We’ve another four matches to look forward to this evening as the group stages continue to wrap up. England, of course, already know their fate after losing both opening matches, whilst tonight’s opponents Costa Rica are through to the knockouts after serving up back-to-back wins over Uruguay and Italy to stun the football world:

Costa Rica: Navas; Gamboa, Duarte, Gonzalez, Miller, Diaz; Ruiz, Borges, Tejeda, Brenes; Campbell

England: Foster; Jones, Cahill, Smalling, Shaw; Lampard, Wilshere; Milner, Barkley Lallana; Sturridge

The Costa Ricans make two changes from the side that defeated Italy last week. At the back, Jorge Luis Pinto brings in Roy Miller for Michael Umana, whilst further up the pitch, Christian Bolanos drops out for Randall Brenes in what looks a continuation of the 5-4-1 formation which has proven so successful.

As announced yesterday, Roy Hodgson makes nine changes from the team that lost to Uruguay as England attempt to avoid the ignominy of finishing rock-bottom of Group D. Only Daniel Sturridge and Gary Cahill keep their places for the Three Lions as Hodgson hands his squad members the chance to impress.

Uruguay: Muslera; Caceres, Gimenez, Godin, Pereira; Rodriguez, Arevalo Rios, Gonzalez; Lodeiro; Suarez,Cavani,

Italy: Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; De Sciglio, Pirlo, Verratti, Marchisio, Darmian; Balotelli, Immobile

Uruguay are unchanged from the side that beat England 2-1 last week. Oscar Tabarez’ side will line up in a 4-3-1-2 formation once again, with Nicolas Lodeiro tucked in behind Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez, as the latter looks to replicate his match-winning brace against Hodgson’s side and fire his team into the last 16.

Cesare Prandelli’s side need only a draw against the South Americans to secure second spot. The Italians make four changes from their Matchday two loss to Costa Rica and bring in Mattia De Sciglio, Leonardo Bonucci, Marco Verratti and Ciro Immobile in what seems to be a 3-5-2 formation, with the latter partnering Mario Balotelli up top.

In the 9pm matches, Columbia look to finish Group C with a 100% record. The South Americans will be hoping James Rodriguez can maintain the form that has seen him score in each of his first two appearances, while Juan Cuadrado (three assists) and Teofilo Gutierrez (a goal and assist) also carry a major threat against Japan – Fantasy managers will be hoping that reports of rest and rotation turn out to be inaccurate.

The other game in Group C sees Ivory Coast square up to a Greece side that failed to find the net in their opening two matches. While a draw may well be enough for the Africans to progress, Sabri Lamouchi’s men will want to serve up a strong display after narrowly losing to the Colombians in Matchday 2 – Gervinho has notched in both their games so far and is the one guaranteed starter in the front three, though Lamouchi could turn to the experience of Didier Drogba to lead the line this time, having utilised the former Chelsea man as a sub in the first couple of matches.

Suarez chat should be banned on here because no intellectual comments will come from it. Rival fans of pool will gloat about it and it will only start fights. etc people have already mentioned how cantona got a ban when its totally irrelevant when he kicked a supporters head off which is worse then this and people have already started with the gifs.

He should get a international ban for a yr or 18mths and must get compulsory help on it. It's clearly a frustration issue with him were he snaps before he even thinks what he has done. Pool offered him therapy which he declined but now he'll have no choice in the matter if he wants to continue playing.

He won't get banned from playing any pool games because it will get into a big mess if that happens. The FA and Fifa will be pretty much be asset stripping pool of an asset that's 100mil + and both federations will lose in a lawsuit. Football isn't like in the 90's there's alot more money involved these days which is another reason pool or any other big team wouldn't sack him. look if he was a minor player they would but he isn't he's the 3rd best in the world, not one of them will sack him if he's done wrong while in their squads

If people think he did this to get a move overseas they're kidding themselves, if anything it would have damaged it. Also Ajax didn't get rid of him pool brought him from them they didn't sack him. So he didn't force a move. Media have been stirring the pot since he beat England on his own.

Look I don't condone Suarez's action and he should get punished like I said, but as a human being it's frustrating watching a awesome player that's very talented throwing his career away which is sad. I'm the sort of person that likes too see people get help and 2nd chances to improve and help themselves out and I don't like people who bash others and hate and just don't care about other human beings.

I think we should all just move on now and continue talking about the WC and not get distracted by this because I guarantee nothing good will come from it because people won't be able to resist and will start taking shots at each other for the next wk/month.

I agree that it's awful to see and I'd rather see him get proper help but you're wrong to say Fifa won't ban him from PL games, they have the power to impose outright bans. Next issue isn't sacking him, the issue is that he clearly will continue doing this and that makes him s massive liability unfortunately. So it leaves them with something to consider.

yes for a out right ban because they'll lose an asset either the federations will get sued or Suarez himself would owe similar to mutu

Mutu's contract obviously included stipulations about drug usage, I doubt Liverpool have a biting clause in his contract. Remember as well that the Mutu issue is ongoing. Either way though, Fifa have no legal vulnerability here, they are fully allowed to ban him.

Well, id like to thank yuou for your contribution. I think you make some valid points, although its a little bit hypocritical to want to ban talk of suarez in your opening gambit and then indulge yourself in a long post about him.

Personally, i think the discussion is valid and - having not yet se the incident - I'm glad people are talking about it.

Im pretty sure the talk will not distort from the WC, but will add to it.
