Ahead of England’s vital Group D game against Uruguay tonight, Paddy Power are rolling out a tempting offer for those yet to register an account. With Roy Hodgson’s England set to face the South Americans at 8pm, our bookmaker mates are offering odds of 5/1 for the Three Lions to bounce back from their defeat against Italy and defeat Luis Suarez and co:

Given that the regular odds are just 11/10, this is clearly another great offer from Paddy. Click here to get involved.

Those who already have an account with Paddy can still take advantage of a Money Back Special on offer. Paddy will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score & Scorecast singles on the match as a free bet if Uruguay win – found out more here.

To clarify, the England enhanced odds special is limited to a £10 stake, open to new Paddy Power customers only and subject to the terms and conditions specified.

Finally, of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

We never should have given up on 4-4-2. England are hoof merchants always have been, always will be. Rather than try and adapt to some fancy-pants, continental style, we should embrace who we are. Get our heads down and get those laces through the ball as hard as we can, as often as we can. That'll be enough to get us through the groups and then by the time we get to the 2nd round, Wimbledon will have started and we can focus on that instead.

The only people who drum England up are the tabloids, particularly The Sun. Their ideology and readers are thick as dog poo. Most English people knew it'd be hard getting out of this group.

What do you disagree with? Saturday best player for England is Sterling in the number 10 role, so Roy bowed to the pressure of the press and played Rooney there.

Don't start on Welbeck, He just gets the ball and starts running and nearly always ends up on the ground

Then you don't understand the game, or the importance of keeping the ball in a forward position.

Sterling was not too good either game, although I like him a lot, personally.

England's problem is a manager who doesn't know tactics. He just swaps players and hopes for the best. He's no Rodgers. And he doesn't have the inspiration of Mourinho. Nor the fear of Fergie. I thought the players did ok. Just need the defense better trained and maybe for Gerrard to retire, icon that he is.

Hart Cahill Henderson Sterling Barkley Lallana, probably Rooney, maybe even Welbeck, out of the players that featured today.

You'd have to - There's not a great deal of choice. The talent is there, but there are still a couple of holes to plug and the consistency isn't there yet. I'm more hopeful for the future than I was two years ago.

I agree with this. Also, I'm a big Roy Hodgson fan but I don't feel he's capable of leading England to winning a tournament and that has to be our aim otherwise what's the point of even going.

Maybe, but I wouldn't dismiss him from his position just yet. He seems to be helping change the mentality of the team (although it's probably fair to say he's actually progressing the philosophy of Rodgers/Martinez etc. with the England players) and he's almost certainly the best Englishman for the job. It won't be an instant process and I don't expect anyone would be able to turn the team into tournament winners this decade without a huge slice of luck.

you were unlucky to lose to Italy, unlucky to lose tonight but everyone shouting about Hodgson and looking for scapegoats. England were always going to find it difficult to qualify from a group containing Italy and Uruguay. Welcome to the kind of shitty draw the Scotland have had to deal with for years. At least Roy has introduced quite a few youngsters to the set up and given them big tournament experience, it will do England the world of good in the future, You have quite a big blame culture going on in the English national arena. You need to let things run their course imo. Just be thankful you didn't have to endure Bertie Vogts or Craig Levein

How England's attacking stats from general play compare to the other top attacking sides....

England have had more attacks than any other team in the WC so far..

    England 105
    Ivory Coast 94
    Brazil 86

All three teams are lop sided with attacks coming predominantly from the right over either the centre or the left

    England 38 13 54
    Ivory Coast 22 17 55
    Brazil 27 12 47

Of those attacks the number of shots/ shots on target

    England 31..16
    Ivory Coast 34...21
    Brazil 31...28

So the answer is of course..Get Robben and Muller..

Has Joe Hart made any saves in this World Cup? I just can't understand how teams seem to only get 2 or 3 chances against us and yet convert them all. Maybe I'm just looking back in anger but it just seems ridiculous how we allow that to happen again and again.

Yeah you're right but I just have no confidence the ball will stay out when England's opponents have a big chance. Italy created two big chances on Saturday and both went in. Uruguay exactly the same.

Maybe it's actually the fact that I've grown used to our forwards needing 3/4 chances before we convert one that I struggle to comprehend clinical finishing...

Possibly the only goal he could've done better on was Suarez's second goal tonight, he needed to spread his body much more, if you watch his hands, they're tucked in rather than outstretched above him, exactly where Suarez put it.
Other than that, he saw the Marchisio shot pretty late and got close to it, but it nestled into the corner of the net, Balotelli's header was at the back post and he was stranded, no saving those really. For Suarez's first the change in direction is pretty sudden, and his body is already weighted towards the wrong side for where Suarez smartly places the header.
His catching and distribution has been pretty decent too, started a few attacks quickly and gathered well, almost caught out twice at corners though.
