The Premier League fixture list for 2014/15 was published earlier today at 9am, affording Fantasy managers an early window into the season ahead. Behind the scenes, we’ll be working on our fixture tickers throughout the day and aim to get these to you as soon as possible to offer a means of analysis of the opening six Gameweeks and, if you’re a member, the entire season:

Looking at the first few fixtures, Louis Van Gaal could hardly ask for a kinder start to life at Old Trafford. The new United boss entertains Swansea in his first league match in charge and with trips to Sunderland and Burnley preceding the visit of promoted Burnley and a trip to Leicester, early investment in the Red Devils assets looks on the cards, with Robin Van Persie’s appeal certainly heightened by such a schedule.

Defending champions Man City have a tougher task. Manuel Pellegrini’s men face three of last term’s top four in the first five Gameweeks – an opener at Newcastle is then followed with Etihad showdowns against Liverpool and Stoke, with a trip to Arsenal then preceding the visit of Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho’s side have reason for optimism in the first few matches. The Blues have three very kind fixtures in the first four Gameweeks – an opening day trip to Burnley is followed by a home clash with Leicester and with Swansea also visiting the Bridge in Gameweek 4, they could be amongst the Fantasy points at both ends of the pitch.

Liverpool open their season with an Anfield encounter against Southampton before hitting the road in three of the next four Gameweeks – trips to City, Spurs and West Ham present Brendan Rodgers’ troops with a far from straightforward schedule.

Everton don’t have it easy either. The Toffees welcome Arsenal and Chelsea to Goodison in the first three Gameweeks, though Roberto Martinez’ team will be optimistic, given they were victorious in the corresponding fixtures in 2013/14. A Merseyside derby at Anfield in Gameweek 6 is also testing.

Paul Lambert’s Villa face a tough task to get their season off to a prosperous start. An opening day to the Britannia is followed by games against Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and City in the opening seven Gameweek, while promoted Leicester hardly have it easy, either. The Foxes face Everton, Chelsea, Arsenal and United in the first five and with a trip to Stoke also included in that run, points look hard to come by.

We plan to focus on the schedule in further detail over the next few days, with a first “Frisking the Fixtures” article of the 2014/15 season rolled out in the next day or two.

Ivan Rakitic, is he a good pick? Playing against Cameroon
Note: Playing a different fantasy game, similar to FPL.
Though: no baps or recovered balls, and 3 points extra to each player who gets a win

    Thanks! 🙂

For McDs game - can you have as many captains as you like as long as they haven't already played?

For example, had Neymar captain yesterday, is it worth changing it to Dutch player for this afternoon? And then a Spanish player if that doesn't work? And then another player if the Spanish player doesn't perform?

I'm ordering them from left to right in order as they play so if you get a bad score early on you can sub the bad one out for another MF before you have to start messing with changes of formation

No idea if that is the best way, but it's what I've lumped for

I know, that has worked for me in round 1. But now Neymar(7) far left has kind of "failed"...

In the event of having to change formation, I would lose the far right milf...trying to avoid it being a high scoring player.

yeah, in that case yes. I thought you meant you're GW 2 team, as you could still change all formations as long as you don't have too many players playing.

E.g drop Neymar, and change the formations while you have the freedom to do so.

                  good luck!

It's probably the best advantage of ordering players based on play times, as it gives you slight flexibility with formations if they don't perform.

You can , until he plays it isn't a problem, so best get everything sorted before he plays.

You could still do 3 at front, f.e. drop Neymar, remove the remaining forwards and then align in order of play

                    e.g. Robben -> Messi -> Cr7

And then if Robben/Messi don't perform, you can remove and switch formations

I think you need to keep cycling through your duds and shifting every player to the left. I did it with my mids yesterday after Oscar only got 5. Took him and all of my other mids out and then shifted them over one spot each. KDB stays on the far right this way.

Im playing the Mirror (no game for Mexico or Brazil):

    Begovic (cesar)

    Rojo, Alderweilder, evra (rojo, durm)

muller, Jrod, honda, di maria (oscar)

    Peralta, Sanchez, Neymar

    I have 3FT, I am thinking of:

    Peralta & Neymar > Messi/RVP/Robben/Dzeko/Mandzukic (choose 2)
    Oscar > KdB/Hazard

It is a massive toss up between him and Modric. Modric had a great game against Brazil and is a very much liked player and often stands out as a good performer so I think he may be the man I will go for.

Yeah Manzukic could be a good call actually as he is most likely going to be the man to net if Croatia score one or two.

I can't see anyway it won't be RVP or Robben but I just can't back them at such short odds.

        I like

RVP - However no value at all at odds of around 4/6 so I will be avoiding.

Sanchez - I feel Sanchez is likely to score for Chile and be their most influential player, the question is how Spain play will dictate the credit he will receive. Possibly Silva could be a shout if he starts.

Modric - It's a toss up between him and Rakitic but Modric hedges it for me. (Manzukic could be a decent punt too).

Got one transfer before gw2 starts (brazil had double gw1).

    A) Patricio->Cillesen (other GK is akinfeev) and play Suarez (rumours are that he is fit, but worried about form/game time

    B) play Patricio (most likely Akinfeev sub in) and Suarez->other striker(RVP most likely)

I'm playing the game of a national website in my homecountry, and the rules are a bit odd:p

At the risk of being shot down in flames, doesn't the Robben/RVP question boil down to formation?

In a 4-3-3 for most of the qualifiers, Robben scored 1 goal (or maybe 2). Then they switched to 5-3-2 and he scored a shedload, including the two against Spain.

If they stick to 5-3-2, Robben looks like the guy. But if they revert to 4-3-3, it's RVP. I don't pretend to understand van Gaal's decision making process but I have heard that he's expected to go back to 4-3-3 for the Aussies.

    Can anyone shed any light?

We're terrible. Robben could play RB and get a hatful.

        There is that 😀

But wouldn't RVP get a hatshop full of hatfuls?

I am really hoping it's 4-3-3. Going to be fecked without Robben if it's 5-3-2. Someone said last night that he was going to go into the game unchanged though. But most articles I've read say 4-3-3

In McD's I am Oranje-less bar Cilessen and have started constructing a bomb-shelter behind the couch

It's not so bad in MacDs because you get so many chances of having someone that will match them. In Fox however, my rank may be decimated.

They were my two transfers in Fox. Couldn't live without them. SOOOOO glad Neymar blanked last night 🙂

wasn’t 5-3-2 to counter spains game – which worked to tremendous effect. Australia aren’t Spain and dont play like Spain so holland could easily revert to their preferred formation for the next 2 fixtures

It wasn't just for Spain, they played it for the last few games of qualifying

Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder admits he would find it tough to turn down an offer from Louis van Gaal to join him at Manchester United.

If van Gaal were to make me an offer, I would have to at least consider it. Nobody from the Netherlands can simply reject van Gaal.

Would like to see in the prem but there is surely no space for him at United now

Apart from being past it, criticised by Van Gaal for being lazy and going to Turkey for the money. They have Mata, Rooney and RVP to play the "no pace and get in each others way number 10" role already.
