Sky Sports Fantasy Football 2014/15 Is Now Live

As some of you may already know, the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game for 2014/15 opened its doors earlier today. With a lull in the World Cup action, Fantasy managers are afforded our first chance to dabble in domestic issues as we tentatively cobble together our initial teams for the season ahead:

The Sky Sports game is one that we’ve covered in the past, with our Members area including the relevant bonus point recipients across the positions.

After winning the Best League for each of the last couple of campaigns, we’re looking forward to defending our title once again. The winner of last season’s Scout League picked up £1,000 for their achievements and we’re hoping to offer prizes for whoever finishes at the summit once again.

We’ll be re-starting our official league soon and will be rolling out a series of articles over the next couple of weeks, looking at the Player List and analysing the best tactical approaches. Regular contributor d1sable will be on board once again to give his hints and tips every Friday afternoon – having finished inside the top 10 last year, he’s clearly a man worth listening to.

      I'd go for Sakho if starting. Bigger threat going forward imo. If he's not ready then Varane is the best choice.

    if u wanted to play only the minimum amount of mids.. ie 3.. then surely a 5 man midfield of
    JRod Mascherano Lahm Fernandinho Valbuena

    Would be enough right? Most of those get consistent points via RBs etc so getting points from 3 out of those 5 should be an ok task right?

      I think so. Mine midfield is even lighter because I have Aguilar instead of Fernandinho but I am pretty sure that at least 3 of them will deliver.

              I'm personally expecting a few goals in the Colombia Brazil match, but the other two should be cagey affairs. That's a big drop in odds leaving out the Holland game too, if you're gonna go for it then may as well go for the 35/1.

          Probably De Vrij, at least you have Cillessen. And downgrade Hummels to Mertersaker if you need the funds.

          Strangely enough, McD's is fairly settled but not totally sure what to do with Fox. Going all in on the Germans last time has screwed me a bit, especially if this flu thing is as bad as it sounds.

              I am doing extraordinarily well for a serial Fantasy underperformer: 5th in McD's, 7th in Fox! Mostly luck to be honest.

              My McD's team is pretty template - more defensive than attack, like everyone. I like Fernandinho, Sakho and Mascherano, which is about as crazy as it gets for me.

    Gotta love this: talk in football circles is that Sanchez is SCARED to go to Liverpool due to the pressure of being the player to replace Suarez. Arsenal has less pressure as he's not replacing anyone of such note, unless you include Nicky B.

      In fairness, Suarez got 31 goals in 37 games, if Sanchez went there as the replacement he'd be expected to get at least 15, which is tough for a winger in a new physical league, although he got 20 goals this season and is very confident in his own ability so...

        It seems strange, doesn't it? I guess that could be cos it's not true, but no smoke without fire and I heard this direct from someone who works at Spurs (yeah, they use the same scouting network as Liverpool, don't they?)

        Shaqiri has been completely different: he WANTS the pressure of suceeding Suarez.

        With this in mind (if all true), who'd be the better player to sign - Sanchez or Shaqiri?

          If that's true (which I'm not sure if I believe, seems weird that a player would be scared of moving from Barca to Liverpool..) then I suppose you'd have to go for Shaqiri, but Sanchez is more of a forward than Shaqiri is..

            It's the be Luis Suarez's Replacement tag rather than the club movement.

            I think Liverpool will be screwed. They ain't gonna find those bitey goals elsewhere very easily. This is make or break for them.

      Pressure at Arsenal is worse imo. Look at how Ozil wilted. Don't believe this story. Sanchez doesn't seem like a guy with low confidence.

      Could he not just prefer Arsenal because he prefers Arsenal?
