The waiting is finally over. Just three days after the World Cup came to a conclusion on Sunday evening, our thoughts immediately focus on domestic matters after Fantasy Premier League (FPL) opened its doors once again this afternoon:

This morning’s release of the Player Price List heightened our anticipation – only three midfielders and four forwards are priced above the 10.0 barrier, with Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez the subject of much interest after he was classified as a midfielder for the season ahead.

There are changes to how the Bonus Point System (BPS) is calculated, too. Essentially, every previous statistic which factored towards a player’s BPS score is now multiplied by three – a forward earns 24 points towards his BPS score, for example, instead of eight in 2013/14, whilst a shot off target takes a single point from a player’s BPS score; previously, the system only deducted a point for every three wayward efforts.

A new factor introduced to the BPS is the decision to reward players for successful dribbles. Full-backs and wide men who are willing to take on opponents are now smiled upon favourably here – they earn a single point towards their BPS total, the same as providing a key pass. These new tweaks should hopefully prevent situations where, as we saw many times last term, numerous players picked up bonus points in the same match.

Fantasy managers now have the chance to assemble our 15-man squads with just a month until the campaign gets underway on Saturday August 16, where the early lunchtime kick-off sees United and Swansea go head-to-head in Louis Van Gaal’s first official match in charge.

As always, we’ll be rolling out a series of articles on the Player Price List over the coming days, breaking them down by position.

For now, this is just a heads-up. Enjoy tinkering, everyone!

      bit wasted at Chelsea.

      I think they have too much competition for the attacking roles behind Costa. They had the problem in MF last season and it resulted in De Bruyne getting stuck in the reserves. Same could brew again unless they trim the fat.

      Moses needs to go at the very minimum.

      If he stays at QPR he will be the main man, the second in command and all of the kings horses.

      I think he's a great shout.

      Harry is an attack minded manager and Remy is a very tidy player. He'll score goals

    5 hours of transferring in and out players and this is what I've come up with so far....

    DDG, (4m)
    Vertonghen, Jones, Huth, (Chambers, Duff)
    Hazard, Fabregas, Ramsey, Eriksen, (Albrighton)
    Rooney, Giroud, Jelavic

    Players to watch out for are Toure/Sanchez/RVP/De Jong but you can't fit everyone in!

    Fabregas and Ramsey to Toure and De Jong gives City cover but not sure I need it for the first 5 games.

    Any opinions?

    If this is a possible system that LVG could use based on his tactics with Holland, then Shaw/Mata/Rooney all look great value picks?

    My defence is tragic. I need some bargains to open up from transfers. Especially:

    Wisdom -> West Brom
    Verm -> United

    .
    Wenger is reluctant to let Verm go because he has little cover at CB with Sagna gone. However, there is talk of Smalling going the other way. Wenger tried to sign him years ago [1]

    All speculation at the moment of course 🙂

        Why him over Simpson?

        Looking at a Palace / QPR rotation as an alternative to Newcastle / Sunderland (who don't actually rotate that well apart from home/away factor)

      I'd pick Green. All those save points. Plus he rotates fairly well with Speroni until GW34, only 2 obvious hiccoughs GWs 8 and 11. If you must go defender, I remember Simpson doing well for Newcastle a couple of years ago. That's the limit of my knowledge though.

    Anyone know where I can get a simple list of fixtures for the coming season, all text, all on the one page, preferrably in nice separated columns, but not grouped by date so gameweeks don't look disjointed?

    like this but for this coming season: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/jun/19/premier-league-2013-2014-fixtures

    Thanks

    When you can afford a front 8 like the following with 100 m budget you know the pricing has been set too low

    Fabregas Ramsay eriksen Mata LAllana
    Rooney Giroud dzeko

        Not saying it my team but can afford all them and still have a decent but cheap defence and keepers especially if debuchy goes to arsenal and Blair goes to utd
        How the Newcastle keeper slipped in at 4.5 is another mystery
