With the season now just a fortnight away, we turn our attentions to a number of kindly priced midfielders in our latest article for members. Picking the right combinations in the mid-price bracket looks crucial to a strong start and with Fantasy managers debating the merits of a number of targets, we scour the statistics to assess their previous form.

For the purpose of this article, we’ve selected seven midfielders, no more than 6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, who have proven popular picks so far and/or are set for some favourable opening fixtures – potentially affording them the chance to hand us an early-season bandwagon. Comparing their respective statistics, we also dig deeper into seasons gone by in our attempt to ascertain the best options for our initial lineups.

 If Jovetic is not looking nailed I will do Cahill -> 4.5, Jov -> Costa
 Should I do Yaya & Bojan -> Eriksen/Lamela & Giroud/Bony?
 Without just writing it off because it has 3X defence from one team, can you give me any good reasons why this team won't work?

Pretty much set on my top 8 - Lots of nice 9m midfielders to swap around in first few weeks.
