighted with his returns so far, whilst managers who captain Neymar in the FIFA McDonald’s game will be tempted to stick rather than twist to an alternative.

Oscar in the Points
The Chelsea man was the standout midfielder for Scolari’s outfit last night. Despite being fielded on the right wing, he still turned in an impressive attacking performance and chipped in with a goal and assist. In a night where lone striker Fred failed to fire a single shot and the likes of Paulinho and Hulk were withdrawn after the break, Oscar – who played the full 90 minutes – looks the best option for a double-up with Neymar. In games like PlayON, where players earn points for every five minutes on the pitch, Scolari’s second-half tinkering certainly dents Paulinho’s and Hulk’s prospects.

Mandzukic a Miss for Beaten Croatians
Devoid of their star striker through suspension, Nico Kovac’s side had to rely on an own goal from Brazil left-back Marcelo to find a way past Julio Cesar. Luckily for Croatia, Mario Mandzukic is now available for the remaining couple of group games against Cameroon and Mexico – considering the visitors managed just three shots on target all evening, they’ll be desperate for the Bayern striker to lead the line, with Nikica Jelavic dropping to the bench. Looking at last night’s line-up, there was only one selection that raised an eyebrow or two – Kovac’s decision to opt for Simo Vrsaljko at left-back suggest he could be a budget option across the Fantasy games, though last night’s defeat will hardly persuade many to back the Croatia defence. Mateo Kovacic was handed the role in “the hole” behind a lone forward but was replaced by Marcelo Brozovic after 60 minutes, with his security of game time looking a little shaky.

On another note, those playing the McDonald’s game were afforded some insight into the “Recovered Balls” scoring. The Brazil back-four registered at least four apiece, with Luis Gustavo’s seven leading the way in central midfield for Scolari’s side – in the end, the South Americans edged it by 40-39, with the above-mentioned Vrsaljko’s total of eight more than any other player on the pitch.

OK so the key bit is:

"You can also change the captain as long as the new captain hasn’t already started to play."

So it's not really worth changing captain after the first round of group games, unless your potential captain didn't play due to injury etc.

So do we think fabregas would be in that "dynamic midfielder" role?

If so I would expect less clean sheets next year from Chelski. Although Courtois should help.

When changing formation I think it would be best to Remove all players that have not played yet, so you are left with only those that have played left on your pitch.

Then once you change formation, hopefully these would stay in their positions.

    Any1 confirm this?

Both acutally. F.e. I just read Higuain is injured, I'm playing 4-3-3 with Higuain in the middle of the front three. So I benched both him and Dzeko (Right of front three) and then swapped Dzeko back in and then Higuain, changing their position in the front three.

For resetting the ones who have played, I'd imagine you could swap out all who haven't change formation and then swap them in (only assuming this , plus you still need to have at least one non player on each position)

You can do it for players who haven't played yet. Sub them out and then put them back in in the order you want.

But, if you click on a player who's played already, it gives the following warning:

"Are you sure you want to remove this player from Your Pitch? Once you remove him, you will lose any points he has scored this round and you will not be able to select him again during this round."

Before it started I arranged mine in the order they play from left to right as I figured it would make it easier to see who played next. I just hope I can make like-for-like subs and don't have to change the formation

I've changed my mind, I love the McDonald's game. All this shifting around of players without losing them for good to get the team and formation I want reminds me of one of those puzzle games.

Everyone missed the point of the mini game Fifa put into the McDonalds game. It's supposed to represent player management, and sometimes there's just nothing you can do with a player, they just might not like your style of management, so they take off the armband and hand it to their best mate, Mbolhi.

And swapping captains armband, if your current didn't do well, through each of your player's games is handy. Swap again if the next guys points aren't to your liking.

Sure. That and the fact that if you can be the one person to get your head around it you're almost guaranteed the win...

My current thinking is something like this:

I have Neymar in the middle of my front 3. If Peralta and Vargas both score = no problem, just leave them in. If either or both fails to score = sub them out for KPB and then Lukaku. If Peralta, Vargas and KPB all flop, bring Lukaku in on the left and then he's safe if I switch formation to two strikers. Otherwise bring Lukaku in on the right so that I can switch to 2 strikers and bring in Fayzulin as my final day saviour.

Haven't got my head around my midfield and defence yet...

Too early to tell. Wait until the 1st leg group games finish to see what decent keeper points are. 6 looks good but see how the points for keepers averages out.

He gets a lot of yellow cards so it's not unlikely.

After testing, I have discovered that when you make a formation change, make sure you remove all the players who have not yet started.

When you change formation then, only the players that have played will remain on your pitch.

All other spots will then be blank, for you to replace whatever players you like!

I'm not sure that's true although I haven't tried this with someone who's played.

I just changed from 343 to 442. I took out my middle striker. On going to 442 it removed my far right striker too.

It looks like it does remove the close player to the right.

For safety sake though, remove as many players as you can before changing formation.

with this change of formation issue.
    People are saying the player
who's RIGHTmost of the relevant position
drops out. Right side for our PC
screen or starting 11 team point
    of view?

    I mean technically it's Left
    Winger, Left Midfielder & Left
    Back dropping out right?

What's brilliant for me is i'm in a McDonald's CAsh League and no one else has a bloody clue what they're doing and will get screwed by all the right side of the pitch tactic changing racism. i planned to only use 343 due to all the reports of not being able to change formation at all once the window had closed. Looks like that may pay off...literally.
