Sky Sports Fantasy Football 2014/15 Is Now Live

As some of you may already know, the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game for 2014/15 opened its doors earlier today. With a lull in the World Cup action, Fantasy managers are afforded our first chance to dabble in domestic issues as we tentatively cobble together our initial teams for the season ahead:

The Sky Sports game is one that we’ve covered in the past, with our Members area including the relevant bonus point recipients across the positions.

After winning the Best League for each of the last couple of campaigns, we’re looking forward to defending our title once again. The winner of last season’s Scout League picked up £1,000 for their achievements and we’re hoping to offer prizes for whoever finishes at the summit once again.

We’ll be re-starting our official league soon and will be rolling out a series of articles over the next couple of weeks, looking at the Player List and analysing the best tactical approaches. Regular contributor d1sable will be on board once again to give his hints and tips every Friday afternoon – having finished inside the top 10 last year, he’s clearly a man worth listening to.

        You got any decent bets for tomorrow? Here's a few I've found that are decent value imo.

        France v Germany.
        - 2nd half most goals @1.85
        - France to qualify @2.10

        Brazil v Colombia.
        - Colombia to score over 1.5 goals @3.90
        - Colombia to qualify @3.00

    I don't understand all the Sky game hate, it is PERFECT for all of us who put so much effort and time into our fantasy teams.

    The game does not favour the lucky at all, it favours those who plan and research properly.

    I have come 35th and 50th the last two seasons, and can vouch that if you take it seriously you can do well. I believe D1sable finished in the top 50 the year before his top 10 finish, so again more proof that if you are on here (and use the member stats) you have a great chance in this game.

      im sorry but plenty of us plan and research pre season, then it all goes tits up the first couple of weeks and it really sets you back........... no matter how good an anaylyst you think you are, if you nail the perfect 11 gw1 there is a huge element of luck............
      obviously what you do after that isnt, but havin limited transfers on a team that needs radical overhauling is unfortunate

        The scoring system definitely involves less luck. It's just the fact that you can't ever fully recover from your initial mistakes that puts you off

          Everyone starts slowly because alot of people try to win the monthly prize using all 40 transfers in a month and so it takes a long time for the scores to settle

            I've made disastrous starts to both my sky game seasons and Fpl seasons(back when i played over 3 years ago)

            Never been able to recover in sky, totally the opposite in fpl.

            Maybe i need to be little more patient and see how it goes but that is just my take on the game.

        I think the limit on transfers is a good thing, and makes it a bit different from FPL, you don't want to play 5 games the same anyway.

        It may involve less luck, but the 30 transfers rule pretty much sums up how boring it can get. The other drawback is of course the fact that you need to get the initial squad more or less spot on to have a decent season.

            It's definitely not a game that a 'casual' can win, that's for sure. Half the battle is a battle of endurance, you need to be around each and every day of football to stand a chance. Go shopping on the weekend with the missus and you've had it 😉

          It is the second best game behind FPL with a different tactical way of playing and so is fun imo, to top that off you have a higher chance of doing well with planning and playing less players and you also competing for £100,000 worth of prizes compared to FPL where you get a new briefcase or something.

        Never played it as I struggle to find the time to play multiple games and FPL is my primary option. May supplement that with UFPL this year but that definitely means no Sky game, appealing as it sounds.

        Suspect D1sable's high profile success will mean there's increased competition this year anyway.

        I love the limit aspect of it, it's the best part, if it was just like the main game then what would be the point? i've played other fantasy sports games with similar limits & they're just as fun, you just have to be very selective & plan your transfers really well, you also need patience with your initial selections, just because some players start poorly it doesnt mean they wont pick up form later on & vice versa.

            Regarding the main game, your team would be in 4th place in the list of overall prize winners (£1000) 3rd in the Fantasy Football Club league (£1000) and the overall chairman prize (£1000), subject to checks been made into your account. Sky Bet customer services will be checking into your account and once they are satisfied that your account is valid, they will be in contact with you to confirm your details. Unfortunately I cannot confirm that you are an official winner until they have made their checks I'm afraid, I wouldn't want to advise that you are a definite winner and then there to be an issue found with your account. As long as you haven't been registering multiple acc! ounts under multiple names, all will be fine and they will be in contact with you shortly. The prizes for the main game are sent out by cheque to the postal address registered on your game record and would be sent out within 28 days.

        Apparently Großkreutz played right-back in Germany's final training. Which is OK, but unlike the Swiss team, training line-ups haven't meant much so far.

        Bild haven't got the German team right so far this tournament, wrongly predicting Khedira ahead of Schweinsteiger in the last match.

        Good of them to transfer Götze back to Dortmund in this graphic too - Jürgen Klopp will be pleased.

            No..luckily we get the line up. The team that bothers me is the Netherlands. LVG isn't half a bit of a sod for pulling rabbits out of hats. Everybody assumes he will play Blind in midfield but I'm not convinced, Who thought Kuyte would play LWB..but he is. Thoughts ?

      Things are very close at the top, with less than 10 points separating the top four and fifth place not far behind the pace either, as well as with our remaining choices as so many favorites advancing means that our remaining picks are by and large quite close to the mean.

      None of the big deviation countries are left, although Costa Rica could do wonders for Lord of Shadows, Netherlands would vault SMP and hurt Neil (as would Colombia), and. Belgium would hurt Ryan and. Ginkapo the most.

      Don't forget, this round is worth 4x, the semis are worth 6x, and the champion will get you 8x.

            Well this season 3-4-3 is available for the first time so that is something to consider although with budget restraints looks tough.

            3-5-2 has historically always been the best formation due to the way Motm and bonus points favour mids and i don't see that changing really

        I'd suggest getting Spybot, free software and brilliant for getting rid of little annoying adware etc. 🙂 Malwarebytes is great for the heavy stuff.

        Do you have CCleaner?

        I find that it's great in picking up all programs in the uninstall tab. Any unwanted toolbars like 'ask', you should uninstall immediately, and remove any extensions from Chrome that have been added there automatically.

        no...guess how the "epl" get their players?...by draining other leagues of their best young players often before these players even get to play in their own countries...it's a jungle out there

        Real + Barca get 50% of Spanish TV money between them so usually the league is a dull procession with fabulous players looking great against weak opponents...it's a poor product

        don't worry about Bale and Suarez...it'll still be a great league next year

              Now with the template teams roll dwn to 27k…
              So this game has lots of potential to recover…even in 3 rounds.
