With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Next up is Athletico Timbo’s RMT.

Krul, Mannone
Cahill, Terry, Ben Davies, Wisdom, Moore
Mata, Eriksen, Ramsey, Sigurdsson, Albrighton
Rooney, Dzeko, Adebayor.

0.5 in the bank

Timbo tells us he is  happy with his midfield and attack but has major concerns at the back. John Terry and Gary Cahill are season keepers, and he feels they will play every week  but it’s the third defensive spot that worries him. Ideally he’d like another constant to play every week alongside his Chelsea duo so that he can use those precious transfers for more pressing matters, like jumping on the right bandwagons at the right time. He could be persuaded to have a couple of rotating cheap defenders instead of Ben Davies and Liam Moore – there’s a spare half a million floating around if that helps. Lastly, his goalkeeping combo seems to be collapsing around his ears. Is it too risky to stick with Vito Mannone? Should he go with David De Gea or is there something better out there?

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMTs throughout the day on this article.

    Foster

    Vermaelen - Terry - Baines

    Silva- de Jong- Mata- Sigurdsson

    van Persie - Rooney - Nugent -

Subs, Myhill, - Trippier - Wisdom

I've gone for 8 set piece takers and should be 5 pen takers.
Yes i know too many Man Utd players, but Easy fixtures so plenty of goals and assists off them 3 players is what I'm thinking.

RVP is coming back from injury and likely to miss the opening game, possibly two. I'd go with two other starting strikers along with Rooney. 12.5m is a lot to bench.

Careful about Vermaelen as well, it's not certain he'll go to United with Barcelona sniffing about. Bizarrely he might start for Arsenal if he does stay, as Arsenal's German players will miss the opener including Mertesacker. Your defence is expensive but should do well. Maybe see if you can find the points for a third big midfielder?

Excellent review, thank you.I defo want RVP in, but may leave him out at first and find a easy route back in for him. But yes i agree with the extra big midfielder. See what i can do. Thanks again.

Just come on to find this RMT discussion. Great idea!

I don't normally, but a night alone means a bit of tinkering. Obvious flaws in this bunch???

    Mannone / Krul

Luis / Evans / Van Aanholt / Mariappa / Moore

    Fabregas / Mata / Sterling / Ramsey / Siggy

    Rooney / Dzecko / Austin

Austin and Siggy to rotate early on before the obvious mass chop of the team. 😉

I just think Poyet would be mad to drop Mannone. He was great last season. Pretty good distribution too. It's a risk, so I'm adding a starter in Krul.

Sterling has a lot of potential this year. Everything pointing to him being Liverpool's main man. I just think if he scores against Southampton, then even the difficult fixtures may not be an issue.

And easier to go from Sterling to Eriksen/Lamela than vice versa.

Amazing midfield, but comes at a price, your defense is exposed with Wisdom not nailed on and doubling up on Newcastle. Baines will also struggle with tough opening fixtures. I would consider downgrading one of the mids for another big defender, maybe Siggy down to Davis and Coloccini up to Debuchy / Evans / Jones? Or potentially Baines down to Vertonghen. Just a bit more balance.

Cracking score on RMT means it is above 320 I imagine.

You starting Baines O'Shea & Wisdom week 1 in defense? Might not get you off to the best start, but could work.

Are you rotating Austin & Siggy? Are you concerned about benching points?

What happens if not only Austin, but no strikers that cost 6.5 or less perform well enough?

It could work out well, just posing some food for thought.

Defense is a too light for my taste. No heavy hitters is a risk, although it might still give you good points.

not that dif to my team (above) - I like it, but think you might carry having to play two of austin, siggy and snoddy every week. Unless you're planning to play 4 at the back. which with that side I doubt. I'd downgrade one of hazard or costa to upgrade one of snoddy and siggy.

Hello guys, my team so far is looking like this:

    Begovic (Gilks)
    Chambers Jones Cahill (Chester Wisdom)
    Sigurdsson Sanchez Fabregas Mata (Wanyama)
    Rooney Giroud Jovetic

I'm considering switching to a 3-5-2 formation like this:

    Begovic (Gilks)
    Chambers Jones Cahill (Chester Wisdom)
    Sigurdsson Sanchez Fabregas Mata Eriksen
    Rooney Jovetic (Wood)

+0.5 in the bank that could be used in the first transfer is it's necessary.

I'm thinking Eriksen might score more points that Giroud, at least in the short term, then i could always downgrade one of the mids if some other striker goes on a scoring spree.

What do you reckon, which team do you prefer?

    Thanks in advance!

Need some advice as I get closer to a finalized team. I'm going to write what I currently have. A "??" Means that player can be swapped. The ones that are just prices I'll decide later depending on rotations, transfers, form, etc and don't want advice on.

    5.0 - Gilks
    Evans - Davies?? - 4.5 - 4.5 - 4.0
    Sanchez - Hazard?? - Mata?? - Siggy - Marney
    Rooney - Dzeko - Remy??

    (1.0m in bank)

If I remove Remy, Mata, and Davies, I'm left with 22.5m for those three spots.
I think Davies could be great value if he locks up a starting spot, but am also worried about not having a CHE defender (would go with Luis). But I'm not sure if the money is better spent elsewhere.

The reason I'm not totally sold on Mata is the fact he's playing behind 2 strikers. Similar to Sneijder under LVG at the world cup, who didn't produce very much. I think he'd have more output in a single striker formation. Could replace with either Sterling, Eriksen, Lamela, or even Ramsey.

Hazard is only a question mark because if Fabregas starts playing behind Costa instead of in the double pivot I will pick him over Haz.

Then lastly I'm not sure which 3rd striker to pick. Tell me what three players you'd get for 22.5.

    Thanks!

Assume you mean Foster (at WBA) and not Forster (who should be arriving at Southampton)

Luis is not nailed for the early games and might be eased in (might not, but its a risk)

Shaw is not nailed on for the first game either due to fitness concerns and Young's pre-season, would rather go with Evans (which would allow you to upgrade Luis to Terry or Cahill)

PVA's early fixtures are not good enough to warrant two 4.0s in defense. If you're going with a 4.5 and 2 4.0s (which I'd advise against), then I recommend Chester (at Hull) for the first 5 weeks.

Your 4.0s should be 2 from among Wisdom, Moore, Hutton or Bartey at the moment. This could change greatly before the season starts. There is no such thing as a nailed on 4.0 defender.

Don't think the Barkley will work out as well as you'd like with their early fixtures, but hopefully DeJong at Newcastle will give you an out when you need to transfer him.

You have no Manchester United in your front 8 and you should really take a look at their fixtures for the first 8 weeks.

Would rather see Rooney and two 8.5 strikers on your front line, but I'm a bit traditional like that.

What is plan B if Bojan doesn't work? (you don't need to answer me, its more a food for thought question)

        D. Costa? tha's his 1st season. What if he'll become the new soldado?
        Sturridge? Very expensive
        Giroud, Dzeko? Not nailed
        Aguero? Not in fit
        Adebayor? Malaria
Lukaku? He is an option ok, but not something super

Certainly very interesting. If he stays at Swansea, I think Bony is a good choice. Nailed-on, and has shown he can score against top teams.

Your keepers and 4th mid suffer a little for your big-hitting defence, but I presume that's by design
